It has become clear to me recently that we as a region are grossly inactive, now that I look back it is clear that Kang’s work was about the only thing that help the system. Now that she is gone for the moment, I realize how much as a region we need change.
I am thinking more along the lines of change of the whole region, we need to give opportunities to new players, engage in regional politics again and just generally get ourselves out there as a region.
I will suggest some fixed ideas soon, but for the moment I ask that we have everyone’s opinions? I’m sure we all agree this issue is very important.
Well, I would suggest for a start finding a stand in for Kang until she has recovered and feels ready to take up her position once more (No offence meant to Kang and all the work she has already done, BTW).
I don’t care for regional politics or the whole OOC aspect of the game, to be honest, so I doubt my input would be very useful… I don’t even think there’s anything wrong.
Jokes aside, I honestly think you’re right. The region IS mostly inactive, with the lucky exception of RP. But aside that… uhm… it looks like as if nobody is interested at all.
I don’t really have any ideas to throw into the ring, but I’d like to see what you have to say.
All I really have to add (and this is something we all already knew) is that diversification is key. It’s fine to do one thing and do it really well, but it really helps if you have something else on top of that. This doesn’t have to be regional government, but it’s a good example. Over in the RR, we recently added diplomacy and a little RP, combined with a recruiting effort, to our usual staple of region-defending*. It didn’t all take off, but interest definitely went way up.
*Just as a side note, invading and defending are political minefields. Unless we get a ton of interest, these aren’t the best areas to diversify into.
Does the Delegate have any thoughts on the matter?
— End quote
As with Kandarin, I would like to read what thoughts you have on the issue. Naturally, I have my own ideas, but despite somewhat popular belief, I am open to others’ ideas.
We need an active, functioning Cabinet, that means that we have a new foreign minister and Vizier to replace Kang. It means that we have a cabinet area to discuss matters. The cabinet members need to be motivated to do their jobs properly, with the ideas of reward or just that the job they are doing is important.
You, as the Delegate of The East Pacific needs to motivate the region. You need to be ‘out-there’, posting in threads, or setting up discussion threads, and just showing the region that you are doing something, that you do care about this region.
We need an active foreign department, Kang did this job superbly well with her updates, this needs to be continued. Gnid, as previous AG, perhaps you could take over before we lose our embasies to inactivity.
The roleplay is good, nothing needs changing, perhaps only that we try and attract more people to it.
Some general activity would be good, if we encourage people to just make a topic about something, then encourage people to reply or discuss a topic. The Lounge is full of topics that people just haven’t replied to.
I’m undecided about whether I think we need government change, I think we could definitely improve under the current system and Delegate, but whether we will I don’t know.
Any thoughts? I hope to have more ideas when I have more time.
You two… is another Gnidrah / Matthuis skirmish going to start?
Because you know… in case of a positive answer we could try to organize somethinge like bets, pop-corns and so on. We could even introduce tickets to visit the thread and enjoy the show!
I do, Emperor Matthuis; I do. But I’ve not yet been able to respond thoroughly to your ideas, because I’ve not yet had time to do a lot of things on here. Please bare with me just a little while longer. Thank you.
