It's a Bird, it's a Plane, no, it's an Urth Hero!

Greetings Glorious Heroes and Dastardly Villains!

While the Greek Gods of Olympus is wrapping up, I wanted to notify you about the next interactive RP. This one (AU) will be about Urth’s mightiest heroes, and most evil villains.

You will create a superhero, or supervillain, or both, and you will tell the story of their heroic/evil deeds, as if it was a comic book (or graphic novel, if you want to get even more complex). Have a cool backstory, a nemesis, the whole shebang. You can RP interactions between fellow heroes or villains too. How the storyline will work is that (this is very general right now, and this is not always how it has to be) the villains will develop some plot to do something on Urth, and the heroes have to put a stop to it. There will be an algorithm that basically turns the aspects of each side into quantifiable numbers (creativity of the evil plan, who the heroes bring along to stop them, how many henchpeople the villains have, etc) and runs a simulation to decide the side that wins. The heroes or other villains can also infiltrate a villain’s evil lair, so there is an attack and defend element. Leagues will be formed, broken, cities may be destroyed, heck, the world may even blow up (We will have some weird time travel-other dimension mumbo jumbo to explain it all away). It’ll be fun!

Now, onto the part I think is the coolest part of all, creating your hero! We will give you as much freedom as possible to create a hero, but just to make sure there are not a bajillion Galactus’ or Spectres’ running around, we will be putting a limit to how powerful your hero or villain can be. You will use this site to craft your character’s powers (List of Superpowers and Abilities), but the rule is you are capped at 14.5 points. That will put you on the same strength level as Professor X or The Flash, so you still are very strong. Here is an example of what a superhero power list will look like:

+5.0 Atmokinesis+2.0 Cold Resistance+2.0 Heat Resistance+0.5 Flight+0.5 Electrokinesis+0.5 Accuracy+0.5 Agility+0.5 Bullet Time+0.5 Durability+0.5 Endurance/Stamina+0.5 Enhanced Senses+0.5 Reflexes+0.5 Self-Sustenance+0.5 Telepathy Resistance 14.5 Total Points

Once you craft your character, we will establish their powergrid (also on that site) so you have a base to compare your character to others.

Next thing, while the above will be required (and fun!) this next one is optional. Dragonia has told me about this great site called “Hero Machine” that will help you create a picture of your character! http://www.heromachine.com/heromachine-3-lab/

You can use this thread here to post ideas, character creations, backstories if you would like, and whatever else suits you!

Here is a list of our characters so far, and their respective powergrids:

[spoiler]
The powergrid represents a numerical quantity to the six attributes that play into each character. Generally speaking, the higher the number, the stronger the hero or villain is in that category. This is important on the back end of things, because it will determine how effective your character is at an action they take. At the most basic level, if a character’s number in a category is higher than another character’s, that character would be more likely to “win” the interaction. However, these can be augmented or reduced based on other RP elements (like finding magical items, or gaining a new weapon, or being poisoned). There will be a random chance element incorporated into this, so having a low or high powergrid is not always an indication of success. In fact, the RP element will be much more important, so make sure to RP well!

Here’s an example: your character wants to lift a heavy object off of a person. His strength powergrid is 21. This number (among other RP elements, like augmented tech, assistance etc.) will be checked against the weight of the object, a random number is generated, and if the final outcome is higher than the weight amount, then the character succeeds. If it is not higher, he still has a chance to succeed, but there may be some consequences (the trapped individual loses a leg), or he may outright fail. [/spoiler]

[spoiler]
Intelligence- Refers to your character’s overall knowledge, resourcefulness, “street smart,” dedication, and insanity. Higher numbers indicate a higher chance to succeed at complex plots or complex RPs.
Strength- Refers to your character’s physical strength. Higher numbers indicate a higher chance to to lift large objects and strike with force enough to incapacitate or kill.
Speed- Refers to your character’s movement speed. This is important in cases of both combat and events that have a time element to them. Higher numbers indicate a higher chance that the character will dodge physical attacks, move from point A to point B in a certain amount of time, and avoid obstacles
Durability- Refers to your character’s ability to take a beating. This includes both physical and mental. Higher numbers indicate a higher chance to stay alive or awake after being struck or falling, or having other sorts of psychological stresses impacted on you.
Power- This is a tough one to describe, but it refers to your character’s meta-talents. Higher numbers indicate more success at using your powers, especially if you are using your powers in diverse and creative ways.
Combat- Refers to your character’s ability in combat. This includes physical and mental attacks. Higher numbers indicate a higher chance to hit the opponent effectively, and the success at which the character can use weapons they are unfamiliar with.

History: Residing in another dimension that exists outside of time, Demons inhabit a world and on occasion are called onto Urth through a rift between the dimensions, usually to fulfill a purpose. Gabriel Cherub was a member of the Legion of Abaddon, a cadre of Demons charged with destruction. One day, these Demons were destroying a town in Ancient Egypt, when Cherub discovered a rift inside of a temple. Suddenly, he was sucked through it, and landed in a remote area in present day Urth. Though confused, he was quick to ascertain that he traveled forward in time, to a place that would annihilate him if they discovered him. He found a hiding place, and as he had brought a bag for the Legion campaign, he had with him armor and coverings to hide his body. He still stuck out, but people would probably think he was a cos-player, versus god knows what. Also included was a staff. See, Gabriel can manipulate energy, and channel it through his staff. He can extend the energy to function as a projectile he hits with his staff, he can connect energy with his staff to extend its range, like a whip, or surround the staff to offer more protection, and he can hit his staff against the ground to shoot out tendrils of energy, encasing or bashing opponents from the ground.

His role in the Legion of Abaddon was to destroy buildings. Therefore, he can climb walls (to get to the top of them), jump great distances, is resistant to fire (which inevitably start due to the destruction), and is durable enough to survive rubble and explosions. He also speaks many languages, as the Legion goes through rifts in time, appearing anywhere on Urth. Being a Demon, he possesses enhanced senses, dexterity, and agility. Also being a Demon, he has naturally harder skin than humans, and being exposed around the magic of the rifts, is resistant to some of magic’s effects. Finally, all Demons must constantly train with weapons, so as to defeat enemy forces, which makes Gabriel Cherub quite powerful with the staff.

Now, you may be wondering, “the Legion sounds awful, wouldn’t Cherub be a villain?” When Cherub was transported through the rift, he believed as much however, something was telling him, no. It was if he had a calling, a calling to do good deeds. So, knowing the Abrahamic tradition and power of semantics, he christened himself Gabriel Cherub and got to work, saving people from burning buildings instead of destroying them. Knowing how hideous to humans he looked, he painted his armor brighter colors, so as to not scare the kids. Even with the brightness and good deeds though, Cherub was always tempted to revert back to his destructive nature. Something stopped him, which he attributed to his new calling. Little did he know, that someone else came through the rift, someone who wanted nothing more than to watch the world burn…

History: Residing in another dimension that exists outside of time, Demons inhabit a world and on occasion are called onto Urth through a rift between the dimensions, usually to fulfill a purpose. Lamia was a member of the Legion of Abaddon, a cadre of Demons charged with destruction. She is a primal individual, much more aggressive than most of the other members of the Legion. This served the Legion’s purposes at times, but other times she would make the mission go awry (destroying an entire town instead of just one building). The destruction of the Tower of Babylon was all her fault, and she is currently being punished by Abaddon himself for it. Like Gabriel Cherub, she was sucked through a rift onto Urth, and though she and Gabriel were sucked in at the same time, she landed there a few months after Gabriel did. Unlike Gabriel, Lamia did not adopt the same mantra as he, and instead seeks to demolish the world, in the belief that this is the reason she was called through the rift, as part of her punishment from Abaddon.

Lamia has similar training as Gabriel Cherub, she can climb up walls, is athletic, and well-trained in weapons. Possessing super strength, and primal-induced longevity, she is capable of lifting heavy objects and destroying most structures. She can use her wings to glide through the air, and they function as strong bashing and shielding apparatuses. Her powers reside in the ability to make her body weigh more than usual, and coupled with her natural durability, allow her attacks to hit with much more force. She can also extend her energy out a little bit in front of her, giving her a little bit of range to her attacks, and stopping some attacks from hitting her.

Lamia has yet to discover Gabriel Cherub, but both demons are attuned to their brethren, so it will only be a matter of time before the two of them confront each other on Urth…

However, as opposed to execution, Chernov was instead reassigned to a ‘corrective facility’ by General Secretary and Premier Mikhail Starikov. While there, Starikov had him experimented on by Stratarin’s top scientists, giving him dramatic powers over light, but mainly darkness. Although, there was one mistake made involving Chernov: though the scientists had used programming to keep him docile, he had a stronger will than they gave him credit for…

Celaeno creating a force field bubble.
Alias: Celaeno

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Country of Origin: Fortuna

Personality: Psychotic, unstable, quiet most of the time

Endurance - 0.5
Energy Beams - 0.5
Energy Blasts - 0.5
Levitation - 0.5
Insanity - 0.5
Illumination - 0.5

Total - 14.5

Background:
At a young age, Celaeno, her real name forgotten to time, and her six sisters were taken from their home to be used in Fortuna’s Pleiade Project, an effort to weaponize human beings to strengthen the nation. However, four of Celaeno’s sisters died during the process, with only her and her two last sisters surviving, but they too soon died as their bodies could not survive for a long period of time, leaving Celaeno as the last living successful project. She went under years of testing and procedures to increase her powers, slowly driving her insane. Once she reached her breaking point, she escaped from her captors and fled across the Pacific Ocean to Gondwana. There she wanders the continent alone, feeding off the energy of the residents of small villages she wanders onto, slowly building back her strength but leaving a trail of bodies behind her.

Explanation:
Celaeno is an energy user, with many of her abilities requiring her to use an amount of energy to work. However, she does not have an unlimited supply of energy, requiring her to hunt for more to survive. Her preferred method is absorbing the energy of people, which for the average human is fatal. For her energy absorption to work, she is required to be able to touch her victim. This is not the only way she is able to use her absorption ability as it can be used to absorb energy attacks, giving her more power to use her own abilities. Her greatest defense is her invisibility which she mainly uses when hunting humans for power. If her invisibility becomes useless, she turns to using her force field which creates a bubble of energy around her to protect herself. For offense she is capable of firing energy beams and blasts at her opponent. Her main goal in a fight is to incapacitate or kill her opponent by getting close enough to use her energy absorption, or she will flee using any means necessary if she feels she has no chance of winning the fight. For quick movement, she is able to levitate, but this requires a lot of energy so she will only use it as a last resort. Due to the testing she went through during the Pleiade Project, Celaeno went insane and requires energy for her to think more clearly. However, she is quick to temper at times and will go full out in a fight without paying much attention to the amount of energy she has left.

Virgil and Amari are both incarnations of the mysterious force The Mastery, known only partially to scattered occultists and tribes- believed to once worship incarnations and iterations of the force. The truths known are that The Mastery is a dualistic, self-destructive, and reiterative force. The Mastery intervenes in mortal affairs in order to produce individuals of great power, often guiding a mating pair from long distances to create the individual it desires. The Mastery uses Faculties for the whole of their lives, moving on only when a suitable Faculty has been created- potentially artificially prolonging (or shortening) a Faculty’s life to allow for the new creation.

The Mastery ultimately seeks to balance itself, attempting to possess the perfect opposite or counterbalance of itself by choosing two mortals at a time, known as The Faculties. This act of balance is theorized to inform the choices of the individual Faculty, seemingly positioning each to possibly act against the interests of the other.

There have been instances of the Faculties violently destroying each other, tearing down mighty empires of the past; and other instances of the Faculties working in tandem against a greater imbalance, partners balancing forces against The Mastery.

Background: Dominika Iskrana has served communist Stratarin ever since she came of age, rising through the ranks of the secretive and deadly STP. Currently, she is both the youngest Brigadier in the STP and the only female to reach such distinction. Some would say that she assumed the rank due to her mental prowess, while others suggest simply skill. All the same, she is known for leaving few survivors. The few enemies of the Militarized Communist State that know of her existence simply refer to her as ‘Kryptiana,’ the ancient Strataric goddess and overlord of the dishonorable afterlife.

Name: Thomas Croft

Alias: Atom-X

Age: 27

Classification: Neutral

Race: Human

Origin: Axdel

Weapon of choice: Advanced firearms, javelins of silica, carbon, or other hard material

Superpowers:

Molecular Manipulation - 7.5
Molecular Dissipation - 1.5
Molecular Combustion - 1.5
Telekinesis - 1
Electrokinesis - 0.5
Radiation Control - 0.5
Radiation Absorption - 0.5
Intelligence - 0.5
Reflexes - 0.5
Flight - 0.5

History:

Thomas Croft, known as Atom-X, has ultimate control of matter. His mother was involved with the Norogradian Azrael project during her youth, gaining reality warping powers from the experiments. She ultimately escaped, living a peaceful life in a remote village far south. Five years after the birth of Thomas and his fraternal twin brother, she died suddenly of heart failure, likely due to the experiments performed upon her. It was not long before Thomas began demonstrating amazing powers, gaining himself the attention of the newly formed Meta research division of Axdel. Thomas and several other meta children displaying a wide spectrum of abilities were constantly developed and experimented upon, the ultimate goal being the understanding and potential harnessing of their powers for advanced technologies. Thomas now serves the government as a special reconnaissance operative, and remains under intense study, continuing the development of technology from his powers and unique biology. However, he has been without freedom for most of his life, has lost his mother, and feels as if he is being used like an object rather than treated fairly like a person. With this experience, he carries a deep mistrust of world governments, especially the USS. He longs to break free of the governments grasp, the only thing stopping him from leaving being his fraternal twin, Maxxus.

Explanation:

Thomas Crofts powers give him the power of ultimate manipulation over matter. He can alter the atomic and physical structure of most substances, harvest energy from energetic/unstable material, rip matter apart using molecular combustion, launch objects at extreme velocity using telekinesis, induce currents, create and absorb deadly radiation, as well as maintain stable flight for reasonable periods of time. His weakness lies in the monumental energy demands of his most powerful abilities, and his bodies’ inability to store it effectively. Thus he must toe the line of instability to use them effectively in combat, risking the spectacular destruction of his body if he becomes greedy and absorbs too much energy. His alias given to him by the government, Atom-X, reflects his absolute control over the atom and matter itself. [edit_reason]fixed names and removed image[/edit_reason]

Name: Maxxus Croft

Alias: Spook

Age: 27

Classification: Hero

Race: Human

Origin: Axdel

Weapon of choice: Firearms, mind blast

Superpowers:

Telepathy - 5
Power Sense - 2.5
Danger Sense - 2.5
Mind Blast - 1.5
Possession - 1
Precognition - 1
Hypnokinesis - 0.5
Psionic Powers - 0.5

History:

Maxxus Croft, also known as Spook, is a very powerful telepath with extensive psionic powers. He is the fraternal twin of Thomas Croft, being genetically unique whilst being gestated at the same time. Their mother was a powerful reality warping meta, gaining her powers on during the Norgradian project AZRAEL, managing to escape not long after. Like his brother, Maxxus began displaying abilities as a child, however his powers were very unlike Thomas’s. For the rest of his life he has been in government custody, but whilst his powers are incredible, the science team of the Meta Research Division are much more keen about the raw application of his brothers abilities. Thus, he feels a greater trust to Axdel and the USS governments, not subjected to the testing and experimentation that his kin was. With a fantastic career as a special reconnaissance operative ahead of him, tracking down and bringing villains to justice, he just cant understand Thomas’s mistrust towards the governments, and hopes he’ll realise he’s with good people soon.

Explanation:

Maxxus is a powerful telepath, with the ability to control and influence the minds of those around him. He can use hypnokinesis to make others suggestive to his orders, or completely control them using possession. He even has occasional visions of the future, although they are usually vague and nonsensical, time being crazy and all. In combat, he is able at CQC, utilising his powerful psionic abilities to telepathically invade, cause great pain to, or even stun his opponents, allowing him to effectively avoid most confrontation. His danger sense can also warn him of major or surprise attacks, meaning he can dodge or prepare for them, though during active combat the feeling can be vague and unreliable. His ability to detect meta’s also means that he can gauge how effective he will be against them based on their powers, and may decide to run away if necessary! If hit with an attack though, his physiology is unaltered, thus he will suffer the subsequent wound like anyone else.[edit_reason]Added weapons of choice[/edit_reason]

(Title) Name: (Holy Aurian Emperor) Adeem al-Azizi

Age: 30

Date of Birth: September 10, 1988

Race: Chasm Ait Aurian

Country of Origin: Holy Empire of Balistria

Personality: Clever, Manipulative, Fiery

Classification: Lawful Neutral

Weapon of Choice: The Mind

Backstory: Born into the religiously important al-Azizi Household, many considered Adeem to be the first documented case of a meta and the first meta to hold absolute control over a nation. Raised in Balistria’s capital city, Ouroboros, Adeem quickly distinguished himself from among his siblings as being the smartest child while often habitually tricking anyone for fun. Passionate about politics and psychology, he was planned on becoming the next Messenger of Aura and succeed his father, Zaki al-Azizi, due to his natural intelligence. However, it was discovered that he held ‘divine powers’ when he saved his younger sister from an otherwise fatal car crash. Feeling threatened by a powerful al-Azizi, Abdul al-Ayoub, the old Moon King of Balistria, immediately ordered for Adeems capture and execution, forcing the young aurian into hiding overseas. However, he soon learned that the impatient King had challenged him to a duel at an arena, and his family’s lives were next in line to receive his death sentence if he failed to appear by a set date. Accepting the duel by simply showing up, Adeem had outwitted and slain the arrogant King with his own sword, but due to him cruelly killing an otherwise beloved ruler, he was disowned by his entire family. To make matters worse, the aurian masses would soon turn on Adeem once it was announced he would become their despised ruler simply due to his earlier cowardice and unfair fighting advantage over the fallen king. While his life seemed to take a turn for the worst, Adeem would manage to use his passions and powers, as well as his secret alliance with the three High Priests of Balistria, to secure control over his empire and eventually dominate the majority of Arcturia islands.
