King George VII Abdicates

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/ba/King_George_V_1911_color-crop.jpg/214px-King_George_V_1911_color-crop.jpg
After serving 151 days in Buckingham Palace, King George announced on Sunday, 25 November 2012, his intentions to abdicate the throne immediately. After a period of mourning by HM Government, Judiciary, Parliament, and Citizenry, the region is now moving forward once again. His daughter, the now current Queen, stated:

“It’s always disheartening to see a Monarch abdicating, even worse when the situation isn’t the best, but we must stand together in unity, as we have so done in the past.”

King George now goes by Marshall G. Holdstock, will continue to remain in the region and serve as its World Assembly Delegate.[hr]

Queen Anne II Coronated

On 25 November 2012, almost immediately after King George announced his abdication, the Archbishop of Canterbury George William de Clare, began preparations for the Coronation of HM Queen Anne II, formerly known as HRH Corinne the Princess of Wales. Within the next two hours, the coronation service began in Westminster Abbey at 2:25 PM. Her Majesty was presented with the crown jewels, said the coronation oath, and was soon enthrowned before her loyal subjects. Queen Anne soon after addressed the people with her first speech and announcing her Prince of Wales, HRH Alexander W. G. Scott, who has has undoubted experience in the workings of our region’s monarchy, serving over ten months as Private Secretary to our Sovereign. God Save the Queen! Long may she reign![hr]

New Additions to the Supreme Court

http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/7392/28839432.jpg
After Chief Justice Jacob Stewart was removed for excessive inactivity, deliberations began for a suitable replacement. Upon much consideration, former King George and Prime Minister Edward Cavendish decided that the best candidate would be Mrs. Constance St.James, who formerly worked on the bench as the longest serving Justice in United Kingdom’s history. Her success in the courts is immense and will surely continue as it has before.

http://cast.thirdage.com/files/styles/article/public/originals/john-f-kennedy.jpg
With a position being vacant as Jr. Associate Justice, Prime Minister Edward Cavendish also chose Edwin Tiberius de Clare as a suitable candidate for the role. Edwin is a graduate of the University of United Kingdom with Magna cum laude honors, and has had previous judicial experience, serving as Attorney General. Justice de Clare has presided over several cases in his short time on the bench thus far and will continue to on into the future.[hr]

Nation Count on the Rise

http://www.co.all.biz/img/co/service_catalog/1812.jpeg
After a drop in the nation count from 145 to the low 130s, Home Secretary George de Clare, along with the Prime Minister and his cabinet, have led a massive recruitment effort. With much hard work and dedication, the region’s nation count has risen to 157. Recruitment will remain a central asset in the Cavendish Premiership, awarding those who do so both honorarily and financially.[hr]

By-Election for Northern England

http://www.keymc.me/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/230x230-Ballot-box.jpg
After the Honourable MP for Northern England had fallen inactive, the other members sought to seek his removal successfully. Her Majesty Queen Anne responded by issuing a writ of election to occur on the Second of December. Chief Justice Constance St.James opened registration on Tuesday, November 28th. Candidates will have until Sunday night at midnight to make their registrations. Fmr. Prime Minister Edwin de Clare’s Executive Order is still in place, barring any collection of fees to run. The region eagerly awaits as more and more candidates are applying.[hr]

Queen Anne II Abdicates

After serving thirty-eight days as our Kingdom’s Monarch, Queen Anne II announced her intention to abdicate the throne, on January 2nd 2013. This makes her reign the second shortest in United Kingdom history following only Alexander I’s twenty-seven day reign. Although her reign was short in time it was filled with accomplishment, and proved to be a productive period in United Kingdom’s history seeing the establishment of our first dominion. Queen Anne plans to remain active in the region, the people look forward to her continued companionship on the forums. The former Queen now goes by Charlotte, will continue serve the people as Secretary of State for the Home Office.[hr]

King Alexander II Coronated

On the second of January, Alexander A.G. Scott, the Prince of Wales was crowned in a coronation service in Westminster Abbey. In the service lead by His Reverenced Grace George de Clare, Archbishop of Canterbury, His Majesty was presented with the crown jewels, said the coronation oath, and was enthroned before his most loyal subjects. King Alexander later made an announcement naming his son Michael R.E. Scott as the Prince of Wales, and 3rd Duke of Northumberland. Edward Cavendish had his noble title elevated to the rank of Duke, Charlotte Stewart was named the Countess of Somerset, Marshall Holdstock was named named Baron Londonderry, and South Boston Irishman refused a title of nobility. His Majesty also married Lady Emilia V. FitzGeoffrey in a ceremony presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury. God Save the King! Long may He reign![hr]

"Recently we have seen the United Kingdom gain a Dominion in the form of the United Kingdom of Denmark. This is indeed a momentous occasion. For the first time in our long and proud history we have forged ourselves the grand start of a British Commonwealth, led by our glorious Monarch, King Alexander II. We, as citizens, have united in common purpose with our peers in Denmark in order to open a new chapter in what will be a joint history between our two peoples.

I have been very proud for playing a prominent part in ensuring this Dominion transition could be brought about, and I trust that the Motherland-Dominion relationship between UK and UKD can only increase in warmth and friendship.

This, however, is by no means the end. We have now created the British Commonwealth, and my Government will always seek to further increase His Majesty’s borders. We will always be open to welcoming more regions into our Commonwealth family, and I trust that in future, when the relationship between Denmark and United Kingdom has truly matured, we will see new and fresh Dominions entering the Commonwealth fold, for the glory and success of all."[hr]

New Era of Economics

After many months of waiting in hopes of AiO to return, United Kingdom’s then Chancellor of the Exchequer Edwin de Clare and then Deputy Chancellor Alex Beckett, decided to take this behemoth of a challenge into their own hands. The new system is simply called the Regional Banking System, in which the Governor of the Bank of England now leads. This system requires a lot of work with setting up individual banking accounts with their own pin numbers, but with the dedicated team currently under Chancellor Victor Cavendish, there is finally hope in a restored economy.

On top of the new system, HM Treasury has introduced a new institution that acts as an insurance to banks and businesses who qualify and apply called the Regional Reserve System created by Chancellor Victor Cavendish. The Treasury will also be introducing a bond system which will allow security to those who are weary of current economic times and allow their money to grow within the Kingdom…[hr]
Christmas Day General Election (Continued Gains for the BPU)

The British People’s Union (BPU) maintains its position as the majority party. The BPU under the leadership of Prime Minister Cavendish saw all of its candidates successfully elected or re-elected during the Christmas Day General Election. As it stands all current members of Parliament are either members of the BPU or have received the party’s endorsement (as was the case for the seat for Wales). Prime Minister Edward Cavendish was re-elected for his second full term easily defeating the Sinn Fein candidate (South Boston Irishman) with 72.41% of the overall vote. The BPU was formed by His Majesty King Alexander II and the Princess Royal; they have also been the majority party for the nineteenth through twenty-first sessions of parliament. With the return of their party founder (South Boston Irishman) Sinn Fein ran an organized although ultimately unsuccessful campaign. With his newly found super majority Prime Minister Cavendish continues to make positive changes and progress toward the BPU’s goal of insuring continued prosperity in United Kingdom.[hr]

The February Elections

This article was written prior to the British People’s Union re-styling themselves as the Conservative & Unionist Party

This election was a rather quiet one by United Kingdom standards. Why quiet? Well, most candidates only posted their campaign threads during the last week of the campaign period and some failed to even campaign at all! During the election campaign the British People’s Union(BPU) was hit by a bombshell which came in the form of it’s leader Edwin Tiberius de Clare resigning from the BPU and the United Kingdom as a whole. Similarly around the same time Henri Renaldi Grimaldi , the National Alliance Party(NAP) candidate for Northern Ireland similarly resigned from the party and from all positions in the United Kingdom. Both men left the United Kingdom shortly after their goodbyes.

This Election also saw the return of the National Alliance Party which dominated the political scene of the United Kingdom before Sinn Fein and the British People’s Union, it is now lead by Alex Bekett(Member of Parliament for Wales). Also in the news, Sinn Fein members voted to have them renamed themselves as the Labour Party in order to shake of their previous association as an 'Irish party", however despite the name change it’s policies will remain the same. Meanwhile members of the Libertarian Party rejected a proposal by their party leader to re-style themselves as the United Kingdom Independence Party(UKIP).

The Results

Marshall G Holdstock was elected with 92.9% of the vote casted for Prime Minister
At the end of polling day, citizens awoke to find out that Marshall G Holdstock(Labour) former Monarch and Speaker will be their next Prime Minister. He won 92.9% of the votes casted for Prime Minster’s race emerging victorious over the Libertarian Party’s Victor Cavendish. Marshall’s Labour party colleagues had cause to celebrate too, they emerge winners in three out of the five MP races. The NAP retains its hold on Wales and the BPU lost three out of the four seats they held before this election. Shortly afterwards HM Alexander II invited PM-elect Holdstock to form a government.

[hr]

Prime Minster Holdstock’s Message

[hr]

The Cabinet

In his first address from 10 Downing Street,Prime Minister Holdstock revealed his Cabinet to the public for the very first time. His new team includes seasoned veterans and fresh faces.Let us now read what PM Holdstock had to say about his cabinet.

Deputy Prime Minster: Klaus Mikaelson

His extensive experiences in the Executive Branch will prove to be a huge asset for us all.

Chancellor of the Exchequer:Alex Beckett

Alex has great knowledge of our economic system and is therefore vital to any economic plans

Home Secretary and Attorney General-George de Clare

George de Clare shall serve as both Home Secretary and Attorney General; two positions I believe him to be more than fit for.

Foreign Secretary-Chris Mikaelson

The Foreign Office shall be lead by Chris Mikaelson. Even though he is new to the position, I have full confidence in him.

Culture Secretary -HM Queen Victoria

Our British culture and traditions are of great importance to our region. Therefore, I have chosen our Queen-Consort, Her Majesty Victoria as our Culture Secretary.

Defense Secretary and Director of Military Intelligence-HRH Prince Michael

To lead our armed forces and MI5 I have appointed His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, Michael R.E. Scott. He has excelled in this position before, and I trust he will do so again.

[hr]
A Journey’s End

As we had mentioned above earlier, Edwin Tiberius de Clare and Henri Renaldi Grimaldi announced that they will leave the region. Edwin Tiberius de Clare returned to the region after a short absence, however there is no sign of Henri Renaldi Grimaldi return yet,so in his memory we present a short article on him.

Henri Renaldi Grimaldi

Henri Renaldi Grimaldi played various roles in the administrations of A.G Stuart, Edwin Edwin Tiberius de Clare and Edward Cavendish. He served in various positions in major political parties such as the Unionist party and BPU where he was it’s chairman. In the middle of November he resigned from the BPU and joined Sinn Fein only to leave a short time later to stand under the NAP ticket in the February General Election before pulling out and leaving the region. He will be missed dearly.

United Kingdom of Denmark declares UDI

On 23 February 2013,t he founder of the UKD Michael announced that the UKD will cease being a dominion under the United Kingdom and declared the UKD an independent state. He then proceeded to dismantle symbols of the dominionship (abolishment of the Governor-General position, restoration of the Danish royal family). When asked why he did so he simply stated that he wanted to end the tension between the natives and the UK citizens who reside in the UKD. His announcement was greeted with wide spread anger on the UK side as many did not expect the move on the UKD founder’s part .Furthermore the proper procedure of separation(written in the Dominionship of Denmark Act) was never followed. His announcement came a few days before polling day which ignited a blame game between members of the government and opposition. Currently citizens and government officials of the United Kingdom are working together to deal with the fallout that this messy separation left behind.

[hr]

The Response

On the 5 March 2013, the official response from the United Kingdom in regards to United Kingdom of Denmark illegal secession was made known to the public in the United Kingdom. In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace with the consent from 10 Downing Street, His Majesty Alexander II announced that the United Kingdom will recognize the independence of the United Kingdom of Denmark and will not attempt any action to reclaim the UKD. In addition, the territories of The Kingdom of Northern Ireland, the Tsardom of Russia, and the Grand Duchy of Finland are to remain possessions of the British Crown after being seceded to the United Kingdom by the UK in the Dominion of Denmark Act (2012).

Recognition of Independence

[hr]
A New Prince of Wales

HRH Prince Edward
On the 2th of March, His Majesty Alexander II announced that Edward Cavendish his son and former Prime Minister will be the new Prince of Wales. He takes over the position from Prince Michael who wished to concentrate on his activities in government. His Majesty elaborated that Prince Edward could not take on the role (after his sudden ascension to the crown after the abdication of Anne II) as he was holding the office of Prime Minister. In his response Prince Edward thanked his brother Prince Michael for his service to the region and HM Alexander for the opportunity to serve his region once more.

King Alexander II Celebrates Birthday

http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/2833/alexanderiinoframe.png

His Majesty The King

King Alexander II celebrated his Birthday this week, and gave a speech last Sunday.

— Begin quote from ____

Several tragedies has this region faced and overcome. On the fourth day of November, in the year of two-thousand and ten, the region was attacked by two of those it was meant to trust, and the forum was utterly destroyed–This, the region overcome. In 2011 the region faced numerous spamming attacks–this, the region overcome. Throughout 2012 the region was besieged by a duo of criminals who still try and gain access to our board today–This, the region overcame. This is a region of fighters. This is a region that will not bow down to oppression. This is a region that will exercise the law righteously, and bring down the hammer of justice swiftly on those who seek to harm it’s people. I have no doubt that we, the people of this region, will not waver in our defence of this realm, and all those who seek to harm us, will be cast back into the shadows from which they came.

On the week of my birthday and today preceding, I will endeavour to remember all the strife this region has faced, and overcome, with brave hearts and intelligent minds.

— End quote

His Majesty then announced the Birthday Honours List, with a number of citizens being recognised for going above and beyond the call of duty to aid United Kingdom and its citizens. He finished the speech with a poignant and inspirational message:

— Begin quote from ____

Now, I leave you today with a final message, stay strong and united. This region has never been driven into the ground and we have never given up hope on each other, and on the steadfast resilience of our community. When the time inevitably comes in the future when I myself must abdicate/leave the region, I will do so with the knowledge that this region will continue on beyond me for years to come.

— End quote

A celebratory ball takes place today.

Cabinet Changes Galore

An example of how well attended Cabinet meetings are

It has been a term for cabinet changes, it seems. After Alex Beckett, Chancellor of the Exchequer, disappeared without an official Leave of Absence, he was replaced by recently-returned, previous Chancellor, Edwin Tiberius de Clare. UK went another two weeks before the resignation of George de Clare as Home Secretary, after a long period of decline in nation count. He was replaced by William Cavendish. It was then only another week before Chris Mikaelson, Foreign Secretary, resigned, following a period of little diplomatic activity. Deputy Prime Minister James Mikaelson, acting on behalf of the PM, who is on a Leave of Absence, appointed Edwin Tiberius de Clare to the position.

Still, even with these appointments, there is a noted absence of officials in Cabinet Meetings, with a great deal of the cabinet apparently not turning up. Activity problems like this will need to be addressed next election.

[hr]

By- Election Comes Around

After, Alex Beckett, MP for Wales, disappeared, as mentioned above, Parliament voted in the affirmative to remove him. A by-election was announced soon after. There were two candidates: Cameron M. Richthofen-Saxony, an Independent, and Michael R. E. Stewart, of the Conservatives. After a short campaign and voting, it was announced that Michael R. E. Stewart had been elected, albeit by a thin margin of 7 votes to 6.

[hr]

Changes in the Courts

New Senior Associate Justice, Charles Telsontair

Parliament finally took action recently to re-energise the courts, after Via Vulpes, the previous Senior Associate Justice, was deemed to not be coming back, following a long 3 month period of absence. Charles Telsontair, previous Junior Associate Justice, was elevated to the Senior role.

Recently, Parliament have begun discussions over who should replace Telsontair as Junior Associate Justice, and the PM and King are expected to announce their nomination shortly. Leading the expected candidates are Edwin Tiberius de Clare (previous AJ and long-time Lawyer), George de Clare (Attorney General), and James Mikaelson (Former PM).

[hr]
Recent Court Trials

The court has been unusually active recently, with two court trials in one week. First up was HM Government v. Henri Grimaldi. Mr. Grimaldi was accused of intentionally lying on his citizenship application about positions he holds, thus committing the offence of Perjury, which in some cases can warrant a two week forum ban. Mr. Grimaldi was defended by Edwin Tiberius de Clare J.D, on the grounds that Mr. Grimaldi did not intend to deceive the government, and in fact just made a simple mistake. Mr. Grimaldi was eventually cleared of all charges in a judgement by Constance St. James and Charles Telsontair.

The second is HM Government v. Edward de Trafford. Mr. de Trafford has been accused of Treason and Slander, after copying the code of United Kingdom’s theme and using it on his own forum. He also kept the names of this forum’s Government on the Header, so it looked as though citizens from this region were in positions in his own. Mr. de Trafford is defended by Edwin Tiberius de Clare J.D, on the grounds that, although Mr. de Trafford committed the act in question, it did not amount to Treason or Slander. A judgement is expected soon.

[hr]
Elections Upcoming

The Prime Ministerial Candidates - Henri Grimaldi, of the Liberal Democrats. William Cavendish, of the Conservative and Unionist Party. James Mikaelson, of the Labour Party

It’s that time again. Elections are just around the corner. This month we have three candidates for Prime Minister. Henri Grimaldi, of the Liberal Democrats. William Cavendish, of the Conservative and Unionist Party. James Mikaelson, of the Labour Party. Mr. Grimaldi has previously been Minister of Culture and Minister of Defence, as well as an MP. Mr. Cavendish has previously been an MP and Lord, and has held various ministerial positions, including Home Secretary. Mr. Mikaelson is the longest serving (non-concurrent) Prime Minister in UK’s history, and currently holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister. Marshall G. Holdstock, current Prime Minister, has announced he will not be standing for re-election.

For Parliament, so far:

MP for Northern England

  • Victoria E. Stewart (Con)
  • James Mikaelson (Lab)

MP for Southern England

  • Edwin Tiberius de Clare (Con)

MP for Wales

  • Michael R.E. Stewart (Con)
  • Richard Alexander (Lab)

MP for Northern Ireland

  • St. John Montclaire (BSP)
  • George de Clare (Con)

MP for Scotland

  • Henri Grimaldi (LD)
  • Charles Sinclair (Con)

With just under two weeks until registrations close and election, what is already certain is that it should be interesting.

The April 2013 General Election

After a long hard campaign, a prime ministerial debate, and dozens of speeches, the April General Election is finally over. It was a long haul, but the people have spoken and these are the lucky few who emerged in victory.

Prime Minister: William Cavendish (Con) narrowly won the election with 55.6% of the vote. Mr. James Mikaelson, a former Prime Minister, proved to be a worthy opponent racking up the remaining 44.6% of the vote. The following day, Mr. Cavendish began work by organizing his experienced cabinet members.

Northern England: Her Majesty Queen Victoria, the Queen-Consort, (Con) won with 61.5% of the electorate. She promised that though she is a member of the Royal Family, she will not let that influence her decisions in the chamber.

Southern England: Former Chancellor of the Exchequer Edwin Tiberius de Clare (Con) won with 53.8% margins. While the Exchequer is gone, he is prepared to get Parliament back to work.

Wales: Prince Michael R. E. Stewart (Con) emerged with 63% of the votes cast. The Director of Military Intelligence, and long-time Minister of Defence, should bring an era of enlightenment to Parliament.

Northern Ireland: Mr. Henry James Tudor (Con) attained 61.5% of the votes in his race. He was nominated by the Conservative and Unionist Party to replace the now Associate Justice, George de Clare, who has represented this constituency for five terms.

Scotland: After a close race between three candidates, Henry Grimaldi (LD), Charles Sinclair (Con), and a last minute entry Mr. Nigel Farage (I), Mr. Farage won the seat with 63% of the vote. Mr. Farage was the only Independent to win a seat in Parliament this term.

The Conservative and Unionist Party captured both the Government and Parliament, now we will watch and see what they do in the upcoming two months.

State Opening of Parliament

http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/7905/parliamentopen.jpg
His Majesty’s carriage travels down the Mall towards the Palace of Westminster.

Following the conclusion of elections, His Majesty ( Alexander II ) opened parliament for the 23rd time. In his address to parliament he outlined his wish for an active premiership and set out his vision for the coming term. In the highly praised speech he laid out a detailed agenda, agreed with the Prime Minister beforehand, dealing with all major areas of government such as Culture, Foreign Affairs and Recruitment.

Wishing to co-operate closely with the new Prime Minister, His Majesty explained that the United Kingdom had experienced a slight but noticeable “downturn in activity”, which with summer drawing near threatened the function of government. Speaking on the subject of Home Affairs, Alexander II recommended that the new Prime Minister, William Cavendish, pour every effort into recruiting. He warned that, despite the obvious benefits of having an automatic recruiting tool, the region should not become complacent and take for granted a rising nation count.

On the matter of Foreign Affairs, the King spoke of expanding the region’s profile “overseas”, explaining that this would make it easier to both recruit and retain citizens as well as safeguarding the UK in the event that the region is attacked in the future. This vision, outlined by the Monarch, is very much along the lines of that outlined by Mr Cavendish in his election campaign.

After speaking at length on other matters of government, King Alexander announced that newcomer Charles Sinclair ( Conservative ) would sit in parliament as one of the two Peers in the palace of Westminster. Lord Sinclair, the Lord Lucan, joins the Countess of Somerset ( Charlotte Stewart a former Monarch ) who was appointed a Peer near the end of the 22nd session and will carry on as a Lord of Parliament.

Having concluded his speech, His Majesty returned to the palace leaving parliament to get to work, starting with the business of electing a speaker. After some deliberation this was decided to be the Honourable Member for Scotland and only non-Conservative MP, Nigel Farage a former Prime Minister and current Culture Secretary.

Hitting the ground running, Parliament has immediately begun by debating whether to repeal the Regional Bank System Act (2013), part of the wider task of winding up the region’s economy.

Prime Minister Announces Cabinet

http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/791/51957439595x400.jpg

Within a few hours of being elected Prime Minister, Sir William Cavendish announced his cabinet for the forthcoming term. Promising a mix of both old and new members, a cabinet of stability, he revealed his nine man team:-

Prime Minister: William Cavendish

*Deputy Prime Minister: Edwin T. de Clare

*Home Secretary: George de Clare
**Minister of Recruitment: Cameron M. Romefeller
*Foreign Secretary: Brum Brum
*Defence Secretary: Prince Michael R.E Stewart
*Culture Secretary: Nigel Farage
**Minister of Sport: Charles A.S Stewart
*Attorney General: Edwin T. de Clare
*Director of Military Intelligence: Prince Michael R.E Stewart

The new Prime Minister also announced his intention to conduct cabinet meetings in private, in the spirit of cabinet solidarity as it was felt that public cabinet meetings failed to encourage any proper scrutiny of government policy. Recognising the important nature of the coming term, Sir William invited His Majesty, Alexander II, to attend cabinet meetings: a nod to his previous experience as both a Prime Minister and veteran legislator.

With his chosen ministers officially announced, the new Premier immediately set about the task of governing the region. Repealing the economy, via Executive Order, and announcing a new regional census. It remains to be seen when Cavendish will introduce some of his more ambitious policy objectives but it is likely to be in the first half of the two month premiership.

Removals from Office

http://www.ukipmeps.org/uploads/image/farage-23-10-2012-275.jpg

Former Speaker Nigel Farage

Parliament used their constitutional authority to remove two high-ranking officials from office in roughly the first half of the term. Associate Justice to the UK Supreme Court, Charles Telsontair was the first be voted out, but was quickly followed by Nigel Farage was removed as both the MP to represent Scotland and Speaker of Parliament. Both were removed for inactivity.

The Telsontair removal was the most contentious. Despite not missing a case from the bench, a hearing was called to discuss his general activity level. The Justice appeared before Parliament for the hearing and gave them assurances that he was active enough to do his job as a court justice. His answers did not give Parliament the confidence they were looking for, and the legislative body promptly voted to remove him from the high court. Only the MP from Northern Ireland, Jacob M. Stewart voted against his removal.

The Speaker of that very body, Nigel Farage, was the next to feel the wrath of Parliament. With no leave of absence given to Parliament or the region, Farage’s absence lingered for over a week. A motion and vote followed, removing the Speaker who represented Scotland.

The Independent Alliance Sweep Mid-Term By-Elections

http://images.politico.com/global/2013/02/14/130214_rand_paul_hand_605_ap.jpg

Speaker Stewart

Two by-elections were held in the region due to removal of Parliamentary members. Two members of the Independent Alliance party won both elections, cementing the alliance as a political force in the region. The Labour Party has failed to grasp any momentum while the Conservative Union Party failed to run anyone in the second by-election race. The IA has grown in numbers, but more importantly, appear to be the most organized of the active political parties in the region.

Jacob Stewart won the by-election fro Northern Ireland after it became vacant and was promptly elected Speaker after Nigel Farage was removed from office and the Speakership. The IA held on to the seat by Bill Dearheart winning the bye-election race with a massive majority of the vote.

A Message from the Anglican Church

The Church of England has had its fair share of activity lately. His Majesty King Alexander, Supreme Head of the Anglican Communion, and His Reverend Grace George de Clare, Archbishop of Canterbury, have worked together effortlessly to get the church on its feet and rolling again. The major story includes adding two positions to the clergy: King-Bishop of Durham and Vicar of Islington. His majesty, current patron, was ordained as King-Bishop and Henri Grimaldi, a former Bishop of London, was consecrated as the new Vicar. These two bright minds will do their best to serve Christ and our community.

The Church of England is always looking to expand its territory. If you would like to have a diocese opened in your region, let your ambassador know and we will send a cleric overseas to your territory. The word of Christ has no limits and is open to all.[hr]

New Bills Allow for Private Universities and Law School Accreditation

United Kingdom took a boost to activity this month, with the introduction and debate of a bill to enable private universities to teach accreditedlLaw programs. Until now, the law degree in United Kingdom has been a well-guarded ara in the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction, and until recently, effectively stifled competition from private universities.

Jacob M. Stewart, MP for Northern Ireland and Deputy Attorney General, sought to resolve this. He submitted a bill to Parliament to enable private universities to teach law programs and have their graduates able to practice law. This encountered immediate opposition from the Court. The current Chief Justice and Senior Associate Justice, and Fmr Junior Associate Justice, Edwin de Clare, all expressed strong oppositions to the bill, citing unease with the ability of a private university to teach law to the quality of UUK. It became apparent, however, that there was large support for some sort of accreditation program for private universities. The Chief Justice and those who sided with her soon began to fight for court to oversee the accreditation process which also had broad support from the region’s citizens. A compromise was reached between Chief Justice St. James and the MP from Norther Ireland who authored the original bill.

Thus, the bill was passed and the University of Oxford quickly opened the same day.

UK Climbs over 200 Nations

United Kingdom asserted itself as one of the premier British themed regions, and arguably the most influential Defender British region, in NationStates by climbing over the 200 nation plateau. The goal of 200 nations was the mark of note for quite some time, but the new mark is 250 nations. Despite the number of nations in the region, concerns have been raised about attracting those members to the board to become active citizens on the forums. Despite those concerns, many congratulations have been awarded to the recruiters of the region.

First Regional Holiday Approved by Parliament

Parliament passed and approved an act proposed by MP Jacob M. Stewart of Northern Ireland to recognize a regional holiday. The holiday, which will be called “Commemoration Day,” will be recognized annually on November 4 of every year. According to the bill, the holiday is to commemorate the former citizens of the region who have impacted it in great and positive ways while remembering the terrorist attack that struck the regional boards on November 4, 2010.
