“No, not really. Dorlania is a bit of a …well unpredictable nation”
Eszter and her friends were not as surprised as they would have, had they not listened to the first part of the tour. They decided to see what else they could learn about Dorlania’s history.
“Of course by 1926 the National Worker’s Army had gained enought troops, and defected army generals, to launch a massive offensive called the Protkgrad Push, instead of a short offensive, it dragged on for 3 years. But did bring many important victories to the NWA. By 1930 the Imperial army was on its last legs, the following year after a fatal battle that destroyed an army of 75,000. They surrendered”. The next couple years was focused on rebuilding the damaged republic’
Yalela asked the Kaiser, “So, are there any other races that live here besides humans?”
“No, your really one of the first non-humans on Dorlanian soil”
“That sounds nice,” Yalela said as they turned back to listen to the tour guide.
“I guess so”
“Another hit to the republic was a falling out with Nazi Germany. Dorlania soon turned to Soviet Union, an ally they soon would help themselves in the way of troops, guns, and armor”
While they were busy listening to the tour guide, a little Dorlanian boy, probably only six years old, kept looking at Vaska and Yalela. He somehow got away from his mother. While no one noticed him, he gently tugged on Yalela’s tail. Yalela turned and looked at the little boy. At first she was a little annoyed at someone pulling her tail, but then upon seeing who it was, she smiled. This caused the little boy’s eyes to light up in awe.
The fur he had felt wasn’t fake. It was real. And the two furry creatures standing before him were real, too.
“Heindrich, get over here. I’m sorry ma’am.” a man said, looking as if the 1950s spit him out
Paying no attention to the man’s fashion sense, Yalela smiled and said, “No harm done. A little curiosity never hurt anyone. Besides, I think he was just curious about us. We get it sometimes when we traveled to other nations who have never seen or heard of non-humans like us vulpines and lobos before. Kind of a huge culture shock if you will. Being curious of other cultures and peoples is actually something that you should encourage in your son. He might become a famous anthropologist or linguist or even a dipolmat. So, you shouldn’t be angry at him. Of course, he shouldn’t pull on other people’s tails without their permission.”
“Still, sorry. I’ll try to rememver that. I want him to become a high-ranking party member when he grows up” He pointed at a button that said “Dorlania First!” with the picture of a man wearing a Stahlhelm in the background
“He might be better off as a diplomat,” Yalela thought. “I see. Well, if he wants to become a diplomat or study other cultures, you should encourage and support him. That is how great leaders are born: through the support and devotion of friends and family does a leader evolve and grow.” Yalela had used an old Vulshainian saying. Several Dorlanians began muttering that the strange fox woman might be right.
Eszter looked at the Kaiser with worry on her face, worried that they may have insulted their hosts or don’t something taboo.
"We’ll encourage him, but were striving for that party position. Or parliament, T’is real power here. “Are we done? We still have a tour” The Kaiser was indifferent, but happy to see such a loyal party member
“Sorry. Pleae continue,” Yalela said.
“Alright, with the German attack of the Soviet Union in 1941 caused Dorlania to muster 5 volunter divisions to fight on the Eastern Front. This number would rise to 9, with the volunter army serving in important battles along the front, including Stalingrad and Berlin”
The Vulshainians listened to what was being. They glanced at some of the displays while the tour guide continued to explain another war-filled piece of Dorlanian history.
“An interesting note, despite the falling out with Germany. The dorlanian government still bought tanks up to 1941, then they started to produce soviet tanks to replace the german ones. Many of these tanks were knocked oyt on the begining of 1942 to 1943. Same goes for the death toll of stalingrad, killing 35,000 out of the 45,000 fighting there”
“Reminds me of the Monarchical Revolution,” Vaska said. Yalela nodded.
The germans though, did show both respect and mercy to Dorlanian soldiers, even letting some fight in the Wehrmacht. One german sniper once said this about a soldier he almost shot in Stalingrad ‘I saw him standing there, rifle in hand. I noticed when turned to the side he had most of his right leg in bandages. He also seemed young about 20, I decided to let him live amd have a better life’ that man would become the most hated in Dorlanian history"
“Oh this should be interesting,” Yalela said.
