November Update

The Tragedy

This month, United Kingdom was attacked by a person who has called himself Zero. This attack posted horrific and disgusting images on our former website and destroyed so much of our history. But what it has not done is destroyed our hearts and love for our region. Thanks to the FRA and the wonderful members of the UK, we are once again reborn and we are as strong as ever before. The United Kingdom Survives…Recently the former King of the United Kingdom and former Emperor of NBE, Alexander I, was considered by authorities to have been behind the attacks on the forum and was charged with high treason and banned from the region

The Monarchy

On November 7th, King Alexander Stuart abdicated the throne of United Kingdom, ending his short-lived reign as King and handed the Crown to popular Prime Minister, Elizabeth Stuart. Since then Her Majesty has resigned from her position as Prime Minister and has been crowned Queen of United Kingdom.

*Her royal highness, Queen Elizabeth

The Elections

This week elections took place to name the next Prime Minister of United Kingdom and it would be the first ever male Prime Minister to take office in a female dominated region of late. Alex Beckett O’Connor, Robert Kennedy, South Boston Irishmen, and Michael Stuart all stood for the honor of being Prime Minister. A run off election needed to take place when SBI and Michael Stuart polled a draw and Alex and Robert were removed from the race. It would finally come to emerge that Michael Stuart, the Prince of Wales, would be named the new Prime Minister and in a move of good will, SBI would be named his Deputy Prime Minister

The Government

The Government of United Kingdom has responded to the recent attacks on our forums with great force. The United Kingdom is once again United in its cause as the Government begins to legislate. Our new constitution has been written into law with special thanks to our former Prime Minister Constance St. James for drafting the document. The economy has also been started once again by the Chancellor, Donovan Graham, and businesses are starting to once again be created.

Michael Stuart Retires, new Chief Justice named

On November 7th the Chief Justice and Prince of Wales announced a shocking surprise to the United Kingdom, that he would be retiring from Nationstates. Michael leaves behind him many friends and a region that wishes him all the best. With his retirement Nick Stuart, the son of Michael, was named by the Parliament as the new Chief Justice and now has the job of remaking the courts to the standards his father had them back on our old forums and if possible better.

UK Brand New?

Since Prime Minister Alex Beckett also known as Prince Stuart, has moved into 10 Downing; he has been showing promise of a better UK. Yet many are still skeptical of the new leader. United Kingdom currently faces many problems - the economy sour & upcoming government salaries, poor relations with New Britannian Empire (NBE), and a military force rendered useless due to poor recruiting results to name a few. Many have questioned what he will do to fulfill all these problems. During his campaign he was very vague on his actual actions to achieve success, yet he stands by his promises. Most times it is found that the same politicians that promise the world to their voters, they end up taking a new agenda when they enter Westminster. The country waits to see how this will go.

Steelers or Jets?

For you American football fans, the current Foreign Secretary Silver Steps and Associate Justice PASD have a made a bet. Immediately with the results of the AFC championship, the fan of the losing team will change their avatar to the winning team’s star player. Good luck to you both.

London Gets Moving, State Funeral of McDermott in EdinburghLondon

Well it just seems, the region’s capital will never see the prominence it’s RL counterpart has achieved. However through all the criticism, London has finally got to work at the London Assembly. Current ideas stem from cultural events to the development of a separate residential area. The then Minister of Defence Alex Beckett, now our newly elected Prime Minister, was rebuffed by the local assembly for a by-election to fill their vacancy. The current Londoners are to busy in perfecting the city and putting it back into regional concern. Currently a committee is being formed consisting of some of the London and Regional officials to discuss events for the populous.

Edinburgh

Ladies and gentlemen, their is sadness in the north. About a month after St. Giles’ Cathedral hosted the Late Robert Kennedy’s state funeral, the Prince of Wales championed the State Funeral of the late Benjamin McDermott - a Scotland native. McDermott was known to be one of the most passionate politicians United Kingdom have ever witnessed.Being a minority leader did not stop him from representing the voice of Scotland and advancing United Kingdom as a whole. He was the first to introduce an education system to the country and serve as the first dean for United Kingdom. He was able to inspire others to do good and benefit the region. He made sure that he represented the people, and that the laws passed by Parliament was fair and just. The Prince was in full military dress, he and McDermott were good friends. Many from around Scotland and the rest of the country came to give their respects. Among those attendees were former Associate Justice, Johnathan Doyle (Volare), former Chancellor of the Exchequer Donovan Graham, and current Foreign Secretary Silver Steps. The death of Benjamin McDermott was a great blow to the royal family and the people; especially, those native to the Scotland. He was able to inspire the hearts of the Scots. A deed that the current incumbent of the Scotland seat, Keiren Tudor, has to achieve.

Rule Britannia! Open your coffers! TNB’s dealings

On January 16th, Charles Louis Telsontair, MP as the bank president of the largest and only bank, TNB, stated that The National Bank & Trust will be giving a free stimulus of money for some plans that will be occurring in the future. We are yet to know of those plans. Yet, the better question is: where the bloody hell is the money? Many outstanding citizens, like Mayor of Edinburgh - James Tudor have been championing economic despair. He has repeatedly been demanding from any official of the benefits of the British economy and how it will provide for the British people. Politicians are yet to answer his demand. Such resentment that have stipulated from these concerns with Parliament increasing and adding more taxes for the British people to pay. Sources of anxiety that react to this is the fact many citizens are unemployed and not receiving a balanced salary. However, many have responded the AIO system have done them good - receiving substantial amounts of money.

Currently by stock reports from the London Stock Exchange (LSE), Chief Justice Constance St. James is the richest Briton and woman in the United Kingdom at a peak of over £21.4 thousand. Shortly after her, current Chancellor of the Exchequer Charles Louis £21.11 thousand. Even though few have been able to make substantial amounts of money, they have proven it is possible to have it made in UK. The only way you could achieve that goal is to try and put some dedication.[hr][hr][hr]

A new New Britannian Empire

A new government cabinet has been formed in New Britannian Empire. We are yet to see how the government performs in the region and UK-NBE relations.[hr][hr][hr]

If you’re thinking “didn’t we just get one of these?” you aren’t far off. Last months election, after some debate, was announced to be a special election and therefore only a one month term. Thus, a full election for all elected position was held this month.

Finally, the general election in UK is over with, an election that may go down as the longest election in UK history. Polls first opened four days ago to decide the new Prime Minister, the new Parliament and the Mayor of London. Two days ago on April 26th, Constance St. James, the Chief Justice, closed the polls, but at that time three polls were still undecided, including two MP seats and the Prime Minister’s office. Run off polls then opened for 24 hours, after which one of the three runoff’s were decided and the other two went to the newly elected MP’s who would decide. The new members of Parliament, where the Sinn Fein party already had gained a majority, swiftly elected SBI, the SF party leader to the position of Prime Minister. The entire results are as followed:

South Boston Irishmen has been elected as Prime Minister (SF)
South Boston Irishmen has been elected MP for Northern Ireland (SF)
Robert Kennedy has been elected MP for Scotland (Ind.)
Marshall G. Holdstock has been elected MP for Southern England (SF)
Bill Dearheart has been elected MP for Northern England (SF)
British Orange has been elected Mayor of London (SF)

*SF= Sinn Fein Party
Ind.= Independent, no party affiliation

New Government Cabinet

Newly reelected Prime Minister SBI quickly announced his cabinet for the new term, which until now was not known to anyone in UK, not even the people selected for the positions. The new Cabinet is as follows:

Prime Minister: South Boston Irishmen
Deputy Prime Minister: British Orange
Minister of Home Office: Nishan
Minister of Foreign Affairs: South Boston Irishmen
Minister of Defence: Prince James
Minister of Culture: British Orange
Chancellor of the Exchequer: Alex Beckett
Attorney General: South Boston Irishmen
Director of the M15: Alex Beckett

Thank you for the update!

Large Changes to UK Government Announced

This picture was found under the door to offices belonging to several Cabinet Members. It is unclear who sent the mysterious message with no obvious meaning.

Economy-
Earlier in the week, Prime Minister South Boston Irishmen announced that large parts of the UK economy would be shut down in order to “focus on more important aspects of the region”. Soon after the announcement was made, the Parliament of UK voted in favor of a large repeal of all laws dealing with the UK economy for a period of three weeks.

Cabinet-

With the massive shutdown of the UK economy, the Prime Minister announced that the position of Chancellor would be suspended, said office previously being filled by Alex Beckett. Shortly after it was announced that Prince James, the Minister of Defense, had resigned, and that position was now, and remains to be, vacant. The Parliament of UK carried out one of the only impeachment orders in the history of UK against the Deputy Prime Minister and Culture Secretary, British Orange due to severe inactivity. Soon after his removal, the Prime Minister announced that Associate Justice Silver Steps would be taking the position of Deputy Prime Minister, while Charles Buckingham, a former UK Minister of Defense, would step in as the Minister of Culture.

Military-

With the position of Minister of Defense still sitting empty, it was announced today by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth that the military would become a defensive force only. She announced that no foreign military actions would be allowed and that not even training missions in other NS regions would continue. This comes as a virtual shut down to the military, as they not cannot do… anything.

Rise in new Political Parties?

New political parties fight for membership numbers

The past several weeks have seen a rise in three brand new political parties to United Kingdom. However, will any of them be active?

Fianna Fail, a socially republican party was formed on May 15, however only one member has shown any interest and no posts have been made in over a week.

Patriotic Progressive Party, formed on May 18 has a center party looking to stop any one person from gaining too much power. However, the PPP has had the same problems has Fianna Fail, and it does not look likely to survive.

Liberal Conservative Party, formed May 30 has another center party. This party looks to be active and has seen one or two people show curiosity in the party, however it’s just too soon to tell.

Recruitment on the Rise

Prime Minister South Boston Irishmen (left) and Deputy Prime Minister Silver Steps (right) discuss changes to the recruiting campaign.

The past week has seen a sharp rise in recruiting from Government and citizens alike. Thanks in part to a “10 tg’s a day keeps regional death away” campaign by Deputy Prime Minister Silver Steps. Several citizens who did not normally recruit in the past have been seen sending out daily telegrams, and thanks to their work, the population of UK has started to level out. Over the past 6 months the regions population has dropped from around 230 down to 150. It is the Prime Minister’s hope that continued work will show a bump in the regional population.

General Elections Upcoming

http://0.tqn.com/d/politicalhumor/1/0/X/t/2/protest-youth-in-asia.jpg
Political Rallies have been taking place across the region in support of a number of candidates

With just two weeks remaining in the current term, candidates from across the political spectrum are preparing themselves for the upcoming elections. With the popularity of current Prime Minister South Boston Irishmen at an all time low, the Prime Minister race is looking to be even more exciting than usual.

So far, the candidates who have registered for the Prime Minister race are:
Nick Stillwell (LCP)
South Boston Irishmen (SF)
Charles Louis (NAP)
Alex Beckett (Ind.)

In the recent opinion poll, Nick Stillwell lead the polls, while Charles Louis places second, South Boston Irishmen third and Alex Beckett came in last.

In the race for the five Parliament seats, to this point the Candidates stand as thus:

Northern Ireland
South Boston Irishmen (SF)
Ebonhawk (NAP)
William Bettingham (Ind)

Northern England
Bill Dearheart (LCP)

Southern England
Marshall Holdstock (SF)
Nick Tudor (NAP)

Scotland
Nick Stillwell (LCP)
Charles Buckingham (SF)

Wales
Jhon Richard (NAP)
Alex Beckett (SF)
Uisge Beatha (LCP)

All these races look to be close, and potential candidates still have time to step forward to attempt and make their claim.

  • Political Key

LCP= Liberal Conservative Party
NAP= National Alliance Party
SF= Sinn Fein
IND= Independent/ No Party Affiliation

Creation of the Privy Council
In a recent decision, Liz, Queen of UK, announced the creation of the first ever Privy Council. The council has been meeting to help Liz decide matters on things as complicated as Foreign Policy and things as simple as Liz’s official name. The announcement did cause some controversy when among the members announced for the council, two of the three judges were on it, and while the associate justice Silver Steps refused as she said she could not take the personal oath to Liz that was required of all council members, Constance, the Chief Justice of UK readily took the oath, causing concern among some citizens.

More Cabinet Changes

Several unmasked privy council members seeing here looking for advice

Prime Minister South Boston Irishmen announced another change to his Cabinet makeup. His Deputy Prime Minister Silver Steps was moved to the position of MI5 Director, while Alex Beckett was promoted to Minister of Defense. The Prime Minister brought in forum creator Via Vulpes as his new Deputy Prime Minister. Some citizens expressed the belief that this move was done after Silver Steps became outspoken against the Prime Minister about the closing of several embassies. To this point, Prime Minister SBI has denied said charges.

Uproar Over Embassy Closures

http://obscureinternet.com/wp-content/uploads/Idiot-Funny-Protest-Signs.jpg
Protests were seen across the region at the end of last week.

Prime Minister SBI caused a stir when he unexpectedly began shutting down several embassies at the end of last week. The first to go was that of NBE, followed quickly by Greater Wetlands. When asked, the Prime Minister stated that he thought these regions were more inactive then they should be and that he wanted to open up other embassies with regions that were more active. After several days of back and forth fighting between the PM and the Deputy Prime Minister, then Silver Steps, the Prime Minister eventually backed down, issuing an apology to the citizens and the region. So far the NBE embassy has not been reopened, although the Greater Wetlands embassy has been.

Thanks for the update!
