A Pingjing Councilor has refused to step down from his position following a barrage of criticism for accepting gifts from car manufacturer Nantong Inc.
A story released by the Pingjing Daily alleged that Wang Tíwén accepted a Nantong Intone Gen 2 model, a pair of leather gloves and a pair of cuff links made of 24 carat gold in exchange for influencing fellow councillors to build 5 dealerships in the capital within a 5 mile radius.
Whilst Mr Wang has confirmed he received the cuff links from a senior marketing direector of the company, he denies that it was bribery, citing this director as an old friend, as well as denying that planned to persuade his colleagues to build 5 dealerships in the capital. Mr Wang has confirmed he will continue on with his job despite wide condemnation.

Over 500 people have been arrested in Pingjing for taking part in a pro-Chen Zheng Sun rally as two trucks were set on fire deliberately.

A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for carrying several blocks of plasticine that was disguised as C4 explosives back in June 2023.
Wu Tuōkǎ, who was a former online prankster prior to his conviction, carried the blocks of plasticine and walked into the Fenghuang branch of the Bank of Bai Lung pretending to be a suicide bomber.

A man has been arrested in Bai Lung International Airport for smuggling 5kg of cannabis hidden inside snack packets.
Freelance photographer Peng Tàiwén was flying from the mainland airport authorities discovered the smuggled drugs during a routine inspection.
Mr Peng immediately confessed to being responsible for smuggling the drugs and was arrested promptly.

A man has been arrested in New Jinmen on suspicion of murdering his neighbour.
Guo Jiātíng had a dispute with neighbour Wang Fěnsī when the latter was told to stop playing his erhu by 9 PM because of the noise the stringed instrument was making. Wang refused to comply, leading to a scuffle between the two. Witnesses say they could not see the subsequent action due to the two men closing the door whilst the fight happened inside Wang’s house.
Police said Mr Wang sustained head trauma likely caused by a blunt instrument used by Mr Guo.

MURDER WEAPON USED TO ATTACK ERHU PLAYER FOUND.
A 6 inch steel pipe has been found in the garage of Guo Jiātíng’s house and is believed to be the weapon that used to kill neighbour Wang Fěnsī over his playing of his erhu.
The two had a dispute over the latter’s constant playing at night. Mr Guo is accused of using the pipe to hit Mr Wang in the head with it.
Mr Wang has been formally been charged with murder. The murder case will be held on 1st March next year.
