9:32 PM 2019, Fargo, Wolfen Senate Building
Coming to New Years most politicians in the Wolfen republic aren’t exactly celebrating the arrival of a New Years, many of the Rufuinan-Staynish population are in uproar against the government for appointing Ronaldo Patrico as foreign secretary, Ronaldo being well known for his sympathies to left wing idealists around the world and the Wolfen Republic.
The Chancellor and President both in the senate building office are in blind panic, both had hoped they’d be able to put down the various protests around the country with the help of the police and some of the army, however both now sided with the army.
“What are we going to do?! They’ll be coming to the senate building! Richard I-I have children!” Chancellor Theodora pleaded with President Richard Dorfmann, but he too was fairly useless in this situation as he was also panicking.
“Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP!” He angrily demanded from Theodora, his anger an obvious result of his fear that the people will want his head on a stick to be paraded around, the Rufuinans had had enough after over a hundred years of attempting to eliminate Rufuinan nationalism and history in hopes of creating an idealistic republic based on tolerance and absolute democracy.
This was not meant to be however, in their attempts to quell nationalism they brought attention of international communist elements whom saw the Wolfen republic as a prime target for revolution, while unorganised the communist elements couldn’t be denied that they were there.
9:40 PM 2019, Fargo military base Charlie
After having defied the direct orders from both the president and the chancellor the military was declared a rogue element, of course the man whom defied this order was none other than famed war hero, field Marshall Mark Hanlon, if the army didn’t want to be eliminated by either internal or foreign elements, they’d need to move quickly in order to secure power, but the men needed to know what was actually going on.
Mark Hanlon stood inside a building looking out the window looking at the men gathering into formation, a soldier entered the room where the field Marshall stood waiting, “Sir the men are just about ready, we await you sir.”
Hanlon sighed, he simply proceeded out of the building and onto a small podium in front of his awaiting men, near them were also several film crews to document what was been happening, let on by Hanlon himself, he cleared his throat slightly and then announced to his men.
“Attention all troops! The President and his puppet Chancellor have both ordered us the military to disperse the protesters and bring ‘order’ to the city’s, the Wolfen thinks we’re weak, that we’ll roll over and do as they say and forget our roots as Rufuinans, that’s -NOT- going to happen.
Men of Rufuina! In the line of once great nations! Have been swept aside AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN! The Wolfens say Rufuina must be finished! That Rufuina must remain dead! Well I say so long as we live, Rufuina will never do so! Lift up your voices men! In the heart of Rufuina! Let them be heard to be spread around the world! A message! RUFUINA LIVES! AND MARCHES ON!!!”
The men Hanlon spoke to let out a cheer of support for their leader Hanlon, most of the military being made up of Rufuinans whom refused to give up their roots despite the government being insistently trying to clear them away, thus their support for Hanlon and his views on the Wolfen republic was well founded.
Hanlon raised his hands in the air and smirked to his troops as they let out their cheers for him and Rufuina, the troops even began singing ‘When Rufus comes marching home’ in unison together, a classic Rufuinan war song sung in their war of independence and civil war.
“When Rufus comes marching home again Hurrah! Hurrah! We’ll give the Wolfen’s fleet a treat Hurrah! Hurrah! Oh the war will be won and ready now! To greet the loyal wholesome crowds! And we’ll all feel safe when Rufus comes marching home!”
And thus with that the men and women of the Wolfen military began getting ready to move out and march on the Fargo senate building, not as Wolfens but as proud and honest Rufuinans, with Hanlon leading the march personally in one of the military trucks acquired from the base.
10:09 PM 2019, Fargo, Wolfen Senate Building
“Richard please!” Theodora pleaded with Richard “I don’t want my children to be raised without a mother! We can escape this! W-we can go to South Peragen!” She said on the brink of tears as Richard looked out the window, his angered look now lead to a defeated look on his face and with a sigh as well.
“It’s too late Dora… I’m so sorry…” He said as he knew what was going to happen, outside he could see trucks pulling up outside the senate building with troops marching toward them, Theodora rushed over to the window and gasped in shock, looking like she was about to crack.
As they were marching the protesters and rioters didn’t dare stand in their way, some even let out cheers of support for them, and in front of said march was Hanlon himself adorned in his classic uniform and universally recognised sunglasses.
As Hanlon came into view for Richard his anger returned with a vengeance. “Hanlon! That damn-! NAGH!” He couldn’t control himself, the returning war hero was someone Richard thought he could put under heel during his administration, this was not the case evidently.
No one stopped the men and women marching inside the senate building, imitating a lockdown of the building, no one was to leave not the politicians, servants, staff not anyone, not until Hanlon said otherwise as he immediately headed straight for the offices, it seemed like chaos inside the senate building with people being dragged and shoved by soldiers, this didn’t break Hanlon’s stride and strut however as he was just outside the door from Theodora and Richard.
“Get this door open…” He simply ordered as the two soldiers escorting him nodded to each other and in unison kicked the door down and proceeded to breach the room, Theodora let out a short scream as they breached however Richard in his anger began marching toward Hanlon. “Hanlon you son of a bitch! I should’ve had you smoked in Arkalrius!” As Richard finished he went to try and throw a punch right toward Hanlon’s face.
Hanlon managed to grab the incoming fist and knee the president right in his stomach, one of the soldiers then proceeded to butt the president in the head as he fell to the floor groaning in pain, Hanlon looked down to him with a look as if he pitied the president, Theodora of course didn’t dare do anything as at this point she was just surprised and shocked she hadn’t been killed yet.
“Right… sir president and madam chancellor, you can sit down and relax this will take a minute or two, get comfy…” He simply said and left the office leaving the two politicians there with the soldiers guarding them, Richard still groaning in pain on the floor, and with Theodora siting down on a nearby sofa looking like a battered housewife.
As Hanlon exited the office an officer with his posse of soldiers approached Hanlon. “Report.” Hanlon simply demanded.
“The staff have been gathered in the near by lobbies, the politicians that are here have been put in the senate room and are awaiting your the address of the Chancellor and President.” He said swiftly with no mistakes, Hanlon nodded to him and patted him on the shoulder. “Good man, make sure they don’t do anything stupid, they’ll be getting something a bit more up my street, under new management…”
