Week 1 "Go"

Week 1: “Go”

-We have been weighed. We have been measured. We are a library.
-UTEP is rated a 3. Let’s make it a 4, then a 5.

Here are my ideas for this week:
Buddy/Mentor Program: We holders contact new members and help them get plugged in.
Research Project: What do other regions’ universities do?
Debate: Should TEP become more parliamentary and have political parties?

Any ideas? Remember, we are supposed to be having fun.

While I am not a (true/full?) Holder, I think developing a written history would be informative. With NSwiki being down – no one can see how it all started or major events. I feel that would be a more long-term goal.

I do like the idea in keeping everything more active. I’m glad to see continuing changes that Bach started and you are adding on to those endeavors.

Some regions, like The Allied Republic and the United Kingdom both have a system of schools in which you can earn degrees. Their degrees though, are required to be able to practice law in the region, for example.

How would we institute such parties or system in this university?

Is that an idea? Please elaborate that question…

The first part was an observation; the second was my wondering what you meant by ‘parliamentary’ system. Whether it is the holders which are the participants, or if you mean like a staged parliament for those interested in playing along.

In the first case, we should probably gain more holders and define decision making rights between the chancellor or this proposed body.

In the latter case, it is reminiscent of a role play I did once where we held a constitutional convention for a fake country, and then role played a parliament under this constitution. It was interesting, but it needs more than a couple people to work (players were the head of their political party, and seats were calculated on demographics)

It’s an idea to hold a debate. The topic of the debate could be adopting a parliamentary system for TEP, whereas it now has a presidential system.

I see now, I apologize for the confusion.

Could be a good debate,

I like it.
