General Election!

The LKE recently held a General Election with the United Left and the Imperial Party fielding canidates for the Premiership, Charles Cerebella and Brian Boru respectively. The United Left in the end secured power for a second consecutive term with all five of their canidates getting in. However, while the United Left succeeded overall, the two Imperial Party candidates that secured seats polled much higher overall. There was also some criticism in the media of two United Left Canidates that did not post a manifesto at all yet still secured seats.

Regional Population in Decline

The Government has come under attack for a recent drop in population that has seen it plummet to 135 at its lowest. Though it has now seen a small rise more effort is needed by the region to increase the population. The Prime Minister removed the inactive Interior Secretary, Louis La Courter, and replaced him with the former Leader of the Opposition, Sean Ingram. In addition to this the Minister of Statistics, Euphobes Anumia-Grey, has proposed an experiment to see what format of telegram is most successful in bringing new nations into the region.

Monarchy and Estates Common in Falling Out

There has recently been a minor clash between the Monarchy and the Estates Common over a petition to remove the inactive noble, The Duke of Locha, Westiana Crassus. The petition recieved the assent of a majority of the lower chamber and was duely presented to the Emperor by the Speaker of the Estates Common, Hem Tiberius. While the Emperor had approved a petition to pardon Sean Ingram of contempt of court a few days earlier, he decided to reject this one due to Crassus’s exemplary record in the region thus sparking a row with some members of the Estates Common and the Crown Prince Onderkelkia and The Baroness of Ariane, Viktoria Gryfynn who defended the Emperor’s position. Introductions

Hello All,
To begin I would like to introduce myself, I’m Brian Boru. I have recently been appointed Secretary of the Exterior (I also serve as Secretary of Justice) following our Former Secretary of the Exterior Kurogane Wolfram becoming inactive. I wish to apologise to all for our rather quiet Foreign Relations so far but I can assure they are about to improve entirely.

I would like to present you with the first of our soon to be quite frequent updates.

April Fools

Like many regions who have anyone named Anumia in them (which is quite a lot of regions) The Land of Kings and Emperors was involved in the now rather infamous April Fools Joke where Julian Anumia claimed to take over the region.

This has caused quite a stir within The Land of Kings and Emperors and has lead to Crown Prince Onder Kelkia subtly suggesting he may resign as Crown Prince because of it.

I will not comment on whether or not I found the joke funny. Because doing so could well lead to someone verbally attacking me as the region is divided on how funny this joke was. A poll was established to see how funny people regarded the joke. This poll has shown an even number finding it funny as found it in poor taste. With one person selection the option ‘It made the Baby Jesus Cry’. However when asked about this Jesus denied having ever cried in his life…although he did find the April Fools Joke rather funny.

To Economy or not to economy?

That is the question which has been at the forefront of politics in The Land of Kings and Emperors. ‘The Imperial Bank Act’ was proposed in the Estates Common a number of days ago, written by Secretary of State for the Economy, Lord Thomas Falconio. Immediately division began it what was seen as quite a unified Estates Common with many people disliking even the notion of an economy, though Lord Thomas responded trying to impress upon members of the House the need for the economy it proved unsuccessful.

Shortly after proposing the bill, Lord Thomas resigned from his position as Secretary of State for the Economy. Perhaps realising he was fighting in vain. The Prime Minister has decided not to fill the position currently, though it is believed he is actively looking for a replacement.

The outcomes of this debate are uncertain. The issue of an economy in The Land of Kings and Emperors remains unresolved. There are reports that some members have even proposed banning the word ‘economy’ from use in the region. It seems many members of the region are paranoid of the economy…but just because their paranoid doesn’t mean the economy isn’t out to get them!

Yay for Activity!

April 2nd 2010 proved to be the most active day in the life of The Land and Kings and Emperors’ forum with a total of 15 members online at the same time and a large number of posts. Winston Churchill reached the 1,000 post mark. Brian Boru reached the 600 post mark just before Charles I. Cerebella and something of a post war has broken out between them to reach the largest number of posts…if they cannot decide who the best poster is within a few weeks, a fight to the death has been proposed. The Region awaits this fight eagerly…and some people are now supporting the establishment of the economy so they can take bets on this battle to the death!

LKE is alive with The Sound of Music!

The Land of Kings and Emperors Music Society was founded recently by Secretary of State for Culture, Theodotos Ethaumasen, and has become quite popular.

The first of what is expected to be many play lists has been released with many members selecting their favourite songs and adding them to the play list.

With a wide variety of music ranging from Opera to Musical Theatre to what-can-only-be-described-as-noise the LKE has proven already that certainly has some interesting ‘tastes’.

Victory in Ile de France

On April 3rd The Land of Kings and Emperors was once again successful in battle against FRA troops when they claimed the region Ile de France as part of The Land of Kings and Emperors ever expanding Empire. Expertly lead by Crown Prince and Field Marshall Onder Kelkia the region was taken with ease.

The region of Ile de France has been a target for The Land of Kings and Emperors for some time now and the victory is one which has been well received. Many marking it as vengeance for a defeat to our ally, Great Britain and Ireland in that region in 2005.

Emperor Lucius III

All Change!
It is all change in The Land of Kings and Emperors this term. Following the end of the previous term, and the failure to deliver reform or improvements in the region’s position, the Emperor Lucius III had made radical changes to The LKE. In a move that he has long warned would happen the Emperor has dismissed the Government of The Earl of Deramore, and replaced him with the Earl of Brotherton - reverting the region back to the Fundamental Law as the start of a process of bringing in an uncodified constitution. In addition Emperor Lucius announced that he will be making radical changes to all three branches of government in the near future so stay tuned for updates on those.

New Government Announced

With the appointment of The Earl of Brotherton as First Secretary of State and Prime Minister a new government has been announced and a comprehensive plan for the region outlined. The Earl has personally taken over the Interior Ministry, the former Prime Minister, The Earl of Deramore, has become Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister and two incumbents were retained, Lord Someret at the Exterior Office and Lady Gryfynn at Culture and the Community.

The Prime Minister has announced a number of plans and targets for the new Government to reach in the near future. The aim of the Interior Ministry is to get the number of nations up to 150 by the end of the month, helped by compulsory recruitment for all Secretaries of State and Junior Ministers.
The Exterior Ministry will be focusing on the regions public relations and strengthening The LKE’s diplomacy. In the short term it shall be tasked with completing negotiations with the New Britainnian Empire successfully and to build new alliances with other regions within the invader sphere. Futhermore the Exterior Office shall be looking at further integrating the WA within the region. With the removal of all statutory regulation of the region’s cultural areas the Culture Office shall be free to intervene in them for the benefit of the region. In addition the Government shall be looking at reinvigorating the media sector of The LKE.

The Imperial Army
Forever Onwards!

With the new Government coming The LKE shall be putting a great deal of effort into the region’s military enterprises. The Prime Minister has outlined his commitment to continuing to vigorously pursue war with the Founderless Regions Alliance through all military, intelligence and diplomatic avenues available. Recently victories have been secured in The League of Reason, The New Empire of Gallifrey, Awkward Zombie and several other regions, including Arnopria, in which somewhat amusingly an FRA invasion took place after the delegacy was returned to the natives - apparently in order to change the regional flag and WFE. This lead to TNI-LKE mobilising residual forces and recapturing the region - promptly ejecting and banning their former Arch Chancellor, Cocodian, who made a poorly timed visit.
With the ratification in The New Inquisition of the Treaty of Arms Convergence, the United Imperial Armed Forces is currently being set up to help increase both regions’ presence on the battlefields of Nationstates. This combined force as outlined by the Treaty should aid both regions by uniting their command structures and enabling them greater freedom of action with missions. FRA, GRA, Rougiers and Falconias.
Well this is really a number of topics, the last of which really has absolutely nothing to do with the LKE, but they seem to lie well together.
In May after the FRA unsuccessfully invaded UKB, the LKE declared war upon them. We presumed this was naturally reciprocated immediately by the whole organisation. So, it was with some surprise around 3 weeks ago the LKE received a delightful declaration of war from the GRA, which was delivered by their loyal messenger, Rougiers. This appears to have been a further poorly thought out attempt by FRA ‘top brass’ to antagonise the internal dispute between members of the UKB and LKE. In it they attempt humour worthy of our regions fine record in this regard by referring to the LKE as the “Dastardly Defilers”. Apart from that there is little worthy of comment in their statement, as the LKE were already de facto at war with them as a member region of FRA, and their attempts to worsen LKE-UKB relations were ignored. UKsB has been recognised by the LKE as a splinter group, and we respect them as an independent state, having granted the return of their forums. They have work with the LKE on military operations regularly, and relations will be formalised and furthered over the coming weeks.
Prominent GRA member Old Zertaxia has been taken to Court in the LKE for holding multiple accounts after an IP check of nations let through during a brief amnesty on security checks was held. He under trial for this, along with Rougiers, as a traitor of the LKE due to him delivering the GRA declaration of war. This would be an appropriate time to clarify that the LKE condemns Rougiers forum destruction, that is thoroughly disapproves of stepping over this line from decent gameplay to indecent destruction of the game, and that it sends its sympathies to those damaged by this traversty.
Oh yeah, Falconias, well we always said he was dodgy, turns out we were right. We look forwards to relations with Europeia continuing to improve with his increasing absence. Yeah, that’s really it, this really wouldn’t have even made the update here if it didn’t happen like a few hours ago. Oh yeah, and there is a classic Falco vs Savaer face-off in the FRA, definitely worth a visit if you’re a sadistic maniac like the author.

LKE Culture Update.
The LKE culture ministry is in the middle of hosting a Last Man Standing competition between the LKE and TNI. 12 people in all signed up from both regions, and the results have been incredibly interesting to watch. among the more amusing of these, is the fact that the Culture minister herself was eliminated quite early on.

Brian Boru and Jeff Geary remain the only 2 members of the LKE still in the game, playing against 3 remaining TNIers.

The Culture Minister has also hired 2 deputies to assist in the revival of some of the important aspects of LKE culture. Emperor Lucius III himself heads up the university, which will soon be undergoing major changes, and Kurogane Wolfram has been put in charge of the LKE’s debating society.

The culture points competition has seen a fair amount of competition as well, with many members being awarded points for their topics and posts. To check out any of these events and happenings, just drop by the LKE forums.

Parliament has been dissolved whilst the interim government achieves key goals
Parliamentary Update
Recently there has been a focus on overrides in the Estates Common. Overrides of the Constitutional Amendment dealing with the removal of Peers and The Parliamentary Speech Act 2010 have received vast support from the Estates Common.

An override of the Citizenship and Diplomatic Status bill was proposed but did not receive the required support.

The Treaty of Arms Convergence was not ratified by the Estates Common as it was defeated at voting.

The Estates Common Activity Act is approaching its final vote stage and should hopefully reach the Estates Noble in the near future.

There has been discussion on an Estates Common Medal, which would be awarded to members who vote on every vote in the Estates Common in a term which has received support as an incentive to encourage participation in the House.

If I were to reflect on the activity in the Estates Common recently I would highlight that whilst there are some clear signs of agreement e.g. the passing of the Constitutional Amendment for Peers Removal there are also some definite disagreements and divides within the Estates Common as seen in the Treaty of Arms Convergence.

Emperor Lucius III has become posthumously known as Lucius the Weary. Emperor Onder is the the ninth Emperor since November 2005.

Victory in New Haven
On 30 December 2010, the Imperial Army of The LKE, with the assistance of historic ally Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I), temporarily conquered Free Haven for the Empire. The FRA has failed to liberate the region yet. Despite this victory, more must be done.

The Founding of The Media

The LKE Media was officially formed today when the Emperor started a media category and allowed Newspapers to be set up. The Emperor said ‘I am delighted that we now have a system of free press, it should keep my Ministers and me on our toes.’ The Prime minister is also reported to be pleased. Already there are two newspapers in LKE, The LKE Today (our own beloved newspaper) and The Imperial Times. The Minister of War is to be the editor of the Imperial Times, which to no ones surprise is a newspaper sympathising with the Imperial Party. The LKE Today is officialy the Oldest newspaper.

University Founded

The University of LKE was opened today. Many people are very pleased as they consider it a cultural advancement of LKE. The University does not yet have a Professor but it is hoped that one will be found once more people join the forums. The University will also house the History of LKE. History has always been of great importance to the Leaders of LKE. It is also hoped that the university will have many other topics.

HM vs PM

There is an increasing strain being put on LKE politics as the Prime Minister and his Ministers are openly attacking the Emperor’s power and the Emperor is openly opposing them. This is now the second major row that the Emperor has had with his government. So far however the Emperor has shown extraordinary restraint, he has not used the ultimate weapon of dismissing his government. That said it does seem that at the present time the Cabinet has a slight advantage over the Palace. This row seems to be getting constantly worse as what was quiet criticism on behalf of the Cabinet has now blown up into a full attack on the Monarchy. At present it seems that neither can survive while the other lives. This truly is HM vs PM.

Not Guilty

The Empire of the Water Benders was found NOT GUILTY yesterday in court, this is mainly due to the fact that the Prosecution could find no hard evidence against him. It was simply the Prosecutor’s word against the Defence’s. As such the Judge cleared him of the charge. As the defence lawyer pointed out, He is just a political threat to you. This case has cooled relations even more between the Palace and the Prime Minister.
                                 
                                      Residence opened

The Prime Minister has now got an official residence to move into. This is due to the desicion the Emperor made deciding that the Prime Minister needed somewhere to personally conduct the affairs of the nation. This was designed by the Emperor to be ‘Practical’ but many people are speculating if this was not an offer by the Emperor to improve relations. Either way it has greatly enhanced the Prime Minister’s prestige.

Habsburg Castle to be renamed?

There have been some calls among Ministers to rename Habsburg Castle. While it does not have widespread support yet it has benn interpretated as another attack on the Emperor. However His Majesty said ‘If it is passed through the Commons and the Lords then I will sign it’. The Prime Minister has not yet commented on the proceedings.

Elite LKE military forces remain prolific!

The LKE military has continued to provide assistance to TNI point military raids, in New Dragonia and Leiran.

New Dragonia, which had only recently been “liberated” by FRA forces, was captured by allied forces on the 4th February, including LKE support.

Leiran was part of a dual update raid conducted by TNI forces on the 11th February, which also targeted historic RLA region Marxist Leninist Party. LKE forces assisted with multiple support units in Leiran.

At home and abroad, LKE rebuilds

The LKE last month welcomed the President of Europeia, Oliver Dion-Grey, on a state visit. This was followed by private talks between both regions’ foreign ministers. Additionally, The LKE has entered into alliance talks with The New Inquisition.

Since the regional revival effort began our population has grown by 102% and is now back over 70 nations. This is due to the tremendous dedication of our recruitment team.

So far 326 telegrams have been distributed this week. Congratulations to our recruiters. In particular, the efforts of the Prime Minister should be highlighted.

The LKE Government and people are now making every effort to foster a welcoming environment for our new arrivals.

LKE Culture and Community Update.
The region is ecstatic at the news that a state funeral is to take place for the late Emperor Lucius the Weary. This to be followed by a coronation for Emperor Onder. Edward Fairmont has been appointed Lord Great Chamberlain to organise the ceremonies. Foreign dignitaries will be invited to the coronation event.

The Community Minister, Viktoria Gryfynn, is to be congratulated for running a trivia competition. This has proved to be a great success with fierce competition. Wilhelm Somerset has so far taken the lead, but Bolden Anumia is close behind him.

LKE Military Shows Her Stuff

The LKE military has recently succeeded in a series of invasions, showing once again why the region is still held in high regard among the imperialist and raider community. In addition to victories with TNI in Erisopia, Haven, Geneticor, World Status, The Realms of Cyrodiil and The__Balkans, the Imperial Army secured The Security Council, a known FRA hive and home to those who write resolutions in the WA Security Council, and conquered it. The then FRA Arch Chancellor, Unibot, was damaged by the attack, leaving them a fragmented mess, a condition which continues to this day due to other troubles.

Elections Completed

It has been a tense week for the LKE, with senate and Prime Ministerial elections taking place side by side in Capitolinus Mons. 5 candidates battled it out for the 3 elected places in the senate. The results were as follows.

Viktoria Gryfynn, James Pigeon and William Wellesley all gained seats in the senate, with newcomer William Wellesley surprising everyone by picking up the most votes of any candidate.

Possibly because of the extreme closeness in the election and because of the dedication of the left over candidates, Emperor Onder appointed Kurogane Wolfram Grey and Judge JT as senators, Judge JT being given a peerage to be able to serve. Thomas Falconio was also appointed a senator.

The real battle was fought between last term’s Prime Minister James Pigeon and hopeful former Prime Minister Viktoria Gryfynn. Gryfynn had a tough race
against the man who brought the LKE back to activity. The final results were:

So Happy Together: NBE signs alliance with LKE

The New Britannian Empire has signed an allliance with the Land of Kings and Emperors. These two regions have worked together many times in the past, most recently in Geneticor. These two finally became closer, through the signing of the Treaty of Hedingham Palace, bringing the two independent, invader regions into formal alliance. Thanks to all who were involved in this diplomatic triumph.

The LKE springs back to life

After the loss of the old forums and the loss of influence of the old Land of Kings and Emperors, James Pigeon, former PM of the LKE, brought the forums back to life again, and things are looking to continue under Lady Viktoria Gryfynn. The culture is booming, the exterior bustling, and this once great region seems back on the track to its former glory. Special thanks to Onder Kelkia for working so hard to bring the region and to everyone who returned.

INTEREGIONAL MAFIA GAME

A dark shadow has descended on the fair Land of Kings and Emperors. The region is in the grip of the dark organisation which is the Mafia. We cannot do this alone. We call on our friends in other regions to assist us, but it appears the Mafia have friends in foreign parts as well.
So who shall win?

You know how annoying it can be sometimes when you can only just scrape enough members together to have a game of Mafia? Well we do, and we’ve decided that the solution to that will be to hold a great big game where lots of regions can play. To make it slightly fairer however, we shall only be accepting 5 participants from each region.

Introducing A New Senate and Government

Mid August saw the LKE head to the polls once more to elect a new Prime Minister and Senate. James Pigeon of the Imperial Party and the previous PM chose not to run for a third term in favour of Joseph Earhart-Anumia.

After winning the race, he was quick to announce the Cabinet and outline his plans and goals for the region.

The PM’s cabinet choices include people of all kinds of experience in NationsSates. James Pigeon, a former Prime Minister of excellent standing was given two portfolios to take care of while relative newcomer Athelstan MacGregor rose to the appointment of Deputy. This new cabinet also sees Viktoria Gryfynn, usually to be found haunting the Culture Ministry, moving up to take the Exterior Ministry position.

The LKE’s population currently stands at 263, which is the highest it has ever been in the history of the region, but forum activity is still below its peak, and this Government have a lot to do in the coming term.

The LKE also has a newly elected Senate. The results of the Senate election are as follows:

Cultural Developments

Recently the LKE forums have been the scene for intelligent discussion and debate, much of it centred round religion. This is due to the foundation of a new church and the revival of another. The recently created Church of Rationality, which is a haven for the Atheists of the LKE has discussed the philosophy of determinism and the argument against the idea that children can be born in sin. The newly revived Anglican church has also been posting services for its members. Imperial Square has also been very active with discussions on ethics, Scottish independence and the relationship between church and state. Overall, the activity on our forums has been a lot better of late, and we would love you to drop by and share your opinions.

Elections Bring Change of Leadership

The political tide in the LKE has changed once again with the Imperial Party not contesting the position of Prime Minister in the recently held elections. Viktoria Gryfynn won herself the position uncontested and was thus able to form government along with support from the Imperial party and the GFJ. The Senate elections saw much more interest however with 6 candidates running for the 3 elected seats.

LKE and Lazarus sign Treaty

In what could be considered one of the most successful foreign affairs events in the LKE’s recent history, The LKE and Lazarus (the largest region in the game) have signed an agreement of Non-agression and Support for one another. The treaty also states that the signatories should work together on cultural events and defend one another in case of attack and share relevant information with each other.

The Treaty with Lazarus helps everyone concerned. Lazarus is a region that welcomes both invaders and defenders alike, and so it’s in our best interest that a region so welcoming to both sides is not pushed one way or another, and considering that the government of Lazarus contains invaders who the LKE is on good terms with, there is no reason why the LKE should attack or support an attack on Lazarus. In return, the LKE gains a lasting friendship with the largest region in the game. This is win win.

The treaty has since passed the Emerald Council and is now waiting on ratification by the new Senate of the LKE after elections.

New Cabinet formed

Prime Minister Gryfynn was quick off the mark to form her new Cabinet, which largely consists of the most active members of the region. In her acceptance speech she said:

I don’t know if I should be extremely grateful or worried that I am once again in this position of great responsibility. Having won the race totally uncontested leaves me with a feeling of both, I suppose. I am not good at ideas when it comes to legislation. I said as much in my campaign speech. What I do feel that I do well however is activity, and primarily, that is what the region needs.

Our biggest need right now is community. We have a wonderfully dedicated Emperor who recruits on a daily basis with much success. We have a great network of friends and allies and we have great military minds in government. What concerns me however is the fact that our community here goes through stages of activity, and that not enough of us seem to be focused on the fact that this is a region like every other ns region that is driven by its members and the attraction for new members to stay here.

You don’t have to be elected Prime Minister, or selected as Culture Minister to care about our community, in fact, the day to day cultural aspect of this region should be of concern to everyone, as it is what is going to keep people here and keep them active, and I want this to be a central idea behind my term.

And so we come to the cabinet. This has been a particularly hard job, considering the lack of activity shown in the region of late, and the fact that some positions, mainly Interior, have been literally impossible to fill.

However here is the cabinet as it stands. If anyone is interested in the Interior position, please contact me.

Deputy PM: Jeff Geary

I trust Mr Geary to be one of the most active members of our community, and thus to be here if I am unable to be. I also trust him to assist me in any tasks where I need some extra help. I am glad that he has accepted this position.

Exterior Minister: Myself

A little unconventional, I know, but I feel that there are still many things I want to achieve from this term and the best way I can do that is to handle this portfolio myself, as no minister likes having their toes trodden on frequently, and it also allows me to ensure that all other positions have an active member.

Colonial Minister: Athelstan MacGregor

As Archon of Polis, I feel he is well placed to fill this role. Also, as the colonial policy was largely an Imperial Party endeavor, I am going to give him the opportunity to bring some life back to this ministry.

Culture Minister: TEXARRAKIS

As the founder of another very large region, I feel that this newcomer has a lot to bring to the LKE, and especially in this role. He knows the importance of forum activity, and I feel giving this position to a newer member may bring some life back into the ministry, which it desperately needs. I am also toying with the idea of appointing a second culture minister, should there be a need for it, but we will see how we go.

I would like to remind you all, that I am a person who deals with people, and not parties. and my cabinet shall be treated in the same manner. thus, your parties do not exist inside cabinet, and you should therefore do your best to support one another. As far as I am concerned, our region is too fragile to sustain party friction and it is likely to hinder rather than help us at this stage, so I am advising all of you to think very seriously about what you care for and to prioritise the LKE as a whole over any party.

New Crown Prince

Due to the inability of HEM Tiberius to be active in the role of Crown Prince of the region, Emperor Onder recently made an announcement replacing him with one of the region’s oldest members, Thomas Falconio. This appointment promises to be a far more active one which can only be good for the LKE. In his speech to the region the Emperor stated:

I would like to thank HEM Tiberius for his valued service as Crown Prince since early January 2011. He has participated in regional life, provided valuable advice and acted on multiple occasions as Prince Regent. However, regrettably he can no longer maintain the activity required of Imperial Royalty. After consultation, I have therefore decided to replace him. He will be granted a peerage in the future.

Thomas Falconio has been one of this region’s longest serving members and since the October 2009 revival has served as Prime Minister on two separate occasions. Presently, he has not been highly active but when given the duties of Crown Prince, I am confident will rise to the task. I am therefore creating him Crown Prince of The Land of Kings and Emperors, and Archduke of Niso. He will be active throughout our region and government, provide advice to me and act as regent in my absence. Please join me in congratulating him.

The political tide in the LKE changed once again. James Pigeon of The Imperial Party ran against Kurogane Wolfram Grey of the United Left Party. James Pigeon was elected Prime Minister with over 72% of the vote.

The Senate election was one of the closest contested in LKE History, which lead Emperor Onder to extend the number of Senate seats to 10, the largest the Senate has ever been. The results of the election were as follows:

Elections Bring The Imperial Party Back
A historic event has taken place in this election as it marks the first re-election of a Prime Minister in the new Constitution. James Pigeon of The Imperial Party ran against the Independent Viktoria Gryfynn in an extremely close battle. James Pigeon was re-elected Prime Minister by a majority of a single vote.

Friendship Cemented
The LKE has been devoted to expanding our friendship, or cementing those already existing. We have recently signed several Treaties, but we hope this is only the start of a new era in our Foreign Affairs. Our recently signed Treaties can be seen below:

Europeia and The LKE have shared a close relationship and partnership for some time now, although there was never an official alliance. The new Government seen it as a very important task to cement the bond between our two regions and therefore signed the ‘Treaty of Taunton’.

With the rather recent re-founding of The United Kingdom of Britain, the Government viewed it as a priority to re-establish relations with the region, who have shared an extremely close relationship with The LKE since their succeeding from the Empire. The ‘Treaty of Renewed Friendship’ was signed and marks a new era in the relationship of our regions.

Sharing common features is always a draw when establishing a friendship and that can be seen in the recent developments with The Greater Wetlands, who The LKE signed the ‘Treaty of Layton’ with. We hope to continue to develop this relationship and bring both regions closer in future.

A Year On
Last night, on the 31st of December, The Emperor released a statement detailing our development and a comparison towards The LKE of old. Here are some highlights of His statement:

Greetings one and all,

I write this speech as Prime Minister of The Land of Kings and Emperors - a first for me. I can only thank you all for the support you have given my party, The Imperial Party, and myself. I must also thank James Pigeon - my predecessor and friend. Without him, I most certainly wouldn’t be where I am now.

I have become Premier when The LKE is in a good position, but I aim to better that. Within the last two Imperial Party Governments we have contributed a lot to The LKE and built it to levels it hasn’t been at for some time, and I wish to continue to improve this great region.

At the core of my aims for this term is culture and legislation, but we shall of course be continuing our large effort into the other departments. I invite you all to read the Manifesto of The Imperial Party for more details, but for now I would like to inform you of the Ministry of Consultation - a new Ministry which I have created out of the old Minstries of Justice, Information, Statistics, Employment and Labour and the Government Image Storage and Distribution Agency.

The Ministry of Consultation is a non legislative bureaucratic Ministry, built on the foundation of advising, planning, and building the groundwork of action within government. It shall be a force to help place the government in focus and raise efficiency with it’s work, as well as cutting out old and out of use Ministries.

Emperor Onder recently made a speech on the state of the LKE’s empire.

I have two important announcements on aspects of our Empire.

First, that talks are currently underway negotiating the admission of The Imperial Legion (currently 125 nations, previously over 300 antions) to the Empire. Emperor TEXARAKIS (Gavin Novawk) initiated this process in order to find a way of reviving TIL with The LKE. The LKE cannot work miracles, but saving TIL will not be a miracle and The LKE will provide support to boost TIL’s domestic activity and stabilise its population. Naturally, this colony will be a high priority. We have other priorities too, such as Polis, TLOD, IE and Maxonberg. We need to ensure our resources are not spread too thin by concentrating efforts on these regions, in particular in helping them become sustainable. At the same time as we do this, we must ensure the LKE remains our chief priority as the heart of the Empire. In the meantime, a treaty will be produced between us and TIL outlining the terms of their ascension. We look forward to working with their people and government to secure improvement in their condition.

Second, following a proposal from the Secretary of State for Consultation, I have decidedd to invite senior Imperial Government officials and individuals with a relevant interest in immigration within the Empire and colonial representation to attend a conference in Maxonberg on that issue. This conference does not have a specific steer and is not necessarily in favour of a policy change, but instead will represent a varied range of opinion and thus be able to come to a conclusive view of the matter. In their government capacities, in addition to the Secretary of State for Consultation, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Colonial Minister and the Interregional Development Minister are invited. Additinionally, in order to provide more perspective on the issue, two senior Guardian Counsellors, James Pigeon (Governor-General of Polis) and Megaleiotha Eirhno (Governor-General of Imperial Elite), are also invited to attend. The conference forum will be set up today.

Declaration of War

Concerning the United Defenders League

On the morning of 4th April 2012, the Emperor made the following address to the region:[hr]Citizens of The Land of Kings and Emperors

It is now 2 days, 19 hours ago since the region ‘The Dominion of Munster’ was founded by Mahaj, Lieutenant of the United Defenders League. This region was originally created by TNI and LKE forces operating out of Munster, an LKE colony, as an instant jump point. Munster is currently a founded colony and initially joined The LKE Empire in July 2006. Naturally, as an IJP region, ‘The Dominion of Munster’ was left to die peacefully upon the cessation of military operations during that update. Subsequently, Mahaj chose to refound it and branded the World Factbook Entry with the words ‘Lifted from LKE tyranny.’ This is a poor imitation of an LKE colony which constitutes an infringement of LKE sovereignty.

Moreover, the rhetoric used in the World Factbook Entry is an unwarranted slur against The LKE’s governance of its Empire. It is a comment which could only be made in pure ignorance of the strong support which LKE rule receives from natives throughout the Empire, from Polis to The Land of Dragonia. The Electorate of Munster, while presently inactive, was no exception when a native population endured during 2007 and continues to be preserved, with the possibility of a future when resources can be devoted to it, as a result of The LKE’s commitment. In no way can The LKE’s actions be regarded as tyrannical. However, the rights and wrongs of this issue are not up for discussion. The LKE’s sovereignty is non-negotiable and paramount. The UDL, through their senior officer, have breached it.

This is not for the first time. Only sixteen days ago, the UDL invaded Cingeta, the former LKE colony of Cingeta, in order to repel an invasion by a miniscule third party. The Kelkia Doctrine, established on 5th May 2007, states that The LKE considers any attempts by anyone to colonise or otherwise territorially interfere with any of its colonies or former colonies hostile and will take diplomatic and even military action against those who do. This extended LKE protection to those regions which we granted independence from the Empire, with the first application being to prevent United America being colonised by The New Inquisition. The UDL’s occupation of Cingeta, when an alternative LKE force was being readied to free Cingeta from occupation by an irrelevant backwater, amounted to territorial interference of this kind, breaching The LKE’s sphere of protection. Understanding that the UDL may not have appreciated that LKE forces were on the way or of Cingeta’s status as a former LKE colony, the Imperial Government did not strictly apply the Kelkia Doctrine in this instance.

However, this leniency and tolerance was abused. With the UDL’s refounding of ‘The Dominion of Munster’, it is evident that they have demonstrated a pattern of behaviour which shows they have no respect for LKE sovereignty or territorial rights. Having spent the last two days giving serious consideration to the UDL’s actions in ‘The Dominion of Munster’, in addition to their more general conduct adverse to LKE interests, The LKE has determined that there is only one way forward which guarantees LKE sovereignty in the future and recognises the gravity of the UDL’s actions. The UDL may claim that what happened in ‘The Dominion of Munster’ is solely Mahaj’s responsibility, but as a Lieutenant of the UDL, Mahaj must expect his military actions to be taken as representative of the UDL and refounding an instant-jump point of TNI and LKE forces is an action taken in a military context.

Therefore, The Land of Kings and Emperors declares war on the United Defenders League.

It is nearly two years to the day in May 2010 when I, as Prince Regent, made the Declaration of War against the Founderless Regions Alliance over their invasion of United Kingdom of Britain and over five years since, in December 2006, Emperor Lucius I declared war on the FRA and the RLA over their actions in Valhalla and Iraq, a war which The LKE (but not TNI) ended in January 2007 with the dissolution of Pactium Imperium. These were all separate conflicts and so is this one, independent of our War with the FRA, which the UDL brought upon themselves as a result of their own contemptuous behaviour towards The LKE. It may be mere coincidence that gross disrespect for regional sovereignty has been shared by many major super-regional defender organisations, from the UDL to the ADN/DSA (against which The LKE still holds their member-region The Wild West, invaded as a result of their attempted interference with the successful LKE invaison of Marxist Leninist Party, an RLA region, in June 2007). The FRA, like the ADN, have learnt the repercussions of violating the territory of independent, imperialist regions like TNI and The LKE, hence the recent invasion of The Rejected Realms and the occupation of Soviet Union.

Unlike these organisations, the UDL does not have a region or regions. Yet this state of hostilities means something. For, like the ADN and the FRA, both of which are no longer capable of offering any resistance, the UDL will come to learn the necessity of respecting LKE sovereignty, albeit in a different way. No longer will The LKE passively tolerate the UDL conspiring with the FRA to oppose LKE military operations. Henceforth, UDL interests will be aggressively opposed by The LKE and even where direct military gains are not taken from the UDL (though some regions, despite not claiming to be so, are effectively UDL puppet states and will be treated as such), the war of attrition has proven highly damaging to the FRA, as it will to the UDL, while The LKE continues to prosper. The UDL have made their own bed, but will face the same fate as the FRA.
