(This shall serve as a megathread for all combat and roleplay directly related to the Arkian civil war.)
War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth.
Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory.
Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, the former Arkian government hastily set up after the nation gained independence from multiple colonizers at once finally collapsed after years and years of political chaos and instability. The two warring factions of East and West Arkalarius now fight for control of the nation and the people that lives there…
The Battle for Norstad shall now commence! Western forces are assaulting the fortified positions in front of the city from three sides, and have naval backup from one of their carriers, and a few destroyers. The West and East are both armed with modern automatic arms, modern armored cars and tanks, as well as modern aircraft and artillery.
In this current battle, the West has approximately 4,000 infantry, 20 tanks, 15 armored vehicles, 3 helicopters, 6 CAS planes, plus two destroyers and a carrier stationed in the nearby bay of Norstad. The carrier is a recent addition to the fleet before the collapse of the former Arkian Republic, and has a maximum capacity of 62 aircraft, the biggest carrier of the fleet. They also posses around 30 mixed artillery pieces.
Meanwhile, the East, although largely unprepared, is heavily fortified, and they have about 7,500 infantry, 8 tanks, 26 armored vehicles, 10 helicopters, 15 fighter jets, 5 CAS planes, and many artillery and anti air emplacements, ranging around 50 artillery pieces and 23 AA emplacements.
The battle shall commence shortly, and I’ll determine losses and victories by rolling a d20, and then comment on the progress of the battle as if I was a commentator with aerial view of the battlefield.
Reports indicate western forces partially encircled the eastern defenses before the battle started, and it certain gave them an advantage. In the first hour of the conflict, heavy artillery barrage followed by CAS bombing runs and aerial attacks from the carrier covered western troops as they assaulted the defenses, western tanks performing especially well, and downing two of the eastern side’s own tanks.
Gunfire has been raining down from each side of the battlefield, and artillery has played a major role in the fighting so far.
The next few hours saw heavy losses for the western offensive as the eastern defenders quickly consolidated their forces and mounted a counteroffensive out of their fortified positions. Strategic use of their limited armored units and air to ground missiles saw the loss of 3 western tanks, with only one tank being lost on the eastern side.
Western infantry did not suffer heavy casualties, but were pushed back from their intended offensive positions, and had to regroup to mount a second attack.
Aircraft from both sides suffered heavy casualties, although many carrier based fighter-bombers from the west fell to well placed and strategically used anti air missiles.
Adley and Hyla wait in the Conference Room in the Arnstal Union Council Building. The air is tense as they await the arrival of the representitives. The vital meeting for the future of Western Novaris and the Arkian People will begin shortly.
With a sigh, it was somewhat a relief to be leaving Great Morstaybishlia, the wind a gale and the temperature unusually cold and bitter on the skin. The Prime Ministers’ plane, Royal Two, left Jubliak International Airport, and with a single stop at Blueacia would land in Durakia later in the evening.
When he landed, he took a nights rest at Linski House and prepared himself for the morning. He woke up and dressed in his famous black suit style.
He exited his cab and was greeted by several Durakian officials who led him into the Arnstal Union Council Building, it surely wasn’t the prettiest he’d been in, but what did it matter anyway.
A door opened to the conference room, and Franklin was escorted to a seat. He sat down.
After he is escprted to his seat, a Durakan Civil Official welcomes him:
“Good Afternnon, Mr Prime Minister. We very much appreciate your attendance. If you need refreshment, feel free to ask. The Conference will be starting shortly.”
Tiberio, Lapinumbia’s minister of foreign affairs adjusted his tie, as he was escorted to a seat. He checked his notes he’d brought as the room slowly filled up with the other conference members.
Tiberio is greeted in a similar way, Hyda seems to be uncomfortable with those present so far but does not say anything while he goes over his notes. Adley has a Civil Official get him some more tea as he talks quiety with his Sec of Defense
As they stepped out of their plane landed on Arnstal City Airport, crown princess Ingrid straighten her back and held her breath as she stepped outside their private plane. Her crown on her head, as she was wearing a royal uniform. John W Vultz could see the nervousness in the young princess face.
“Nervous your highness?” he asked concerned
“It is the first time Ive gone on an official meeting like this without my father, I hope I won’t mess anything up”
A small smile could be seen on John’s face.
“I’ll be there helping you your highness, and your father has said he is confident on your abilities” John said warmly. Before the princess could respond Durakian officials greeted them and escorted them to the Arnstall Union Council Building.
While they were driven there the crown princess noticed that the buildings in Durakia had different styles then she is used to. Quite different from the places she has been to. They get escorted into their seats, and so far, that she has seen in the conference. It seems like she is the only royal there.
Franklin stood up and walked over to newcomers. A few familiar faces and some he had not met yet. He greeted them all and dipped his head in respect for the Norgsveltian princess as it was accustom to do so with his own royalty. The room was not full just yet, so he walked over to what he assumed was the Lapinumbia’s official, and greeted him.
“Greetings, you are?” his handshake was firm and dominating, but weirdly, his smile was warm and welcoming.
Tiberio stood up to shake is hand
“Nice to meet you, my name is Tiberio, Lapinumbia’s minister of foreign affairs” He smiled back with a cordial smile and dipping his head respectfully.
Hyla mumbles quietly to hinself upon the arrival of the Norgsevldet Royality.
Adley personally greets the Princess, following in the dipping of his head done by Franklin.
“Good Afternoon, your Highness, please let our Civil Service if you require anything. We aren’t very much to havibg royalty as guests, but we will try our best to adjust, I thank you for your attendance.”
“Ah it’s very good to meet you,” his firm handshake lasted for nearly fifteen to twenty seconds before it stopped. “Need I not introduce myself, but it’s Franklin. It’s nice to meet you.” he smiled. The two turned to greed someone who had approached them and made their presence known.
A man in Formal Military Attire approach the two. “Afternoon, Gentlemen, it is a honour to work with you. I am Otto Mistov, Sec of Defense for Durakia, pleasure to make your aquaintance.”
As she sees Adley slightly bowing his head like Franklin did, the princess does the same to him. Her nekomimi ears slightly lowered as well
“It is all fine sir. I do not think I’ll need anything right now. Thank you for having me here despite my royal title, I know your nation is not used to having us here. Though I hope it can be overcome.” Ingrid said as she gave a nervous but warm smile
John walks to meet with Tiberio and Franklin. “Well meet” John says as he greet the two.
“Of course, overcoming our older, more “unfriendly” diplomatic traditions has been our goal for many years now. Giving a seat to Royalty in our important meeting shows our continued efforts to do so.” Adley gives a warm smile.
