The Regional Administrative Office, made up of RMB Moderators and tasked with the goal of enforcing community rules in RMB community spaces, has become aware of the numerous and flagrant violations of our community standards and Discord’s Terms of Service in the RMB Maham Pact server. In this server, many individuals partook in racist jokes, the use of homophobic and racist slurs, and flaming or flamebaiting behavior, targeting people for political beliefs or for making reports to TEP’s OOC Administration. Furthermore, many jokes and statements crossed the GET13+ guidelines into explicit material, to which children might have been exposed.
The primary offenders of this were Empire of Dabiristan, New Westmore, Great Slatos, Lointland, Wiranath, Karatol-Advenra, and Rajyam.
New Westmore and Great Slatos were previously banned at least once by the OOC administration for repeated violations of the community standards – behavior that is largely reflected in the content of the Maham Pact server. They have both had their bans reinstated permanently.
Dabiristan, the owner of the Maham Pact server, allowed and encouraged the abhorrent jokes, slurs, memes and bullying present in its various channels, taking part directly on multiple occasions. Dabiristan frequently reiterated the server’s intention was to serve as an unmoderated exile for banned individuals, wherein regional moderation could not see or act. Dabiristan has been permanently banned from The East Pacific.
Lointland and Wiranath also took part in these conversations, particularly amplifying racist comments, jokes, and memes. For their involvement, they have been issued temporary bans to expire on March 1st. Karatol-Advenra and Rajyam were also involved to a lesser extent, and will be temporarily banned until January 1st. We hope they come back to our community after reflecting on their behavior.
Multiple other individuals, who shall not be named, took part in this behavior to a lesser degree, and have received official warnings. Many others were members of this server and failed to highlight or call out this behavior, thereby enabling the racism, homophobia, and harassment these five sought to promulgate. To these individuals and any others who might come into contact with the Maham Pact server, we strongly advise that you reassess your involvement and the extent to which you may permit this behavior.
This is not a decision we took lightly. We are all RMBers. We are all – or once were – RPers on Valsora. We understand that many of these people have been a part of the community for a long time and many might have positive relationships with them. However, we cannot let this blind us to the truth of the matter. We cannot excuse or ignore this behavior just because they may be our friends. Homophobia, racism, flaming, and flamebaiting cannot be tolerated. This is true and enforced not only in The East Pacific, but all major regions and NationStates communities. Leniency has been offered time and time again, but offenders continue to take advantage of it to come back and continue behaving in callous, spiteful, and bigoted rhetoric with members of our community. It is because we are RMBers that we must act to protect the place we call home.
If anyone has any questions about this decision, please direct them to Aivintis (@theconstantofchange on discord), Merlovich (@jamaz_ on discord), or another member of the Regional Administrative Office, helpfully indicated by the RAO role on discord or by their status as an “RMB Moderator” in the in-game region. We will be happy to converse with individuals and the community as a whole regarding this decision, and will do our best to ensure the utmost transparency is upheld. As such, an evidence document is available on request. When requesting, please keep in mind a content warning for slurs, racism, homophobia, and explicit jokes.
