The best defense ...

Many of those in the Empire claim a major part of the justification for assuming the region was the lack of participation in the region. Under Gnid, the region was stagnant … almost comatose. I saw this was true back in Nov/Dec 2007 when I tried to establish a local CommRanger group in TEP. As I recall, TAO received assistance from the GV people and only a couple of TEP natives. At this time, TEP’s RMB was merely an ad service for userites. Gnid was delegate and his endocount was the lowest in the feeders. The only reason no one tried to take control of TEP was Gatesville’s oversight of the region.

Today, GV has withdrawn its support of TEP – in fact, it sided with the Empire. And the protectionist attitude and era of the delegate, assuming that the GG would always be able to remedy any challenge to the delegacy thus there was no need to be actively recruiting new and established nations for endos, is at an end.

I am aware of the conflict Loop had with the Game Mods over AdSpam. All Feeders have had to deal with that conflict. But there is a way to mitigate the damage and interference of AdSpam in a Feeder with CommRanger teams (or whatever you wish to call them). TAO has proven that in TWP, TP, and to some extent TNP, Laz, and TSP.

This government must take a more active role in the region. There must be more and more frequent activity on the RMB by ALL players involved in the government of this region. The Delegate (especially) needs to be visible and approachable in the Game … and regular activity on the RMB is the key.

Any Delegate wishing to increase his/her endocount will find greater success if active in the Game; this forum will not increase anyone’s endocount. Any Delegate who wishes the very best for this region must make it a point to “meet and greet” nations on the RMB. And it would be in the best interests of this region if others who are willing to support the Delegate would do the same … all the while pointing to the Delegate.

We all know about “first impressions”. The RMB is a new player’s “first impression” of the region. Issue answering will only carry a player so far in the Game before complacency sets in. If the RMB is ACTIVE and VIBRANT, the new player is encouraged to contact the active nations and ask questions about the Game. Or maybe the n000b will see the activity and read about the “better things” in the forum and join. Activity breeds greater activity. In time, if your RMB is active and your forum is buzzing, even older nations will arrive to be a part of the “living Game”. Anyone who has been in this game long enough knows: we all go where the ACTION and DRAMA can be found.

So friends … what are YOU willing to do for the region? For the forum? For the RMB? Are you an “issues only” player? (I know some are. And this is fine … just understand you have no justification for complaining when your “issues only” world preference is interrupted … like when you get ejected.) Are you a forum/RP only kind of player? Great. Get busy doing that RIGHT NOW so others can get involved ASAP and increase the activity of this place. How many of you are full-region players – someone who understands the connection of the RMB to the health and well being of the region – and you will step up your activity on the RMB AND in the forum for the greater good of the region? Hopefully, there are many of you – because, if there are not, the guaranteed end result will be another group waiting and watching for its moment to take the region from the few.

OK … so TAO sounds like a broken record. Activity … Activity … Activity … Activity … but this truly is the KEY to regional success.

The ad spam is my fault I had back in 04 or 05 complainet to the mods about the spam and was told live with it the RMB belongs to the advertisers more than the residents (at the time Feederites had No Rights if you will recall) so I issued a general message saying we will get them with a better forum and just put up messages when we are on about the forum.

currently I have asked Gov to keep up the vigil on the RMB and we will need more to do so,

the message about the strong delegacy is no BS it late 03 I used the RMB like mad as I recall and according to a web archive screen cap I had over 400 endo.
We can do it again.

The moderators seem a bit more pro-Feeder now. When complaints were made about TP invading regions who broke our rules, the mods agreed with us (!!) and said we were allowed to enforce our in-game rules however we see fit, as long as we didn’t break NS ones. Now, I doubt anyone in TEP is interested in going around raiding, but the idea that you can still take back what is yours still stands. I’ll be glad to send a puppet in and help.

Another option is to instigate a line rule, but you’d best get your government in order before trying that out.

Defend the Homeland.

If you have nothing of substance to contribute, why post at all?

Two hours is more than long enough for any AdSpam to be visible. With so many players visiting this forum, why aren’t there more region players involved on the RMB? It is this kind of lack of activity that encourages others to think they can do better with the region.

The raiders outnumber us. That’s why when we post, they continue to stay. I’ve already posted several times on the RMB (Recently) and every time they just disappear in a wave of adspam, or raider chatter, or pro-empire chatter.

The RMB “chatter” is TEP region chatter. It is being done ~purposefully~ to push the AdSpam off the RMB. The faster the RMB refreshes, the greater the perceived level of activity in the region and the more attractive the region, the new government, and the forum appear.

You have to understand … the main argument for the Empire’s action in TEP was to revive a dead region. If we allow the RMB to return to stagnation, we, in effect, invite another group to take over the region and reshape the region into a different image. It is better to have ~our~ image than theirs, n’est pas?

Of course it is, but I mean, when I say ‘Empire Chatter’, is nonsense trying to call the current interim government false or a facade. Some have even referred to Dannistan as an invader!

I understand all to well the fact that adspam is impossible to combat without chatter, as we can’t counter ad to get it to go away.

If we remain active and vibrant on the RMB, the “Empire chatter” is irrelevant. The players (new and old) who see a ~Living community~ will be drawn to the community we offer. Players in this game seek community … and DRAMA … and activity. That’s why everyone who wishes to be a part of this community needs to have a paradigm shift and consider the RMB as an extension of this community.

Argue and debate with them, then. Do ANYTHING to get the spam off. By fighting back on the RMB you are showing that the community is actually very active, and that the Empire has failed in their intentions.
If you want to knock the Empire chatter off, then organise times with other members of the community. It isn’t a hard as you think.
Hell, even TNP does it.

An addendum to the above: the only Empire people I see out there is Dali and NeeNee. They hardly out number you, they just try to give the illusion they do in order to wear you down.

If you think your opposition is talking too much, it means you’re not talking enough.

We believe there to be Empire sympathizers out there tarting endorsements.

But what Kandy said is correct. To keep them from talking, we must be successful and talk more often. That is how we can talk louder. Now, Loop has already asked for a deadline to this government setup to be around Jan. 7th, I’d like to start it soon, you know, because that deadline will come up fast.

The sooner we get that done, so many other question marks will be gone. We just need to show some authority and some ownership to our own region and make a difference. Before, the empire did that for us and we hated it. Now’s our chance, so we need not be afraid. By all means, voice your opinion, because now is the time. And it doesn’t matter where it’s done, let’s just get the ball rolling and maybe score a few goals while the opposing team isn’t guarding their net.

While the RMB is essential to maintaining our activity, the quick creation of a government and selecting good, strong leaders to keep the flame going. The leader selection will come later, but now is our chance to make sure we get it right. And no worries about perfection or forcefulness, no desires for fame either. We’re a region, why don’t we get together and work as one, like a fully-functioning machine, an empire-kicking machine which is fully programmed to get something going and, even if it doesn’t work well, to stick together and see it through?

It’s our region, fellas. We’re doing so well so far, but there’s still so much to do! I propose a meeting tonight at 10 pm EST. in the chatzy room:
http://www.chatzy.com/152452768055
It’s free, easy to use, and not a messenger. It’s the best we could use. We can use it at least to talk about the government in some form of a regional town hall meeting at least.

We’re getting really close now, we just need to be in there for the climax of the play, so to speak. The Act III, where the villain is finally eradicated and the plot intensity moves down from there. Then it gets even more exciting, believe it or not, because while we’ve had great governments in the past, we get to see a new one in action. And isn’t that exciting, just a little bit?

Also, remember that arguing with the Empire about Empire vs Us stuff will only prolong the length of time that they believe they still have a foothold. Discussion should be actual discussion rather than debates about who actually has a right to the region. That way we can show an East Pacific that is back to stability and normality which is far more desirable for new members.

Also, try not to simply bump adspam with our own TEP adspam, it doesn’t look much better to be honest, general discussion looks far more welcoming!
