Breaking News: Abortion clinic in the Akuan District of Osjford destroyed;
The Center for Women’s Health and Pregnancy facility in the Akuan District was discovered to be heavily damaged earlier this morning. With the HVAC located on the roof of the building being smashed up and filled with fertilizer; Doors and windows being cemented or welded into place; electric, telephone and fiber cables being cut; as well the piping of sewage and water being sealed off with the valves to the building being glued to prevent turning them. Including several other important parts of the building being heavily damaged as well, but not listed here.
The abortion clinic was opened in February of this year despite being originally planned to be opened last year January, and has been a constant source of strife. With protests around the building construction forcing several delays to its construction. Then when it opened, the largest recorded protest in the district protesting against the opening of the clinic. Despite the fierce resistance to the clinic, it opened regardless in February. Too much animosity of the residents of the district.
The clinic being opened in the district was heavily debated and under much scrutiny within the city council of Osfjord. With the main debate being the purpose of the role of the Woman’s Health Clinic, and it being opened within the Akuan District. Questioning opening such a clinic would be against the Akuan Districts special protections; How much a role of abortion would take place in the woman’s health clinic and several other factors into the discussion. With almost unanimous support from the Akuan clinic being against the opening of the clinic within the district all together unless certain conditions were met by the clinic.
Top of the list of conditions being to only allow abortions in cases of threatening the life of the mother and requiring a doctor’s statement of approval from a different clinic or hospital to confirm the threat to the mother’s life. Another condition was requiring ultrasounds of the pregnancy to be shown to the mother, at the cost of the clinic. Most controversially it required the employees of the clinic to have their name open to the public, which was released to the public and printed on the local Akuan newspapers within the next day of clinic opening.
The clinic suffered from staffing issues, operating on a skeleton crew and consistent budging issues. With a rotation of Akuan protest groups being outside of the clinic during all working hours, often temporarily blocking access to the clinic for hours throughout the week. The clinic made repeated requests to have a police officer stationed at the clinic, however was only able to keep a single officer at the clinic once a week for unspecified reasons.
The staff of the clinic repeatedly aired their frustrations on Pigeon, with a clinic’s only doctor sending a post speaking about feeling of getting the cold shoulder by Akuanists almost overnight when he was hired. Citing the Akuan newspapers having printed his full name and photo as a borderline threat on his life. As well complains about having to move out of the Akuan District which he lived in for two decades for several reasons. Describing a feeling of being collectively shunned by his community and being barred from attending local events in the neighborhood.
It has been suggested by insiders of the Akuan community that the attack was motivated by circumstantial evidence of the clinic providing abortions without the doctor’s statement of the necessity of the abortion and was freely providing the service. Which became proof for the local newspapers that they were not following the conditions of the agreement, and was printed as truth on the matter. Despite the claims, the doctor of the clinic stated that due to the extreme staffing issues and general poor morale of the clinic, filing papers could be easily lost.
Despite this, the clinic was destroyed by an unknown large group of Akuanists, two hours after the clinic closed. Despite the clinic being in a busy and densely populated part of the district, no one in the neighborhood claimed to see the building being damaged nor reported it to the police. The doctor being the one to discover the doors being welded shut and the windows being glued when attempting to open the clinic the morning after.
Repairing the clinic would have cost almost as much as building the clinic in the first place. The doctor claimed, and stated the clinic will not be reopening due to the financial and hostility of the community.
The police have made arrests of three individuals who were found at the area of the crime with welding equipment. They were charged with destruction of property and were required to pay a fine of 2,000 UKR. A local business owner in the neighborhood, Magar Ny’Dahl crowdfunded paying for the fine for the three individuals and paid their bond. Despite only three people being arrested, it has been alleged that close to a dozen and a half Akuanists took part in destroying the building.
The NNN reached out to Prime Minister, Wilhelm Kirkeland, for a comment about the topic and asked if the Labour Party will push for more security and support to abortion clinics. Though Mister Kirkeland has simply stated that: “This is a matter for the Administrative President of the region to deal with, and I trust his judgment on the matter”.
When the NNN reached out to Administrative President of Stor Osfjord, Torbjørn Havret, for an statement he simply claimed it was a matter to the Mayor of Osfjord to deal with and that he is “certain that Mayor Birkdal knows what she is doing”.
Mayor Anna Birkdal has stated that she has placed this matter into the hands of the new police commissioner of Osfjord, who she has put her full faith into dealing with the matter with respect towards both pro-choice and pro-life organizations.
The police commissioner has refused to answer any questions about their position on the matter and simply states that people should respect the law.
The attack against the abortion clinic has gotten a wide array of responses on Pigeon, with important party representatives posting their reactions to the news. In which the People’s Workers Party MP, Yke Nåtveti, had condemned the attack and stated the attack to be a: “Attack on women’s health and clear disrespect towards women rights and shame for the entire nation. The police have failed as an institution and must be held responsible for a lack of security given to the clinic!”
An local Gothir within Osfjord and a notable member of the Ulvriktru Democrats, Henrik Askebein, stated on Pigeon that: “Attack of private property is illegal and must be condemned, however the decision by the clinic to go against regulations set must never be forgotten. I cannot in good conscience ignore such attitudes coming from a so-called ‘professional’ doctor”.
The Akuan Interest Party party leader, Bergiz Ny’kken released a statement on Pigeon. “The murder for hire business of the clinic cannot be ignored, they went against the community wishes and the regulations. The murder facility shouldn’t have ever been built in the first place if they couldn’t fund a full staff. The first thing doctors learn is to do no harm, however we allow such vile places to exist and keep letting doctors harm our more vulnerable people, our children. The baby murdering ‘healer’…” NNN would like to apologize to our readers, for having to cut the quote. For our reasoning for cutting the quote can be found at the end of the article.
NNN approached the doctor of the clinic for a comment on the matter. They stated they were moving to Nyveldet with their family, and requested to have their name not published in the article. The other employees of the clinic have stated similar requests.
