Historical Summary: The country is located along the Shams river and produced rich civilizations in early and middle Ancient Times. Its abundance in agriculture sources was key for the economies of Impelanza and the Arsalic Commonwealth. It was an integral member of the Impelanzan Union that formed after the fall of the Commonwealth, until its eventual war of independence and its consitution as sovereign state in 1769. Its government has been diarchical most of its history, both under the Peragian monarchs as regional administrators and after their independence, with some interruptions. The two ethnicities the diarchy represents are the Bardians, who live mainly in the coast, and Qaridians, settled in the inner country. Each Diarch is elected among their respective ethnicity’s members in the Council for a lifetime rule.
