Warr's Nation Design Academy

There was a clamber throughout the classroom as young men and young women scrambled to it from their dormitories, and as those early birds who wanted to look good in front of their professor or had special equipment to set up all arrived. And it was a pleasant enough experience, the beginning of this class, aside from that. The strange and unexpected students not even causing pause to those who were expected.

And the clock above showed the teacher five minutes late, already. The little arm of the clock above continued to move, until it was ten minutes after when the class should’ve begun, and an white haired old man wobbled in, wild hair atop his skull, cool crisp eyes watching the class, the sapphire like orbs noting everyone there. He wobbled to his desk, and picked up a rod, before looking at the class and… taking off his mask, revealing a dark haired young man who now stood up straight.

“Welcome, Class, welcome to the first portion of my course on Nation Design and Roleplaying. You’ll find some of it is directly role played out, some is OOC with examples, and some are simple prompts for you yourself. As soon as I’m sure the whole of the class is here, I’ll begin my lesson. If you’ll raise your hand’s and show you’re here and ready, please?”

Slipping into the absolutely empty classroom, she bit her lower lip and skimmed the seats with deep brown eyes before glancing at the board and dropping her heavy book bag beside a seat in the very front, right near the door. Glancing about one last time, she slid into her seat and pulled a sci-fi book from its easily accessible pocket on the bag and lowered her eyes to the page, clearly intending to keep to herself.

A surprised glance upwards sometime later at the sudden hush among the other students, the young woman, Kayla, stared at the clock quietly. Afraid she’d missed something, her eyes immediately dropped to the front of the classroom and the teacher that stood there, staring around the room. She fought not to shiver when the striking eyes met hers briefly, though she wasn’t entirely successful at repressing her urge to clutch her book to her chest as if it would keep him from calling her out on her lack of general attention.

As he shed his disguise, Kayla swallowed hard and looked down at her desk. Anywhere but at the young man at the front of the room. Swallowing again as he spoke, she glanced at the door. Maybe learning how to effectively build a city for that writing course wasn’t the best idea.

Still, she raised one hand in absolute silence as instructed.

He raises a hand.

As always, the shivat student entered in the classroom late, and after excusing himself, he seated on a chair on the first line and raised his hand

An Alleghenian student named Ike walked into the class room, pale, tired, and slightly hungover he plopped down into a seat in the back of the class and put his face onto the desk in front of him. He raised his hand into the direction he though was up, but in reality was pointing off to the other side of the room.

Taking no notice of the man who walked into the room he began to doze off, his arm slumping over the side of the desk and a pool of droll began to form underneath his face.

“The first step within the monumental task that is designing a nation to role play is the same as any other character you design to role play with. Come up with a concept, and by concept I don’t mean a concept about it’s military capabilities or any of that. I mean, ‘what is the nation in a nutshell, in a sentence or two?’

In silence, he looked around the entire class room, before pointing at a slightly over-large, reptilian young man, who’s scales prevented his tie from being as tight as it should.

“You, you, tell me what your concept will be then, with what I just told you.”

The reptilian young man gave a few heavy lidded blinks, before opening his ridiculously populated and serrated looking mouth, to speak. His syllables were a bit… moist and slobbery, but his tongue could barely fit in his mouth without getting cut by those teeth of his.

“Well, ssurrr. I’m not entirely sure how to do what you just said, but I’ll try… Like this? Gojiranda is a nation with a strong martial spirit, and which has many unique legends about it. While primarily inhabited by it’s native sentient species, the Gojirans, it has some humans, and the Gojirandan government has recently been formed. It’s a semi-republic, with some tribal government, and which is struggling to get a good economy.”

The lecturer gave the young reptilian a look something akin to what you’d expect a snake giving a mouse before devouring, before throwing himself backwards on his own heels and chuckling loudly.

“Good job, Mister Tung, I’m sure your fellow Gojirandans would be proud of you. Now… anyone else want to try? I expect you all to tell me a concept before we move on. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

Kayla’s fingers clenched around the pencil in her hand, a learned behavior to stop the reflexive raising of her hand. Of course she had an idea, and of course she wanted to share it. What she didn’t want was the nickname ‘Overachiever.’

…Again.

Brown eyes skimmed the words written on the crisp white paper laying at an angle across her desk - it always lay at an angle if she was writing on it.

Equentia is an insular nation surrounded by legend and myth, some good others not. Primarily populated by Centaurs, its most common nickname is the ‘Centaur Plains.’ The centaurs themselves are divided into family groups called herds. The herds ruled by their shamans, with a centralized High Shaman overseeing all of the herds in Equentia. While humans are allowed in certain areas of Equentia, they are heavily discouraged from venturing more than a few acres into the country, as their safety cannot be guaranteed.

Kayla’s fingers tightened around her pencil once more and she carefully set it aside and looked up at the teacher.

The People’s Republic of Lazlowia a communist country, with moderate industry, army, agriculture etc. The people are mostly happy for some reason. The country is unique, as it lack both sci-fi and fantasy properties. Also strangely it only has human population. And it also has no impact on regional politics.

The Republic of Shivat is a country with a very open and strong economy, an important political life and an oriental culture (korean), it’s new in most international relations and has lost many matches in international competitions (specially rugby)

Ike snapped out of his stupor after realizing that class had already begun, after listening to the others he though he would give it a try.

“The Union Republic of Allegheny is conservative, hyper capitalistic society that prides itself in it’s heavy industries and powerful economies. It’s people’s souls were forged through internal suffering and strife. They are a mostly caucasian human nation with a very small percentage of vulpine citizens on the border of Vekaiyu.”

Ike smirked and looked at the other students while he waited for the next prompt.
