BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAGISTERIUM OF THE EAST PACIFIC
SECTION I. CITATION
…1.1. This resolution shall be known and cited as the “Resolution on Honoring the General Secretariat of May 2025”.
SECTION II. FINDINGS
…2.1. In May of 2025, the Moderation and Administration team of NationStates (“Nationstates staff”) took punitive action against a then-member of the General Secretariat of Nationstates (“GenSec”) known as Separatist Peoples (“Sep”), unjustly firing Sep from the GenSec and deleting his nation after Sep requested bereavement leave for a period of family mourning in the world beyond NationStates.
…2.2. In support of their colleague, when very few expected it of them or asked them to, all remaining 5 Secretariats of the GenSec swiftly resigned from their posts within the next 24 hours - losing out on the prestige and power of the position of Secretariat forever while risking potential retaliation from NationStates staff.
…2.3. The GenSec members did not do this out of public pressure but rather in following with strong moral principles and in opposition to the heartless actions and administrative negligence shown and reinforced by NationStates staff.
…2.4. Sep did not make the easy choice to initially resign or to let this injustice fall into obscurity, but rather committed to a clear timeline of return and exposed the cruelty of NationStates staff at great personal risk. Similarly, every single member of GenSec could have easily stayed in their role or not spoken up, but all of them made the difficult and right choice to leave GenSec after years of service.
…2.5. All of the GenSec team, including Sep, have been incredibly devoted to improving the General Assembly of the World Assembly, through advice, feedback, and enforcement of the rules and resolutions as well as mentorship and support to new and returning authors. They have made a mark on this game and have always stood by their principles in the face of adversity; notably, when Wallenburg, an East Pacifican former GenSec member, was facing an unjust firing, it was Sep and the rest of GenSec who stood by him.
…2.6. While this resolution is but a very small way to remember them, it is nonetheless one of the only ways the Magisterium, and through it the region, may permanently record and honor the sacrifice the GenSec made to stand for morality and justice.
