Historical Summary:
Velonia historically was divided into two kingdoms, Korland in the west and Velonia in the east. Korland was mainly Codexian speakers while Velonia was mainly Frakanic speakers. For most of their history, these two nations were separate, only connected by trade. But in 1642, the heir of Velonia married the sole child of the Korland dynasty. When the king of Korland died in 1645, the two nations entered a union under the Velonian crown.

The nation, being near to many other major economic powers, quickly gained large amounts of wealth through trade. South Hills became the nation’s top trading partner during this time. Bayport became one of the biggest harbors in the area. Many ships would come and go each day, bringing more and more wealth to the Velonian crown.

During the Great War, Velonia stayed neutral, trading with both sides of the conflict. The crown was so invested in the economy that losing any trade partners would be seen as a loss for the nation. The country became an arms producer, supplying weapons to all parts of the conflict, with raw materials coming from South Hills.

After the war, the king’s health deteriorated. By 1923, he was bedridden and died by the end of the year. The king was only in his early 20s when he passed, leaving the throne without an heir. By the laws of succession, the throne was passed to the head of the Frida family. The only problem is the head of the Frida family was forbidden to leave the Federation of the Southern Coast. This left the nation without a monarch, and power fell to the President-Minister.

In modern day, the country is still left without a monarch, but the country has not changed. The voting base of the nation is very religious, with most people following Hjordism or another version of Ulvriktru. The Frida family is very important within these religions, so the citizens of Velonia refuse to give the throne to another family. In the absence of the monarch, the nation has become a de facto parliamentary republic, but still hopes that a monarch may one day soon sit on the throne again.
