Automatic Denial Amendment to the Citizenship Act

I realized recently that, if someone made a citizenship application, and someone sends them a telegram to confirm the details in order to grant it, and the person just ignores us, they can wait a year and then confirm and we’d still technically have no reason to deny them the application, even though their application would be lost in a flurry of posts and it would be a bureaucratic difficulty to deal with. This amendment, I think, makes the Citizenship Office much easier to manage.

…3.4. The Office may deny any Citizenship application for reasons of regional security concerns, incomplete application, provision of falsified information and/or ejection from the WA. Said denial may be appealed to the Conclave within two weeks of denial.
…3.4.1. The Praesidium may vote to overrule the Office’s decision to grant Citizenship for reasons of regional security.

…3.4.2. If a telegram from the Citizenship Office is not replied to within fourteen days, the associated citizenship application shall automatically expire, in which case a new citizenship application must be submitted in order to be accepted.

This may not be strictly necessary, tbh, but I see no reason not to do it for the headache it will save me. I can be convinced of a different length of time as well to ensure it doesn’t bar good-intentioned new folks who are just late.

My issue with this currently in its current form is something I personally struggle with is if this will be reflected in the STEP Program as it is the first thing to see before signing up for citizens. The forum welcome introduction bot (which still talks about masking) should also be updated to reflect it in general. Otherwise I have no issues with the current bill at hand.

I mean I can definitely update the citizenship application thread to say it but I’m not sure how important it is for people to know considering they should be expected to reply promptly anyway. The forum bot and STEP dispatches are both outside my control, though, so that’d be a question for EM and Merlo, respectively, I think.

This seems pretty sensible, I have no problems with it. While we’re on the topic of updating govt communications, I think the most important place to add this new rule, if approved, would be in the first post of the Citizenship Application thread.

In a week, I’ll move this to a vote if there’s no objections.

I move this to a vote

Seconded
