A local jewellers has urged residents in Pingjing to return all gold belonging to them that was washed away by flash flooding only 2 days ago.

Intense raining caused flash flooding in parts of Pingjing, causing damage to several buildings and washing away inventory in shops.

Enthusiastic residents equiped themselves with metal detectors in an effort to find the washed gold and silver. However, jewellers Dà Guànmù has warned individuals that they will face criminal charges if they attempt to hoard the gold for themselves. They did not state monetary rewards for those who do return it but promised that they will earn respect from the community and be rewarded for their efforts in their later life.

WEI’S SUPERMARKET WILL NOT SELL GIANT WATERMELON AFTER FRUIT PROMOTION.

Wei’s supermarket will not sell their specially grown giant watermelon to the public after the 50% discount on all fruits ends this month.

Every major store in the country has a giant watermelon on display, promoting the offer. Weighing an average of 10kg, the watermelon is a display model and is festooned with stickers promoting the offer. There has been a few cases of the display watermelons being the target of failed robberies.

Although the fruit itself is edible, the store said they will not sell it and declined to say how they will dispose of it.

A number of private security will be deployed to a building belonging to a former school after it became the site of a drug den with plans to demolish the building being brought forward.

Jiāoyì High School, located 2 miles east of Greater Pingjing, was closed in 2022 following a merge with Sunming High School. The old building was left as it is since that time.

The old school building became a popular location for drug addicts to take drugs with the Pingjing police investigating the area only last week, finding a dozen squatters taking ketamin. They have been arrested during the raid.

CORRUPT SING REN COUNCILLOR LAY ON FLOOR AND REFUSED TO BE QUESTIONED, PROSECUTORS SAY.

Sing Ren councillor Tien Lāhè who is in detention while on trial and facing various criminal probes, lay on the floor of his cell on Friday and refused to leave it for questioning, the prosecution team has said.

Mr Tien is facing 5 charges of accepting bribes from businessmen associated with construction company SPDR. Mr Tien was suspended in January this year after it was emerged he personally accepted BL$100,000 in donations in return for awarding them 5 legal building contracts to build 5 flats in the area over competitors and without consulting his colleagues in the Sing Ren council.

During his time in detention, Mr Tien refused to leave his cell and continued to lay on the floor, face first. Nr Tiien was also force fed after refusing to eat or drink.

MAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING MONEY FROM DONATION BOX.

A man has been arrested for stealing money from a donation box at a Community centre in Pingjing.

Ai Yàduō took over BL$1,000 from the donation box at the Red Tiger Cue Sports Club in the capital’s city centre. Mr Ai, armed with cable cutters, cut open the chains holding the box down.

Mr Ai was tracked back to a friend’s apartment in the southern district of Pingjing. He offered no resistance during his arrest.

ELDERLY MAN ROBBED OF $1 MILLION BY SOPHISTICATED SCAM.

The police has issued an urgent warning to all retirees not to fall for a sophisticated phone scams from people claiming to be officials from the Gong Chūrù government.

The warning comes one day after an elderly businessman has been robbed of BL$1 million to the scheme. The scam typically starts with phone call from someone claiming to be a member of Gong’s cabinet, informing the victim that their ID card has been stolen and used for illegal activities. They would tell them that they need to give their bank details to “stop” the illegal activities caused by their stolen card as well as to “send” their victim a new ID card.

The police has told vulnerable individuals to instead hang up the call and call 112.

FORMER POLITICIAN FINED BL$5,000 FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AT RESTAURANT.

Former politician turned lobbyist Ling Wei has been fined BL$5,000 for throwing a piece of cutlery at a patron whilst dining in Hebei Delight restaurant.

Mr Wei, who was Bai Lung’s second in command during the post-Chen/Nationalist dictatorship of Bai Lung known as the Interim Period which lasted from June 2007 to December 2008. During this period, the leaders were known as Interim Administrators. Mr Wei served as Deputy Interim Administrator during June 2008 to September 2008.

Mr Wei, currently working as a lobbyist for a law firm, was found guilty of aggravated assault for throwing a spoon at patron Li Bùsēn after arguing with a close aide of Mr Wei over dessert. Mr Wei casually threw the spoon and hit Mr Li on the head. Despite apologising, Mr Li pressed charges after Mr Wei was arrested. In addition to the BL$5,000, Mr Wei is ordered not to contact Mr Li in the future.

PINGJING VINTAGE BUS EVENT OPENS IN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF BAI LUNG.

The National Museum of Bai Lung has launched the Pingjing Vintage Bus event today, showcasing the buses used over 100 years ago.

President Gong Chūrù commemorated the event by cutting a red ribbon before a crowd of 2,000 people.

110 PEOPLE CAUGHT FARE EVASION FOR FIRST CLASS SEATS ON INTER-PORT ROUTE.

110 people have been caught fare evading on purpose during the first half of the year by not paying the full amount for first class seats on the Inter-Port Route of BL Express Railway.

A return ticket cost BL$25 for standard class and $50 for first class but many commuters deliberately choose to evade all payments.

A spokesperson for BL Express Railways has announced that additional ticket inspectors and cctv cameras will be installed on the trains within the next 6 months.

Cocaine has been found inside a cheese wheel at Bai Lung International Airport.

The discovery was made by Bai Lung Customs who found the addictive drug cleverly concealed as a cheese wheel.

Weighing 5kg, it is estimated that the drug is worth an estimated BL$600,000.

At least 18 people have been arrested at the Sing Ren’s council building for launching an insurrection against the Sing Ren council.

The Sing Ren council is entirely composed of Conservative politician but BLCTV News has learned the group is affiliated with anti-government activist Po Li-Er who openly opposes the existence of government. Many of these groups have called for the Conservative government to be overthrown.

During the failed insurrection, many were armed with steel pipes and knives but were quickly thwarted by armed security.

Pingjing police have arrested a man who is suspected of being the man responsible for bringing a block of cocaine disguised as a cheese wheel.

Liang Wéiā was found at a bar in the capital. Liang attempted to flee but police stopped him from escaping from Li’s Golden Bar.

Police have reviewed CCTV footage from the airport to find clues as well as members of the public revealing his whereabouts.

TEN RAILWAY ENGINEERS SACKED FOR UNAUTHORISED STRIKES.

10 railway engineers have been dismissed by the Gong Chūrù government for engaging in unauthorised strikes.

The ten who were dismissed, took an absence of leave without informing their supervisors in advance. Unsatisfied with the working conditions, they asked for a 25% pay increase.

A statement from the government’s website confirms the group dismissal but did not specify any further other than saying their strikes had breached terms and conditions.

Kashgar leader Jumyri Andropev has scaled back his campaign to search for 5 monks to officating marriages between animals, citing the vast number of bogus applications.

Reportedly, over 10,000 applications were sent to an address used as the main recruiting office for the job but virtually all of the applications were created by Bai Lungese locals who made bogus employment history.
