TEP History: Q&A

That’s pretty much all there is to it. If there’s a particular question you have concerning TEP history, ask it here. Don’t be shy - someone who can either find relevant posts to point you to your answer or outright tell you the answer will be around shortly.

My guess is it’s somewhere in http://theeastpacific.com/forum/365. I’m not very familiar with WWIII RP’s here - that may be before my time. Perhaps Pack or EM would be better to field the question?

Whose idea was it to make it impossible to see what you’re typing on the board? https://groups.tapatalk-cdn.com/smilies/52127/1536592187.0794-smiley.gif?ttinline=truehttp://i.imgur.com/sk9NEtq.png

Let’s start at the very beginning (it’s a very good place to start)

What day was The East Pacific founded?

OMG, you asked about warfare in TEP? This is a textbook all on its own. I will go digging through the archives in search of some of the better ones.

Pax! Feel free to add, I added what I could based off of memory.

EP War 2
(I can’t seem to locate the actual IC thread, I might have missed it, or it might be lost from the forum server crash a few years back)

http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/history.aspx?region=The+East+Pacific&type=Exact&group=region&start=&end= (NSSuite direct link is on the FAQ page)

The nswiki.net actually has where it all started with Hitler the Great, who founded the region by orders of the Atlantic Central Command and by the powers of NS was formed as a Feeder region; during this time it had several delegates nobody remembers. Lotlanthanderamore took over the region in April 2003 but became ill and handed the region over to Loop until he came back; he never returned. From that point on it was the start of “The Modern EP,” the foundation were laid when this forum was founded on May 30th-31st 2003 by Loop

That’s the beginning.

What was the motivation behind The Empire in TEP?

Basically from what I take during that time, they just wanted to overthrow the government, and force the community here to accept it and convert to their forum. We do pride our sovereignty being one of the oldest continual government in NS but during that time Gnidrah became inactive. While we operated a government-in-exile for a few months, we ended up being the victors and that’s when we reorganized the government into its current structure you see here today.

But this is a summary of what The Empire is and they do exist to this day causing trouble back in Dec 2012 from what the NSwiki article says.

— Begin quote from ____

The Empire is a group of Game Created Region coupers, known best for their overthrow of the delegacies of The East Pacific, Osiris and other game created regions over a period of more than four years. The Empire is most notorious for their overthrow on the government of the East Pacific on August 16, 2008 and was the de-facto government of the East Pacific for a period of more than four months before their removal from the delegacy in December 2008. They also overthrew Osiris in December 2012, tricking the United Defenders League into supporting their coup.
The empire is presently led by Lady Phedre (Neenee) and members include Biyah, Dalimbar and New Kervoskia.

How did the takeover by the Empire go? I mean, civilized, not so civilized, outright griefing… what happened in those months?

Read Drak’s SovCon Diplomats thread if ya wanna get a flavor for it…

No, no and no.

1: TEP was the target because Gnid was inactive. It had been said a feeder could not be taken and held in an environment including Influence, and that irritated a lot of the older Feeder warriors, myself included. We proved otherwise. The biggest ‘problem’ we had, per se, was the RolePlay aspect we started with.

Every empire member was under cover at first, and we were heavily a Roleplay government. I, as Rahl, posted an opening message that was taken literally – and that lead to a lot of bad blood. Looking back (even a week later), we went ‘oops’.

2: We did not crush TEP under our foot. I have been invited to TEP as a citizen, a former Empire member was a delegate. Take that for how you like, in terms of how TEP treats us. I haven’t had any issues with this region in years. And since we never took it to harm TEP, there was never a problem to start with.

3: The Empire had nothing to do with Osiris. We changed our names on IRC once, to our old Empire persona, for shock value and because half of us were drunk. Beware NS wiki – its facts are only as stable as the perspective of the person who wrote it. With that said, I’ll now have to have some words with the owner – thanks for pointing it out.

If you want to know why we did what we did as Empire personnel in TEP, you have to ask a member of the Cadre from that time. Not to be argumentative, that’s just common sense.

You can read what Biyah mentioned also, I’m going off of what I know, because I didn’t really interact with The Empire members during that time nor do I currently know any well enough to have a historical reflection on a time of hearsay.

I wouldn’t call it not call it uncivilized but it was a power struggle. In the beginning, we might have been happy to see some change but we wanted it here on our forums and not on some foreign forums. But in the end, we survived.

thank you for the warfare links its gonna take a me a while to dig into them. :stuck_out_tongue:

What happened there?

Now with that, let me fill in some information first.

Der Fuhrer Dyszel (DFD): Was a very gifted RPer. She was a member of The Empire who decided to come here and become a member of this community. She became a delegate of TEP and forum admin.

British Grand Pacific (BGP)

The last part of http://theeastpacific.com/single/?p=8002327&t=5166818 is directed to DFD. Basically she was going through a rough patch in RL and BGP at that time caused some problems and directed some of that, at her. But that was a while ago and BGP has apologized in his open letter to us. So I don’t want to bring up exact details obviously since some old wounds need to be left alone.

My perspective is a bit different. The Empire was a bunch of brutish knuckleheads. NationStates is a game and they wanted to prove they could take over one of the feeder regions. And they did. But they couldn’t hold it.

It wasn’t the RolePlay aspect that was problematic. They behaved very poorly with many of the members of the region.

The role play was the “you are all filth” and “you must bow down to us” nonsense.

The poor behavior came when they attacked individuals. Personally, I was accused of being unethical and a cheater. And just as they were defeated and left the region, they banned and ejected a bunch of other nations – just out of spite.

I was not looking for trouble or influence when it all started. My only interest in NS was the World Assembly and answering issues. I did that for a long time, minding my own business in TEP. Then, these knuckleheads appeared and I learned to play the endo game. I wrote hundreds of telegrams to nations in TEP asking them to endorse Dannistan and myself. I wasn’t particularly keen to be Delegate. I just wanted the reign of foolishness to end.

I got lots of help. There were many more experienced players and raiders who alerted me to some of the strategy and tactics.

The real heroes were the nations of TEP. The nations wanted a democratic region and we made that happen.

Some months later I disappeared from the region. I’ve returned for a look around and maybe I can stay long enough to be helpful.

ASBS

I have a question. During the Imperial(Empire)occupation of TEP, were Loop and Gnidrah ejected?
In other words, were Loop and Gnidrah ejected during Lady Phedre’s time as delegate?
Could the person answering also provide links to topics/posts confirming that?
