Although a war has only recently ended and Vladistock Island is having problems with “zombies”, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a small RP involving defence contracts. The Dannistrian economy, if the NS Stats page on sunsetrpg.com is to be believed, is doing well. So the defence budget has been upped, despite much concern from anti-war Dannistrians, and the nation is looking to procure more defence equipment. The 2 main objectives are getting an extra aircraft carrier of Nimitz size and type (We already have two) and an upgrade on the Zero Point Energy Orbital Weapon (Assuming that part of the bill gets through the generally anti-war Parliament). Any interest? If so I’ll start the RP in the appropriate forum.

But otherwise, the Pax will sell older equipment. An older starship may be retrofitted to do surface hovering and launches. Also being sole are older particle cannons.

General Dynamics Naval Systems (NS Division), which is based in FPS, would probably be more then up to making the contract to sell a few Nimitz carriers (or like sized models).
East Malaysia does not sell it’s new equipment but may sell it’s older equipment. EM is a high tech nation and uses star trek equipment.

Eh, I’ll have to look up costs and such over break…chances are, FPS will want a 5% profit at least, but would probably do an initial bid of 10-15% (and then revise it if necesary).

Just curious Danistaan, but did your defence guys ignore what our expanded proproasl was, before the GD rep spoke? Didn’t know for sure, as you really didn’t react to it in the thread, so I was wondering about that.

If you have battlemechs with laser swords, plasma weapons, and jetpacks, why are you bothering to buy present tech weapons? Even Pack doesn’t have laser swords (I think). That kind of tech would place you in the top echelon tech-wise in the EP, and that doesn’t go with your ‘ex-British colony’ theme.
yea, i kinda agree. Having AC units and mechs kinda negates the reason for infantry units and infantry arms…right?
Not necesarily. I’m working under the assumption that he has a very limited number of these things, that their extremely expensive to build, and that, although strong, if destroyed, its a hell of a lot to loose.

FPS got that right. Although we do have battlemechs they are really only used in emergencies, like this riot. Most of the time they sit in a secure bunker. Although the numbers aren’t that limited. A bigger restriction is the political rammifications of using them and the number of pilots. And don’t think they are the end all of weapons. They have similar vulnerabilities to a tank, albeit they can take more punishment. And as I like to think, they are more of a “Jack of all Trades”. The Dannstrian military really needs more specialised “conventional” equipment and the economy can cope with the loss of an aircraft carrier more than the loss of an AC Mech.
As a further note, although anime style mechs are fairly high tech, I’ve given them some semi-realistic constraints i.e. they are not that fast except with the boosters, most run off diesel and they really only are used when heavy firepower is requested. Also the machine might survive a direct hit from a missile but there is a high attrition rate for pilots. Think of them as tanks on legs if it really bothers you. The roads on the damn island are quite poor even for tracked vehicles.
And Kandarin, not all of them use plasma weapons. Only a few. Most use conventional arms. That laser swords ain’t that stable either and require quite a bit of fiddling to get them to work. It might not fit in with the general theme, but hey, you lot have cyborgs and starships! We need to have some edge too you know!

does that mean you’re not going to be RPing for a month? or the defence bidding will be on hold for an RP month?
It will be put on hold for an RP month. Realistically I probably won’t continue with it until next year as I said in your Takedown OOC I’m busy in real life and I’m committing to the Shiro Academy for now.
Since Shiro Academy has slown down I’ve changed my mind. 
The RP will go on as long as there is interest.
