The Yasterian Menace

— Begin quote from ____

To Premier Levinile and Kaiser Harstad,

Recently, the Caliphate of Pax-Draconica has not only invaded Allegheny, but also began softening relations militarily and economically with the United Kingdoms of Great Morstaybishlia and Justelvard. This possible alliance with the Auroran power will for certain change the shift of power on Urth. We are facing Pax aggression and Auroran meddling within our own continent.

That being said, I humbly invite you to Fortuna to discuss this Pax problem. Being major regional powers in eastern Yasteria, I believe it is of upmost importance for us to come together and discuss the issue at hand.

With regards,

Tristan Lytle
High Commander of
the Second Fortunan Empire

Of course, The Vekaiyun Union was on the cusp of dividing Allegheny and Savenchorund, but the more Ikrisia read over the letter, she realized the dynamic of her nation and its impression to the world abroad had changed. Gone where the days where Vekaiyu was a cautiously-trusted nation due largely in part to its history. Now, it seemed, especially as a result of the Kerilo Accords, the nation was seen as a champion of protecting the world from malice and greed.

How fitting.

She didn’t want to spend more time away from her father, but world leaders weren’t really afforded personal choices. If a matter was pressing enough, she simply had to attend.

Tristan Lytle,

The matters you have written to are indeed concerning. Vekaiyu will answer the clarion call of peace and stability and will seek to counteract this seemingly-formed new axis. As the Vekaiyun Union continues to grow, we will not take expansion of those powers lightly, and are prepared to take action should the situation deteriorate.

I will personally accept your invitation and arrive at the coordinated date and location. There are other issues we can and should certainly discuss.

With best,
Ikrisia Levinile
Premier of Vekaiyu

Salutations,

The softening of relations between these two powers and the Caliphate of Pax-Draconica’s invasion of Allegheny are indeed most concerning. While I myself would prefer to keep Asendavia out of these sorts of things, that doesn’t seem possible. Considering that Asendavia has never had the best of relations with the Caliphate or the United Kingdoms of Great Mortsaybishlia and Justlevard, this does worry me quite a bit.

As for your invitation, I will gladly accept it. Perhaps there are other things that we can also discuss.

Sincerely,
Jon VII of the House of Harstad
Kaiser of Asendavia

City of Destino, Fortuna

Although it was not expected to get cold until weeks later, the weather was still chilling to those without a coat of some sort. The sky was also a bit gloomy for liking, but thankfully it was expected to rain. Since many Fortunans were not fond of cold, gloomy days and today had no significant value, the streets were quite empty. Still, the Fortunan government thought it wise to secure the route from the landing zone to the Imperial Palace, residence of the High Commander. Closing of roads and military presence was not something new to Destino citizens, it always happened when something big was taking place at the Chamber Building or the routine bunker drills. Still, the activity still drew in a few brave, intrigued individuals.

Small pockets of interested Fortunans scattered the length of the route, but those who got too close to the prepared route were quickly forced away or else face possible jail time. Tristan and his advisors believed it was wise that this meeting did not draw in much, if any, attention from the public. Yes, this meeting has to remain on the quiet side, at least for now. The last thing that Tristan needed was for the Pax to get word before the meeting even begun, a meeting that might not even go as well as planned. That was one of Tristan’s main concerns, the meeting failing at the very start. He knew fully well the differences of ideologies and governments between Fortuna, Vekaiyu, and Asendavia, but he hoped that a similar enemy, a similar goal, a similar desire, will make it easier for a decision to be made. A similar fear brings people together, something Tristan learned when he united Fortuna. He hoped the same could be applied here too.

Before the other leaders arrived, Tristan was already dressed and prepared. He decided to go with his usual dark green suit, only attaching a golden, shield-shaped medal of honor; his most prized possession from his service in the military. His Head of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Reason, also wore a similar suit with black tie while his First Commander, Ferdinand Romano, remained in military attire. Accompanying Tristan, the three Fortunan leaders made their way to the front of the palace where they awaited the arrival of the Vekaiyun and Asendavian delegations.

Jon VII arrived in Fortuna with minimal fanfare. This did not bother him however. He thought that it would be best to be as discreet as possible, which is why he chose to wear a plain suit and fly in a private jet that was not his typical jet. With him was Viktor Zharkov, Asendavia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ivan Harstad, Asendavia’s Minister of Defence and High Commander of the Asendavian Armed Forces. After exiting the jet, they quickly made their way to their escort and began the drive to the Imperial Palace.

Inside of their escort, they sat in silence for the majority of the ride, and when they talked, they did so sparingly. At one point in the ride, Ivan lit a cigarette and was going to smoke it until he saw Jon glaring at him. Ivan threw the cigarette out the window and looked down. After that, the rest of the ride had nothing special happen, besides Viktor Zharkov praying to Ademar for a few moments. Finally, their escort arrived at the Imperial Palace. Jon and Viktor were the first ones to exit the vehicle, with Ivan close behind them. The trio approached High Commander Lytle, with Jon being the first one to speak. “It is good to finally meet you, High Commander Lytle,” The other two nodded as Jon spoke.

“Kaiser Harstad, it is my honor to have you here,” Tristan replied in a strong, Fortunan accent, followed with a small bow of respect. Romano and Reason did so as well.

Asendavia. Quite an odd nation, something Tristan was willing to admit. From what he could recall, they still were a monarchy and worshiped some odd deity. However, Tristan was willing to put cultural and political differences behind for the sake of security. Although Asendavia was tucked away up North, far from the Pax Caliphate, it still would be beneficial to have them on their side. A strong regional power that had once stood up against SEPC, it would be comforting to know what their position was on Pax and the UK.

“I hope your trip here was comforting. We should soon begin the meeting once the Vekaiyun delegation arrives.”
