Dannistrian book stirs up controversy.

A book about the life of an extremely sadistic East Dannistrian tribal leader who indulges in skinning his victims alive and owning furniture made out of the bones of rival Dannistrian tribes has evoked massive out cry from the Dannistriaan public. Pro-censorship groups like Media Watch Dannistaan have publicly condemned the novel “13 Nights of Terror” written by Dannistrian born Bai Lungese author Donald “Donnie” Kim Min Yi, who charge that the author had been “grossly insensitive and is simply provoking racial hatred for the sake of multiculturalism”. Although Mr Kim did not make any comments regarding this issue, his spokesman did issue a statement saying: “The sensitive issues mentioned in 13 Nights of Terror should not be taken seriously. Mr Kim simply wrote a book to amuse and entertain the general public without causing major offences whether be cultural or racial grounds.” There is also further protests when the controversial author sold the movie adaptation rights to Linda Productions, the largest Dannistrian based Bai Lungese film company, for an undisclosed amount. Marcel Chen has reportedly expressed huge interest in directing the movie adaptation and had once said that “it would be my companion piece to Blood Paw if the execs give the green light for me to direct it.” The book is the 6th work released by the controversial author.

Doctors working all night to save Mr Kim have confirmed at 0600 hours today, the 58 year old has finally succumbed to the poisonous effects of the powdery substance used to assassinate him almost 2 months ago at the famous Kowloon restuarant. Doctors also confirmed that his liver and heart are severely deteriorating at an astounding rate prior to his death.

“It would be near impossible to save Mr Kim unless we find an organ donor as soon as possible. Until then, we can only delay the poison in Mr Kim’s body using the available pain killers we’ve got…”

— End quote

  • Doctor Raymond Chen Lai Er

Doctors pointed out that if they weren’t hampered by the recent wave of riots in the city, then they would’ve a much greater chance to find an organ donor and therefore save Mr Kim. Local reaction has been muted so far but a group of Mr Kim’s supporters have gathered outside the infirmary to offer their most sincere condolences.

Like with many Bai Lungese, Kim Ki Moon was born in the impoverished areas of Port Mao in September 2nd 1948. The eldest child of 3, Kim was proven to be a child prodigy, being capable of sewing his own clothes at the age of 5 and gaining the privilege of being a hyper-polyglot since the age of 7. During his time at school (Wang Jiao Elementary School), he always spent much of lunch time visiting the library 5 blocks from his school to read various books on different cultures. By the time he was 20, he already learned to read, write and speak 11 languages. In addition to his native Mandarin and Korean, he also spoke Cantonese (a dialect of Chinese), Dannistrian, Dovakanese, English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Russian fluently. He was frequently bullied by his class mates because of his broad knowledge of Cantonese, a dialect which was deemed highly forbidden by Bai Lungese customs (a practice which carried on until recently), along with Japanese and Shanghaiese. His teachers did nothing to stop the bullying and joined in. He got 3 days detention for speaking anything other than Mandarin or Korean. In 1970, he studied at the formerly named Chen Jong Sun Polytechnic University (Now Pyongjing Polytechnic University) for 5 years. Kim would move to Dannistaan where he studied law and English at the University of Central Dannistaan. After graduating in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree, he returned to Bai Lung and applied to the prestigious law making Central People’s Bank. He was the last applicant to be accepted. Once accepted into the CPB, Kim worked in small, menial tasks for the following decade, mostly consisting of sorting papers. In 1990, he was given the job as Culture Secretary until 1996 where he was the spokesman for the Department for Education. It was has tenure as the education where English should become a widely taught foreign language. In 2004, the cabinet was re-shuffled again and this time, he was home secretary . It would be his last role under the Chenite regime before he retreated to Dannistaan shortly after the Nationalist took over the nation for the next 3 months. A close friend of Wang Bin, he promised to continue the democratisation process in Bai Lung, which Wang had initiated when he assumed the role as Interim Administrator.

Depute Interim Administrator Li An Ying will take over as Interim Administrator followed by an election which will be held sometime next week. There has been early speculation that Mr Li will be the perennial favourite to succeed the late Kim Ki Moon.

— Begin quote from ____

“It’s been a shame to see a popular figure fade away into the shadows so abruptly and so swiftly. Like his predecessor before him [Wang Bin], Kim Ki Moon was starting were Mr Wang had finished and that is to continue the democratic process of Bai Lung. Both of their strenuous efforts to make a free and democratic society have been severely crippled by anarchists and miscreants.”

— End quote

-Li An Ying, Acting Interim Administrator

Other senior figures including Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah, Dannistrian Prime Minister P’aanil F’orrlason Smith have also offered condolences to Mr Kim’s relatives.

Bai Lung Police force have concluded that Mr Yao committed suicide and have ruled out the possibility of murders by other prisoners. In June, Mr Yao was arrested for the murder of Kim Ki Moon, something which he denies doing. It is unknown whether he will be given a post-humous sentence in the wake of Mr Kim’s death. Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah did give a brief statement saying he felt “cheated” as his suicide meant that he would never have the satisfaction of Mr Yao’s confessions, and answers as to why he had committed such acts. Public reaction has been negative, with many of Mr Yao’s harshest critics accusing him of hiding secrets. Mr Yao’s death also brought further question as to whether he is a Nationalist who simply wanted to start another revolution in the country. In related news, the would-be assassin of Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah, Mr Wu Wei Wen was also found dead in Mao Zedong Prison with identical circumstances also hanging from his cell using his bed sheets acting as an improvised rope.

The attacks mimic the assassination on Interim Administrator candidate Li Keijia 2 months ago, in which he died instantly from a similar attack. As both attacks where held in Sing Ren, political commentators and the general public have asked whether it is safe to hold any campaign of any sort there. Many have also commented about the future of Sing Ren and it’s notoriety for murders involving key figures.

“I would like to congratulate the troops for their prompt response to the crisis. At the moment, we are still looking for anyone who maybe trapped underneath the wreckage caused by Cyclone No’vos. To date, 3,500 have lost their lives and I would like to say that I’m sorry to the families who lost their loved ones, it was an act of mother nature rather than that of man. May the deceased rest quietly.”

  • Duh’rahn N’outah

Acting Interim Administrator Li An Ying also delivered his condolences while recovering from yesterdays assault.

— Begin quote from ____

It was an unfortunate time for the storm to hit Bai Lung. The most we can do is to prepare ourselves more readily when the next major storm arrives on our doorsteps. This is why I will make radical refurbishment’s to all major cities a top priority along with policing. The deaths caused by Cyclone No’vos is not definitive and I will expect the body count to increase as the weeks pass by…

— End quote

It is currently unknown how much damage has Cyclone No’vos has inflicted but weather experts suggests around $600 million-1.5 billion. Mr Li also reminded victims of the storm are to use the nearest shelters.

Acting Interim Administrator appeals for humanitarian aid.

Acting Interim Administrator Li An Ying has appealed to all countries for humanitarian aid, in the wake of the destruction caused by Cyclone No’vos. In his speech he asked for extra food supplies for the two million people left homeless by the storm.

— Begin quote from ____

"I am asking…for all countries in the East Pacific…to give my people adequate emergency supplies as soon as possible. The supplies will be beneficial to everyone but is most beneficial to those who lost their homes. We need soups, warm soups to keep hypothermia at bay. Blankets to keep the children warm. Clean water for everyone to drink, the water in Bai Lung is undrinkable right now. It’s green, putrid and repulsive. We need adequate sewers because they are a total shambles right now.

— End quote

He also made references to the Chenite regime, which turned down any humanitarian aid particularly ones coming from Kelssek, and how Chen Jong Sun constantly censored any references to any floods which occurred in the country.

— Begin quote from ____

"I would like remind all citizens that this is not the Chenite regime, we do not turn simply down offers by other nations for the sheer sake of it. You’ve got to remember that this is the year 2007, we accept all kinds of humanitarian aids and donations whether they be friend or friend of a friend.

— End quote

Shortly after giving the speech, he also made plans to visit most of the worst affected areas in the country.

First LGBT parade kicks off in Choi.

The first ever LGBT parade will be held in the city of Choi since the fall of the Chenite and Nationalists regimes. Although the event was met with polarised reactions, some people are particularly concerned over the homophobic nature of the Bai Lungese public in general but acting Interim Administrator Li An Ying is confident that the event will go ahead with minimal interference. The event will be closely guarded by Dannistrian troops to prevent any extreme conservatives from attacking the participants. The event will run from 20th-22nd August.

Riots ensue after part Japanese candidate is announced.

Kobayashi Taro (Xiaolin Tailang in Mandarin Chinese), one of the 6 candidates who is standing for the Interim Administration election has provoked an extremely negative reception from the Bai Lungese public because of his background. Most members of the public claim that electing a Japanese candidate will compromise the identity of the Bai Lungese public, their culture and their languages, Mandarin and Korean. Many also charge that Mr Kobayashi may remove any archives concerning the history of Bai Lung. Despite strong negative vibes, Mr Kobayashi denies any plans to purge the identity of the Bai Lungese people and impose Japanese customs instead. In his own words, he pledges to continue preserving the public’s identity and their customs. Despite these claims, Mr Kobayashi plans to improve relations between One Infinite Loop and Bai Lung, which to date has been muted.

Kobayashi Taro was born to a part Japanese, part Chinese mother (Kobyashi’s grandmother was raped by Japanese soldiers during World War 2) in 8th January 1959. His dad is a full blooded Korean but he died shortly before Kobayashi turned 1. Like Kim Ki Moon, he too was discriminated by class mates because he spoke Cantonese fluently as well (to this day, Cantonese is still a forbidden dialect amongst many of the locals along with Shanghaiese) while at the same time, he managed to keep his and her mother Japanese identity secret until recently at the time of the up coming Interim Administration Elections. In 1977 he left school to study at the Chen Jong Sun Polytechnic University where studied business and politics for 3 years. Although he never got a place in the Central People’s Bank, he did set up an initally small company which sold furniture but becomes the prime choice for late dictator Chen Jong Sun for his sofas. A little known fact is that Mr Kobayashi is the richest candidate of the 6 with an estimated $300 million in his pockets. He speaks, reads and writes Arabic, Cantonese, Dannistrian, Dovakhanese, English, Farsi, French, German, Gnidrahn, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Hakka, Korean, Mandarin, Min Nan, Portguese, Russian, Shanghaiese, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese fluently.

In response to the announcement of Kobayashi Taro as a candidate for the Interim Administration elections, there has been widespread looting and rioting throughout the country. Many have attacked Japanese tourists who were visiting Bai Lung and have also targeted Japanese establishments such as restaurants, supermarkets and electronic goods shops. Police have managed to quell 95% of all riots overnight. As of 18th August, 7,000 people were killed in the nationwide riots, making it the bloodiest riots to date and an estimated $2 billion worth of damages.

In related news, due to the rather large number of candidates, Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah and the Interim Administration Cabinet have agreed to run 2 rounds of elections instead of 1, causing grave concerns to many who claim that Mr Kobayashi will win through this way. The 1st wave of elections will commence tomorrow followed by the 2nd wave on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Linda Plaza in Nordu Dannistra, the 11th film of the controversial cult director is simply given the tentative title of The White Film, based on the poster which Marcel Chen has unveiled today. According to Chen, the title of the film is supposed to be a homage to The Beatles 10th album, The White Album. The synopsis of his 11th film remains unclear although he did confirmed that it will be Musical/Mystery/Thriller. BREAKING NEWS: Part Japanese candidate go head to head with acting interim administrator for the 2nd round of Interim Administrator Election.

In what is considered be a shocking surprise by many, the part Bai Lungese, part Japanese candidate, Kobayashi Taro will be facing acting interim administrator Li An Ying in the 2nd round of the Interim Administration elections. The 48 year has managed to beat rival candidate Kim Ho Wook by 249 votes. Despite the surprise victory for Kobayashi, bookies have listed Mr Kobayashi his odds of getting through the 2nd wave of voting as 99/1, the lowest odds of the 6 candidates. Bookies are now giving his odds of becoming the next Interim Administrator as 6,000,000,000/1. This is contrasted by Mr Li’s comfortable winning odds of 1/2. Several local newspapers have conducted their own polls to readers, all giving Li An Ying as the candidate to vote for. In related news, riots continue to spread throughout the country. Many Japanese establishments such as restaurants and supermarkets have been looted and burned by rioters. There have been reports of Japanese aid workers targeted by rioters and many of them are already fleeing the country for their own safety. 30 people have been killed in todays rioting. Mr Li has condemned today and yesterdays riots calling them “unnecessarily violent and gratuitous”. Speaking at the Chen Biu Wok hospital, he has called for peace throughout the country.

— Begin quote from ____

Now it’s not the time to act like a group of uncivilised animals. I’m asking citizens to take the results of yesterday’s elections in a mature and tolerant manner. We can’t go around shaking our toys around, crying like toddlers and going into a huge tantrum, that’s not how we operate and it’s something we shouldn’t do in the first place. I am hugely appalled by the public reaction to Mr Kobyashi’s victory into the 2nd round [of the Interim Administration Elections]. Why go totally ballistic on the basis of his ethnic background? Anyone decent citizen of Bai Lung would have the brains to realise that it’s his policies that count, not his background. I might not be his best friend but I treat him with the utmost respect. This inappropriate misconduct perpetuated by many citizens must cease and decease immediately. The violence in todays and yesterdays riots have been unnecessarily violent and outright gratuitous. To put it short: There will be no violence in my soil, there will be no blood shed. The acts of violence must stop.

— End quote

The 2nd round of voting will commence on Wednesday.

BREAKING NEWS: Kobayashi Taro becomes the 3rd elected Interim Administrator by a minute majority.

Part Japanese, Part Bai Lungese business man and politician Kobayashi Taro (Pictured above) becomes the 3rd elected Interim Administrator by a very narrow victory as well as the first Bai Lungese politician to be of Japanese descent. Election results stated that Mr Kobyashi has beaten favourite Li An Ying by only 70 votes. Mr Kobayashi’s minute victory has taken many observers by surprise because his part Japanese background will be played against him by the general public. Some have believed that Mr Kobyashi’s narrow victory is a result of disillusioned people who are fed up of the riots in the country and that Mr Li did nothing to quell them so promptly.

Despite his narrow victory, under the current Bai Lungese constitution, Mr Kobyashi will not be allowed to be sworn in as Interim Administrator under his Japanese name but instead he has to use his Chinese and Korean names instead. Reactions to Mr Kobayashi victory have been extremely negative and riots have broken out in many parts of the country.

There have been no fatalities at time of publication but it is expected to be in the high 100’s. In the wake of Mr Kobayashi’s victory, there has been questions’ regarding vote rigging and spoiled ballot papers while many critics have been accusing Mr Kobayashi of rigging the election as a way to gain a serious advantage over his rival candidate. International reaction has been muted although Dannistrian Prime Minister P’aanil F’orrlasson Smith has congratulated Mr Kobayashi’s narrow victory and will “work with him in the foreseeable future”.

New Interim Administrator Kobyashi Taro promises aggressive policing measures.

Newly elected interim administrator Kobayashi Taro has promised aggressive policing measures in the wake of his narrow victory today. The 48 year old promises to tackle any riots witnessed in the past week as well as tackling racial bigotry as a whole, particular those who target Japanese people and Japanese establishments. Speaking at the Pyongjing City Hall (where the election result was held), he wanted to remind the public that they should not judge him because of his mixed Japanese background but instead be more open minded by judging him by his experience.

— Begin quote from ____

The Bai Lungese public are expected to judge myself by the 30 years of experience that I possess during my time as a politician, not my ethnic background. It is simply an act of short-sightedness and most obviously, racism…

— End quote

There has been an early rumour of Xiang Gang Lt Governor Jùdàide Mûgû receiving an offer as Depute Interim Administrator because of her aggressive policies on policing as well as her extensive background as a former PLA. If she accepts the offer, then she will become the first female to be selected in a high ranking job.

Former interim Administrator Li An Ying praises Kelssekian government.

The suspects are named as Ti Gong (Aged 30), Ryu Yimou (Aged 25) and Thomas Chen Ze Min (Aged 28). All 3 will be questioned as to whether they had links with late environment secretary Yao Ma. All 3 have stridently denied any wrong doing. In related news, former depute interim administrator Huang Tao has been released from hospital after doctors were convinced about his overall condition. Mr Huang’s discharge came on the same day in which he was sacked as Depute Interim Administrator by newly appointed Interim Administrator Kobayashi Taro whom he felt that the appointment of a hard line depute I.A. is necessary to quell any future riots which may follow.

Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah criticises Kobayashi Taro for handling of riots.

Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah has sharply criticised newly elected Interim Administrator Kobayashi Taro for his handling of the recent outbreak of riots since he took power. N’outah referred to Kobayashi’s proposals to toughen up on future riots as “ham fisted and merely a sack of empty promises that fail to live up to the man’s reputation” and he may consider forcing a snap re-election if Kobayashi does not do anything about the ongoing riots caused as result of his part Japanese heritage, which has proven to be extremely unpopular to the Bai Lungese public. Mr N’outah also noted a sharp increase of riots occurring on a daily basis (see graph below).

The murder rate did not fare any better as murders shot up to more than double under Mr Kobayashi’s tenure.

Despite harsh criticisms of Mr Kobayashi, General N’outah promises to be more forgiving towards the 48 year old but on condition if he shows real signs of improvement, in particular, his handling of the riots.

300 bodies recovered in Port Sung and Qing Qing.

Clean up operations are still on going in the two cities affected badly by cyclone No’vos, Port Sung and Qing Qing. Both rescue teams and the Dannistrian army have confirmed that they recovered 300 bodies from the wreckage caused by last week’s storm. All the bodies will be identified individually and their next of kin will be informed. An estimated $3 billion worth of damages were caused by the storm and the fatalities has already been risen to 3,951.

Marcel Chen’s Dannistrian civil war films receive negative reviews from press.

It’s been proven to be an unlucky day for Marcel Chen as both Dannistrian civil war films fail to live up to the critic’s expectations. The film was given a private screening to several film critics before it makes its official debut at the Nordu Dannistra City Film Festival (NDCFF) later next month. Most critics are already giving both films scathing reviews about the Dannistrian born Bai Lungese Director’s films. Most critics objected to the dialogue, plot, acting and the graphic violence.

Johnny Im S’maath of Nordu Daily Times who gave Sands of Orwoo and Slick J’t B’llk 1/5 stars referred to both films as:

— Begin quote from ____

"An abysmal pile of contraption that pretends to stand out from the rest of the other war films but in reality, it exceedingly fails to meet expectations of both critics and bums on seats. The dialogue is completely turgid and sloppily executed. I wonder…? Did Marcel Chen stole a huge portion of dialogue from other films at the last minute and cobbled it into his script at the last minute? Who knows…? The performances are laughable at best, there’s far too many melodramatic scenes and they tend to be prolonged lasting at around 3 minutes at the minimum. These emotionally intense scenes are designed to provoke a tear-jerk reaction from the audience but fails miserable as it both is unnecessary and does not move the story line at all. Mr Chen should avoid inflating his ego by focusing head on competition with the F4 group (Best known for their beautifully directed Mean Streets of F’oraf who are also making a Dannistrian civil war film) and focus more on making films he knows he’ll be good at in particular, films such as his critically acclaimed 2000 film: “Anonymity”.

— End quote

Andrew P.M. Nathan of Total Film Dannistaan gave both films 2 stars. He disliked the fast pacing of the film as well as the lack of characterisation:

— Begin quote from ____

“It’s like John Woo’s The Killer mets Stephen Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan but in an awful way. The characters are literally the throw away kind. What happens in both films is that you get two characters talking to each other for 20 seconds about their life followed by a loud explosion, killing one or both of them. You can’t really relate to any of the characters, it’s a simple talk, talk, boom, boom, splat, splat exercise…”

— End quote

D’aarl Johnston of The Sun East Dannistraan also gave Chen’s films a negative review. He even went as far as to brand Marcel Chen’s films as racist:

— Begin quote from ____

“…another moronic film made by talentless excuse of a hack called Marcel ‘I’m on top of the world’ Chen, who’s making this as part of his racist franchise after mediocre films like Blood Paw. In fact, I declare these films as Chen’s most racist works to date. I could not believe such self-lowering tripe was proven to be conceivable, particularly by a man who couldn’t speak his own mother tongue let alone a foreign one. The execs allow this egotistical, hack to make 2 films designed to distress veterans of the war and defile those who fought and died in the war. Guess what? Here we are: two finished products. As a whole, the films are merely poorly executed metaphors designed to encourage Bai Lungese to start an uprising against the Dannistrian race. It’s not even direct to DVD material. Hell, it even worth your few hours downloading it on bittorrent. I’d say to readers: start an up-rise against this barbaric animal. To sum it up this pile of s*** in 15 words before the editors cut down my spiteful review of this tripe: THEY ARE QUITE FRANKLY THE WORST FILMS OF 2007 AND THE WORST FILMS EVER MADE!”

— End quote

The same newspaper didn’t give both films the lowest rating of 1 star (as in the case of Chen’s previous film Blood Paw) and instead gave it a new rating of minus 5 stars. As of today, Mr Chen’s two films are the only films to be given such a rating. He also noted that the near overwhelming negative reviews were “frustrating” to him.

Despite the scathing reviews, a few did enjoy the films and called it Chen’s best works to date. In particular, H’aarii Parkinson of Daily Dannistra Onn gave both films 4/5 stars calling it:

— Begin quote from ____

“This is an exuberant piece of work by Marcel Chen. It is best epic war films for ages. The story line is a little thin on the negative side but it’s damn moving and better than some of the other films released this year.”

— End quote

Monthly Moving Pictures Dannistaan also gave the film four stars, even calling a “Serious contender to the works of F4”. Currently, Sands of Orwoo is given a 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with Slick J’t B’llk faring a little better at 25%.

Kobayashi: No re-counts.

In a move proven to be extremely unpopular by the public and political commentators, Interim Administrator Kobayashi Taro will not have any plans to re-count the votes from last weeks election despite growing pressure from the public as well as pressure from Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah. Giving a statement to the press, Mr Kobayashi felt a recount would “overshadow the real problems that have been paralysing this country since the days of the Nationalist and Stalinist regimes collapsed. Our real enemies are famine, crime and lack of clean water…”

The overwhelming demand of a re-count has came into light when the businessman and politician managed to beat rival Li An Ying by exactly 70 votes in last weeks election in which many have accused him of vote tampering. Many have also accused him of making the voting papers difficult to mark down as a way to turn the election in his favour. As a result his reluctance to allow a re-count, many have called for him to stand down as Interim Administrator or face charges of corruption. Mr Kobayashi has not bowed down to either demands and has warned that those who protest outside the Presidential Palace in Pyonging will be arrested and charged for obstruction. In his own words, he plans to commit to the role of Interim Administrator to the fullest.

Marcel Chen arrested for assault.

Controversial Dannistrian born Bai Lungese director Marcel Chen has been arrested by North Dannistrian Police for viciously assaulting a critic who heckled him at the after screening party. The incident happened at an after screening party at the Old Victor Theatre in Nordu Dannistraa City where he invited critics to a private screening of his Dannistrian civil war film double bills. What really happened at the time of the incidents remains unclear although a witness told a faithful account of what happened. As Marcel Chen was chatting to a few party goers about his idea of the White Film, a man shouted at Chen, decrying his films as:

— Begin quote from ____

“AN UTTER LOAD OF HORSE TRIPE!!! GO MAKE A BETTER FILM, YOU RACIST HACK!!!"

— End quote

The heckler happened to be the columnist of The Sun East Dannistaan, D’aarl Johnston who is a fierce critic of Marcel Chen and most famously gave his two works minus five stars. Initially, the two then confronted each other peacefully. They exchanged the following dialogue:

— Begin quote from ____

Marcel: D’aarl, that’s not necessary……

D’aarl: It’s damn more necessary than that rubbish film of that ilk. And that’s me putting it politely, you goddamn talentless bigot…

Marcel: D’aarl, I’ve got guests around me. Let’s not make a scene around this…

D’aarl: I don’t care if I make a scene or not. The quality of your tripe films matter to me now so here me out: YOUR FILMS ARE TRIPE! THEY AREN’T WORTHY OF ZERO STARS! THEY AIN’T DIRECT TO DVD MATERIAL! THEY SUCK END OF STORY! Do you get my drift?!

Marcel: D’aarl, D’arrl, that’s rude to go around interrupting me while I’m having a conversation with my guests. You can hate my films all you want but what I won’t let you do is go around sharply criticising my films while I’m holding a party with guests of 100 or so people. That’s just uncalled for, D’aarl and that I would consider to be an extremely childish behaviour. Let me put it this way: how would you like it if I start hollering at your direction while you are talking to someone?

D’aarl: (At this point, Marcel tries to interrupt D’aarl but the latter continuously prods the former by his head) Guests? Don’t forget that you gave me an invite to a screening of that inexcusable attempt of a film you have conceived from your s*** stained, frazzled brain of yours. I would like to emphasis that I’m also your damn ‘guest’ and I reserve the right to give whether they be reserved or reticent or otherwise, goddammit! Your ‘guest’ has got a suggestion to Sir Marcel Chen Ze Hua: If you can’t take my comments like a real man, then you can go shove your head UP YOUR SMUTTY, PUNY ASS!

— End quote

The exchange was followed by Marcel Chen throwing a punch at D’aarl Johnston before the former grabbed the latter’s head and attempted to force it into the formers buttocks, based on the dialogue said by the critic. Johnston resisted and threw Chen into a table full of champagne bottles. Johnston delivered a stern message to Chen before leaving: “I can’t see why you are fighting with me over small criticism…learn to box properly while yer at it…”. Chen grabbed a beer bottle before smashing it on Johnston’s face, stunning him for a few seconds. Chen turned the fight in his favour by grabbing Johnston by his hair and smashed his face repeatedly on a nearby hi-fi (Many were astonished by how Marcel managed to break a well made hi-fi in seconds) before sitting on his head for a few seconds. Although some did try to restrain him but the controversial director challenged them and he resumed attacking the 39 year old critic. Chen proceeded to kick the now unconscious Johnston in the head repeatedly. Witnesses also reported Chen screaming out something in Mandarin. Below is a rough translation:

— Begin quote from ____

“I show you how to shove one’s head into your ass, you fing piece of charcoal. Fing chappie, I hope you die horribly, you dumb black chappie. My films will always be much better than your mediocre reviews.”

— End quote

Mr Chen was finally restrained by police before being formally charged with GBH while Mr Johnston was hospitalised with moderate cuts to the head, fractures to the skull, displacement of the nose and loss of teeth. He too was charged with ABH. 8 hours after Mr Chen’s arrest, his agent bailed him out for an undisclosed amount. The early release of Mr Chen was sharply criticised by many East Dannistrian who felt that the North Dannistrian state government was being lenient towards him and despite the fact that Chen is the one threw the punch first. Mr Johnston was denied bail and both will be summoned before a judge.

Newly appointed Interim Administrator Kobayashi Taro (Pictured Above) is already under pressure from the media after a freelance photographer claimed to have seen him hanging around with a prostitute at the Chiang Kai Shek district in the southern part of Pyongjing. The site: www.LINTAILANGMUSTGO.BL has already garnered over 5 million individual signatures within the first hour since it’s inception and is expected to rise by 10 fold by the end of the week. Many Bai Lungese who did sign the online petition, are calling for the early resignation of Mr Kobayashi or face charges of corruption and rape. — Begin quote from ____

"He’s gotta step down or go to jail for poisoning a young lady and assaulting a young aspiring photographer…

In the wake of Mr Kobayashi’s scandal, riots have broken out in most parts of the country with protesters attacking Coocoostan, Dannistrian, Dovakhanese and FPS embassies as well as targeting Dannistrian army camps where soldiers have successfully fended any rioters from reaching the camps. Japanese establishments continue to be targeted by rioters. Dannistrian General Duh’rahn N’outah gave today’s body count as 2.600. He has condemned the riots today and called for the public to protest peacefully instead of relying on violence. When asked if Mr Kobayashi did any wrong doing, he simply turned down the offer to give a clear answer.

Marcel Chen and East Dannistrian film critic each given probation, Chen’s Blood Paw will not be released on DVD in East Dannistaan.

Kobayashi is stabbed by protester: “I will not step down as Interim Administrator”, Riots paralyse most parts of the country.

Interim Adminstrator Kobayashi Taro (Pictured above) has survived an assassination attempt after a protester stabbed him at the City Hall in Pyongjing. The attacker is identified as Mr Jackie Huang Run Sung, 27, who climbed into the podium where Mr Kobayashi was holding a speech about the budget and his alleged scandal with a prostitute. Mr Huang started to scream “DEATH TO THE J%PS!!! DEATH TO LIN!!” before he proceeded to stab the 48 year old 19 times in the back, chest, stomach and neck. He was eventually subdued by the police and bodyguards where he will be charged with attempted murder. Police also confirmed that he attempted to slit his own wrists in an attempt to avoid charges. According to eyewitness, Mr Huang also stabbed Mr Kobayashi bodyguards as well.

Below is an excerpt of the Q&A session prior to the above incident. The full interview can be found on the website.

— Begin quote from ____

Q: Who was the girl you was seeing a few days ago and why did she refer to you as “baby cakes” and “sugar”?

Kobyashi: The girl who I was seeing a few days ago at the Chiang Kai-Shek district, is my daughter. She might look like one and dress like one but I can assure you that girl is my daughter and she is in no way going to indulge herself in the dark underworld of drugs. She calls me “baby cakes” because it’s a term of endearment like how would you refer to your wife as “dear” or “darling”. She’s been calling me that since she was, I don’t know, 8 maybe 9 years old.

Q: What is the drug you gave to her? Who is Ah-Wu?

Kobyashi: I didn’t give any drugs. She was the one who showed it to me. The drug is actually a legal one, some pain killer bought from a pharmacy for a couple of BL Dollars. Popular to the contrary, it was not the hallucinogenic drug adrenochrome, I just simply forgot the name and thought that was the name of the drug. Ah-Wu is my niece, she practices Tae Kwan Do for 5 hours a day and she’s been doing it since she was 3 years old. The pain killer is for my niece who was in pain because performed a movement which strained her back and hence why it putted her out of commission for the time being. Like I said before, it’s nothing illegal, you can buy this pain killer for a fistful of dollars.

Q: Who is Watanabe Sakura?

Kobyashi: She’s the finance secretary of my cabinet. I’m sure that I’ve said it many, many times during my tenure. Due to the enormous amount of paper work I’ve get on a daily basis, I couldn’t get round to buying my niece some painkillers so I asked the finance secretary to get some painkillers for my niece. Besides, she is the one who lives closest to my niece. Remember, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. My paperwork does come first.

Q: Your daughter was talking about how she bought the drugs from a “chappie” who sold it for 300 BL Dollars. Could you explain about that?

Kobyashi: That was simply been taken out of context. The conservation which I had with my daughter is actually comprised of 2 different subjects. First of all, she was talking about a used cooker which she bought from a Dannistrian salesman for a reasonable price of 300 BL Dollars then it broke about a week after she bought it. Then she switched back to the problem with my niece who I said earlier said that she hurt her back because of her intense practicing of Tae Kwan Do. I’ve always reminded my niece to relax a little but she refused and she more or less paid the price for doing so. Reports of me raping my daughter is totally false, it never happened. What really happened is that I told my daughter off for using the term chappie, which as you all know, is a very offensive term for a Dannistrian. She became very defensive and we got involved in a heated argument. She hasn’t spoken to me since.

Q: A photographer complained to the police that one of your bodyguards had assaulted him and destroyed his camera. Care to make a comment?

Kobyashi: Mr Simon Chang Dae Cheh was never punched nor had his camera destroyed by my bodyguard, he simply exaggerated the situation as a way gain sympathy for himself. All my bodyguard did was approach Mr Chang and told him to stand up kindly. The only moment of physical contact is where he helped Mr Chang get up by grabbing onto his clothing. The patting down part is standard procedure, mostly for mine and the visitor’s safety. The reason for my overzealous behaviour is due to the spate of attacks on important figures called happy snapping. The activity involves taking a photo of the unsuspecting target and then kicking them in the balls or head butted if a female victim. I did not want to be one of these people and that’s why I ordered my body guards to pat Mr Chang down. If he was in my position, then he would do the same thing and I will not sue him for that sole reason.

Q: Will you step down as interim administrator?

Kobyashi: In a word: no. I will not step down as Interim Administrator regardless of the overwhelming rioting which has been happening in this country since the fall of the Chenite and Nationalist regimes. I’m saying you are allowed to protest and the people are free to do so but what you can’t do is use violence as a way to justify your cause. The people have to learn to accept others of foreign origin. What the rioters have done in the last few months has proven to be detrimental to their cause and they are simply rioting over a lost causes.

— End quote

Reaction to Mr Kobayashi’s speech and Q&A session have been extremely negative and give their overall rating of his speech as unsatifactory. Critics of Mr Kobayashi have begun accusing the 48 year old of starting an incestuous relationship with his daughter in addition to the drugging accusation. At the same time, reaction to Mr Kobayashi’s attempted assassination have been highly positive and riots have broken out in most parts of the country. Many have marched into the streets chanting out “阿林, 下台!” (Pinyin: Ah Lin, Sha Tai!) meaning “Ah Lin, step down!” and most protests have broken into rioting where Japanese establishments have been looted and set on fire. Prior to the stabbing, Mr Kobayashi have given orders to the police to shoot any rioters on sight in a bid to halt any future riots from occurring in the foreseeable future.

Bomb scare at Presidential Palace in Pyongjing.

The Presidential Palace in Pyongjing has been temporarily evacuated after a suspicious looking package has been left in the lobby. The tense situation lasted only two hours when a bomb disposal squad conducted a controlled explosion, only to find out the package only contain a severed hand. The motive for the package remains unknown. In addition to the bomb scare, the culprit was arrested by police shortly after he planted the bomb. The suspect, who posed as a soldier, managed to walk into the palace where he left the package and exited quietly where a soldier asked him for ID but failed to produce any ID. Dannistrian general Duh’rahn N’outah has thanked staff for their vigilance and reminded that: “Anyone who attempts to re-produce the stunt will be punished severely. Should it happen again in the future, we won’t be so lucky.”

Chenite supporters mark anniversary of late dictator.

Supporters of the old Chenite regime have gathered outside the former Presidential Palace in Pyongjing to mark the first anniversary of former dictator Chen Jong Sun who died last year at the age of 87. The former dictator came to power after overthrowing the Nationalist junta in 1962 and has imposed a wide range of censorship into Bai Lungese society. People did not have the right to vote, newspapers were routinely edited to suit the late dictator’s needs and all television sets were modified so that they only receive government approved channels. Those who tried to deviate from Chen’s policies are often executed. Since his death, his successor, General Xu Lin Wei, has assumed Chen’s position from Sepetember to January of this year where the Nationalist have staged a coup and threatened neighbouring Dannistaan for the next 3 months. Reactions to the tribute of the late dictator has been extremely polarised. Some have been keen on the tribute while others have condemned supporters for supporting a callous and vicious dictator.

Marcel Chen screens Dannistrian war films in Nordu Dannistria City Film Festival to much boos and jeers. ISB film receives critical acclaim.

Yesterday, Marcel Chen’s civil war double bills did not receive the recognition which he wished for. Instead of the standing ovation he was expecting, his films about the Dannistrian civil war told from different perspectives was meet with jeers and booing while some members of the audience threw their score cards at the screen. Most were repulsed by the clichéd plot, the overabundance of graphic violence and the general dearth of characterisation. One critic called Marcel Chen an “amateur thief who blatantly stole ideas from other films”. Another called Chen a “racist who made a racist film, with an underlying message. That message tells Bai Lungese to revolt against the Dannistrian race”. In a Q&A session, Marcel claimed that most critics have missed the point of the film and the lack of characterisation is based on civil war veterans he has spoken to.

— Begin quote from ____

"It’s deliberate. I’ve spent 2 years conducting my own research on the civil war and it was an enthralling but frustrating experience. What made me really intrigued by the war is the people that were involved in the war. I spoke to a few dozen veterans of the war and they’ve told me the same story! The people they have befriended were killed within hours and for my films, I wanted to mimic the speedy loss of the people they have socialised with. Most people can’t accept it because they are afraid of loosing their loved ones. I don’t like boundaries at all and I want people to think more deeply about the effects of what the civil war had inflicted upon.

— End quote

The 44 year old also criticised the critics for their archaic views on today’s film making and accused them of racism & bias towards his works.

— Begin quote from ____

"The critics, especially East Dannistrian critics, savage my civil war films because I’m Bai Lungese. They won’t accept nor understand the concept of a Bai Lungese man making a film about the Dannistrian civil war. To them, it’s blasphemy. It is critical that we bridge the culture gap and this is why I made the films to strengthen Bai Lungese-Dannistrian relations. I never hindered relations with Bai Lung and Dannistaan. It’s those groups called East Dannistrians who express no satisfaction on anything. May I remind these people to WAKE UP FOR CHRIST SAKE! THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY NOT THE 10TH! You do not live in straw roofed huts, you reside in brick made buildings. You don’t hunt pigs with spears, you got to the supermarket to get meat.

— End quote

Two critics were arrested for assault after the pair argued over the film’s artistic merit. Nine others were arrested for attempting to assault Marcel Chen though he escaped with minor injuries. Some of the assailants are East Dannistrian (who attacked Chen for making the film) while others are Bai Lungese (who blamed him for the damaging relations between the two countries). One Bai Lungese heckler shouted out: “YOU DON’T KNOW YOUR MOTHER’S TONGUES! SPEAK CHINESE AND KOREAN! CHINESE AND KOREAN ONLY!!! YOU ARE A GODDAMN BANANA! YOU GUIZI WANNABE!!!” before he is taken out of the premises. According to the controversial Dannistrian film maker, he claims that there was no violent incidents at the NDCFF for the past 11 years even for highly provocative films prior to his.

Today, he screened a side project of his to a packed crowd. The film named ISB, tells about the brutal look at ISB and their treatment towards civilians. In contrast to the civil war films, it was meet with critical acclaim and received a 25 minute standing ovation. Most critics who panned his civil war double bills called ISB a “redeeming turning point” and “his most mature and finest work to date”. It was also compared to the works of F4, having a similar style to Mean Streets of Fo’raf in terms of sheer grit and the uncompromising cinematography. Some did however dislike the graphic but sporadic violence (a common usage in Marcel Chen’s films) and the shaky camerawork. ISB has been nominated for 7 awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editiing. In the Q&A session held after the screening, Chen spent over 18 years writing the script after his grandfather died in the hands of ISB in 1988. He also admitted that the 3.5 hour film is not the final cut and he would like to remove around 30 mins of subplots.

"That’s quite a shocking and very bold decision made by the benevolent judges but they’ve made the right decision. It’s been a gracious honour to accept such prestigious accolade. This is something I’ve never been dreaming of until today…
