The War:
It has felt like almost a year since the United Kingdom went to war with the Axis, but for some, the struggle never ended. Whilst the war never came to the doorstep of the UK, it certainly knocked down the doors of Ethalria and Xagrurg. Whilst Xagrurg came just minutes away from collapse, Ethalria was unable to prevent it. With a strong focus on Ethalria, the UK disposed of the Harimann regime. The regime that condoned oppression, fascism and hatred.
In the last several months, the UK has been a key contribution towards funding Ethalrian food banks and medical services. A month into the war, Ethalria went into depression. Food and water became sparse, medicine and medical care became void and state run establishments shut down. Hospitals, schools, workplaces just simply shut down. At this point, Amalda Harimann had begun her indoctrination programs.
In early July, the government adopted conscription for home service in The National Resources Mobilisation Act of 2017 (NRMA), which allowed the government to register men and women and move them into jobs considered necessary for wartime production, and allowed for conscription for the defence of Ethalria. Without enough funding, and with the surrender of Xagrurg to the UK and Kuthernburg, Ethalria fell short of ideas. Their plan had ultimately failed, and it was too late to back out. From this point onward it was an utter failure.
One by one, major Ethalrian cities and military institutions fell. First Avenai, then Arkenvel, Karinthus, Isenborg, Rorikton, which saw a catastrophic Ethalrian defeat; and finally Rivendale, the bloodiest battle of them all. The might that the United Kingdom and her allies performed in the effort was amongst the best observed in world history. To completely annihilate your longest rivals and a nuclear state in the space of 146 days without getting obliterated gained the applauds of countless world nations.
Many people cannot comprehend how such a gigantic power fell even with putting up a stupendous fight. A once mighty Empire thatâs spanned almost two millennia; fallen within several months. Some place it down to the far superior tactics of the UK. Some put it down to sheer number. But what we know is that the UK is a colossus force. A force of unbelievable power and magnitude, relentless and unforgiving; able to exert its force without hesitation, and a force that grows by the minute.
Within weeks of the assassination of Prince Thadeus and the United Kingdomâs declaration of war against Ethalria, the UK saw millions of able men and women line up at military recruitment centres. Millions of people ready for war, ready to free their neighbours from the imposed terror Amalda inflicted and to get revenge for the loss of Thadeus; an idol to many. The UKâs military size rose dramatically, seeing the second highest rise in world history - after the Auroran Imperial War.
The suspicion of Ethal concentration camps rose at the mid point of the war. A strict internet block to the Ethalrian people made it difficult to leak. In early August, satellite imagery revealed trains of Morst citizens being shipped to a site known as Veheizelm; the largest concentration camp, forcing citizens into hard labour. Upon news of the mass slaughter of citizens of the Empire, the Allies quadrupled their efforts. Countries allied to Ethalria began pulling out and dozens more frowned upon their decisions. At the end of the war, pits full of the dead were found in several locations around Ethalria. Four hundred thousand ethnic Morsts were presumed dead, and a death warrant for Amalda Harimann was declared. Fortunately for the woman, she was presumed to have evacuated the country during the siege of Rivendale. Although she was not found, her council was; seven dead and two alive. The Vice Matriarch, who had not shot herself, revealed that Amalda had fled to Gondwana. The hunt for Harimann had begun.
With little knowledge to work by, the UK had tracked her whereabouts to and around Stratarin, but with more pressing political matters, her case became unimportant.
Now, more than ever, with Feladine Junt, commander of the assassination operation close to capture, the UK, with a lust for blood, has turned a lot of its attention on capturing the former fascist Matriarch that had delved into the shadows of exile.
