State Funeral of King Alexander II
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the http://s4.zetaboards.com/United_Kingdom_NS/index/ cordially invites the region of The East Pacific to the State funeral of
King Alexander the Second of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,
and of the British territories and dominions beyond the sea, Tsar of Russia, Emperor of India
It is asked that any citizens of an invited region choosing to attend this service shows a level of respect for the family
of the late King Alexander the Second, who are currently in the mourning process. In order to attend the State Funeral, it will
be a requirement for an individual to attain Foreign Ambassador or Citizen masking to view the relevant section of the forum.
In order to spare this trouble, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office recommends that a representative(s) is sent on the behalf
of the region, as opposed to a multitude citizens of the region; however anyone is free to attend if they wish to pay their respects.
The State Funeral will be held on the Second day of July in the Two-thousand and Thirteenth year Anno Domini.
The State Funeral will have a signing-in thread, in which anyone wishing to attend the service can express that they are doing so;
the service proper will take place later in the day. After the State Funeral service, there will be the reading of private eulogies, and an
area for public eulogies to be made by friends, family, and members of the population of the United Kingdom, both domestically resident
and a visiting Foreign national. This will be followed by the regional wake.
The State Funeral will be carried out under the Virtual Anglican Church of England by the Archbishop of Canterbury; and will be visible,
along with other threads, on St. James Street, The Anglican Church of England, St. Paul’s Cathedral. Following the service there will also be a blessing by the Pope of the Virtual Roman Catholic Church on NationStates.

About 45 minutes ago, this region fell under a pornspam attack by a member of our region named Mathew Grant. This reminds me of the horrific acts of that which happened on 11/4 a few years ago. Thankfully only six pornographic images were posted, it could have been much worse. Thankfully I logged in time to stop him before it was made any worse. King Alexander II to Leave NS

Last week, Alexander II, former King of UK, announced his departure from the region and from NationStates. Alexander made a speech to the people of UK thanking them for their friendship and loyalty while citing his entry into the Armed Forces as his main reason for departing. King Alexander has long been a pillar of the UK community, working his way up through the ranks before joining the Royal Family. King Alexander will be remembered by the people of United Kingdom as one of the greatest Monarchs in the region’s history. Following the funeral of Alexander, the coronation of Prince Edward promptly occurred. As the monarchy always will, it continued once more to another illustrious member of our region. His Royal Highness is among the most qualified for the role and will ensure a safe transition. Prince Edward’s first Prime Minister is George de Clare, who eagerly awaits to work with his new and glorified King. The coronation will took place in Westminster Abbey under the directory of Archbishop George de Clare.

Prime Minister Steps Down from Bench

Newly elected Prime Minister, George de Clare, recently announced that he will be stepping down from his position of Senior Associate Justice of the UK court. Mr. de Clare ran with the clear intention of staying on the bench if also elected to 10 Downing Street. Although no law in the region prohibited the move, several members of the region cited separation of powers as a reasoning against such action. After handily winning the election for Prime Minister, Mr. de Clare stated that he would indeed remain on the bench throughout his term as Prime Minister, but several days later, after stiff opposition, changed his mind and resigned from the bench. Mr. de Clare leaves behind a legacy of fairness, aptitude and swift action from his time on the bench, traits that many in UK hope that he will bring to 10 Downing Street.

Citizens Continue to Support a Divided Parliament
In the recent general election held in United Kingdom, the citizenry took to the polls and once again elected a divided Parliament. For the past several terms, no one party has been able to grasp a tight control over the majority of Parliament, and while some parties have achieved so through bi-election mid term, this 24th Session of Parliament is to start off at a dead heat. With the 5 elected seats of Parliament, the Conservative Party held one, while the Independent Alliance won three and the Labour Party ran unopposed for one victory. King Alexander II then named two Conservative Party members to the appointed Lords position, and the deadlock was held. The citizens of UK now face a bi-election for the seat of Northern Ireland from which Jacob Stewart recently resigned in order to take a position on the bench. So far, one member of the Independent Alliance and one member from the Labour Party have expressed interest in running.

Constance St.James is the longest serving Justice in United Kingdom’s history, and has served since 16 November 2012 in her current tenure. She is currently Dean emeritus at the University of United Kingdom, and though she will continue to serve as a Magistrate Judge after her resignation, she is letting someone else hold the esteemed title of Chief Justice.
Cabinet Changes
The George Astor premiership has seen fewer cabinet changes than the premierships of many of his predecessors. However, two changes have occurred in the past week. After the resignations of Edwin Astor as Deputy Prime Minister and Klaus Mikaelson as Foreign Secretary, the Prime Minister immediately went in search of replacements. After reviewing several applications for each position, he decided on Bill Dearheart, a long time member of the region who has served many terms in Parliament as Deputy Prime Minister, and decided on Vaculatestar Telsontair, an NGE diplomat and fairly new member of the region, as Foreign Secretary.

Reunification Explanation?
For the past week, His Reverend Grace The Archbishop of Canterbury has been considering a Catholic offer of re-unification. Such a merger of the two Christian churches would be a significant, historical change to Christianity, since Britain has not been in union with the Papacy since the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in 1558.
The offer to merge was made last week by VRCC Prelature Pope Luke. However, the idea has not received a warm welcome from Anglicans. King Edward IX supported neither the Anglican nor the Catholic arguments. Instead, he opened a conference to have both churches discuss ways that they could unite, or at least become closer. At the conference, both sides have been presenting various theological views to help settle the disagreements between them. We are eagerly waiting to see what happens.

A by-election for the Northern Ireland seat went through several tie-breakers, and ultimately came to Parliament for a final decision; with votes cast 3-2 in favor of Edwin de Clare, Speaker Klaus Mikaelson surprised everyone by voting for Andrew Callaway twice: once as MP, and again as Speaker to break the tie he created. When the issue of double voting was taken to Court as a legal question, the Justices ruled in favor of Speaker Mikaelson. Now, a week later, there is still unease about the vote. Several people have presented proposals to end the Speaker’s double-voting power.
The Election Reform Act Amendment VII was recently passed in response to the case de Clare v. HM Government, in which the Justices overturned part of Section (15) of the Elections Reform Act, ruling that it infringed on the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution. In a rather unusual ruling, Judge Silver Steps and Justice Jacob M. Stewart agreed to overturn part of Section (15) for completely different reasons; Chief Justice St. James concurred with most of the majority opinion written by Judge Steps, though she did not agree with the verdict.
In other Parliamentary news, the Citizenship Reform Act, written by Silver Steps and Constance St.James, was brought to the floor and swiftly passed. Criminal Code Act Amendment VIII was also passed, and Parliament is now considering entering UK into the C.O.P.S treaty.
