Title: Declaration of Independence (long version)
In the Chamber of Nagato, September 25th, 1941,
The unanimous declaration of the Grand Duchy of Nagato and its people,
It is high time that we, the Grand Duchy of Nagato and its people, separate from The Imperial State of Nagato. With separation comes the respect of our opinion to do such a thing to you.
The truth behind all of this is to be self-evident, that all men, women, and children are created equally, that among these are life liberty, happiness, and the wellbeing of others on this wonderful planet. It is our right to abolish or alter the government for any wrongdoings they have done. The past year of the Chancellor of East Nagato is a year of injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over the people it observes. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.
He has refused many laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records.
He has dissolved Representative Houses, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, to cause others to be elected; the State remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
He was affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world.
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury.
The abuse of the government will also not be tolerated in any way, therefore we declare our independence.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the Grand Duchy of Nagato, in a small house in Greenwood, assembled, in the name, and by authority of the good people of this country, solemnly publish and declare, that the Grand Duchy of Nagato to be free and independent and absolved from all allegiance to The Imperial State of Nagato, and that all political connection between them and of East Nagato, is to be totally dissolved. And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives.
