2024 Series One World Championship

Big changes Spiiker

After a dissapointing season of Spiiker Squadron in the S1 championship owner of the Spiiker Squadron Dennis Rondeau has seen fit make some major changes in the team. Here are some of the changes confirmed as the season just ended.
The teamboss Jarn Akkerman, who became the new teamboss in 2022 and saw Spiiker squadron become the WCC in 2022 and 2023, has been sacked after Spiiker Squadron finished 3rd in the WCC with no wins and a major gap between the team and the top 2 teams. The team and Dennis Rondeau are already in talks with a replacement for Jarn Akkerman.
Technical Director, Jorrit Oosterhof and Head of Engine Development, Wytse van Veen, will also both loose their position.
Jorrit Oosterhof will return to his former post of Head of Engine Development since he feels better on his place there and he feels he can do more for the team in his former function. Wytse van Veen will become the new “Liaison for costumer engines”, meaning Wytse will become the contact person for costumer teams who use the Spiiker engines.
This is a totally new function in the Spiiker Engine team but a position they deemed necessary to make sure the engines will be become the best on the grid again. Engine development seems to have been slacking a bit in the last few season leading up to this point. This is also a reason Spiiker is debating if they need to built a new engine from the ground up or if the engine is good enough to be developed to be both competative and reliable again.
