ELIMINATIONS IN THE DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP CAMPAIGN

With less than two weeks until voting day to find a new leader of the Democratic Party, debates have been held in two of four countries of Great Morstaybishlia across the cities of Valeron, Kirdintayos, Kasidura, Warladnes, Redrugus, Celidizia and Bursil, with the second round of voting to be in the cities of Fort Jubrayn, Prosperior, Aeternum, Lambertupol Fort Nocturne and Port Makuh. After todays results, two candidates have been eliminated from the race, not receiving enough nominations to proceed to the second round, leaving Don-Lee Flawdon, Osborne Saudaran, Krul Darr, Rubie Dillarin and Margrette Casvone. News which reached us merely minutes ago tell us that Krul Darr has in fact withdrawn from his campaign and has endorsed Don-Lee Flawdon.

RIBEROE TALKS A SUCCESS

This morning, Great Morstaybishlia hosted a behind closed doors meeting with a delegation from Norgsveldet and Meremaa; Ragnar Hammerkjold, the Norgsveltian Minister of Defense and Grand Duke Njord II of Meremaa, in Riberoe, the capital of their Overseas Territory of Dalmaghar to discuss a pressing issue relating to the sovereignty of Dalmaghar during the Arkian Civil War.

Meremaa and Norgsveldet has aligned with the Arkian Empire, the imperialists in the Arkian Civil War. With Morstaybishlia siding to the democratic West Arkalarius, this has posed a serious problem with the sovereignty of Dalmaghar. Great Morstaybishlia initially send a handful of frigates and a couple of destroyers to Dalmaghar, but with tensions rising in Meremaan territorial waters there had to be something done.

First Secretary of State Riannar Karmer deputised for Prime Minister Barvata alongside Secretary of State for Defence Mikhail Sankuda. The three signatories signed a treaty of non-aggression between the three states over the territorial waters, and also land of Meremaa and Dalmaghar, known simply as the Riberoe Pact.

Discussions were varied, communication between the three nations would become frequent, Great Morstaybishlia is obliged to declare any large movements of vessels to Dalmaghar beforehand (a vessel that sits above the category of frigate), but whereby Great Morstaybishlia is NOT entitled to share figures on military equipment and materiel. Norgsveltian and Meremaan frigates are to escort Great Morstaybishlian vessels to Dalmaghar which will deliver heavy defensive equipment such as tanks, mortars, heavy artillery, soldiers and other defensive materiel; this escort is to maintain a level of trust between the three. After such materiel is fully delivered, Morstaybishlian destroyers and other large naval vessels (anything that classifies above a frigate) will depart Dalmaghar, and for all signatories to respect the Pact, Great Morstaybishlia will inform the signatories to any other movements ahead of time.

Unfortunately, de-escalation talks between Great Morstaybishlia, Norgsveldet and Meremaa were unsuccessful.

WINTER BEGINS

Winter has officially begun in Great Morstaybishlia and for the rest of the southern hemisphere. Usual celebration for the transition from Autumn to Winter has less recognition this time as the main topic of conversation in the media, newspaper and other outlets are focused on the Arkian Civil War.

NEW POLL; WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR GREAT MORSTAYBISHLIA?

A new recent poll in the province of Nocturne has indicated that there is an increase of support for an independent Nocturne Republic. Nocturne has historically shown itself to be the furthest of all of Caltharus in terms of political apathy and cultural identity, and it even has an independence movement, known as the Nocturne Independence Party (NIP), who since the 2019 Great Morstaybishlia General Election has held six seats in Parliament. The NIP is a party who does not swear allegiance to the king or crown, and therefore they do not sit in the six seats they hold in parliament.

The poll in question was last conducted 15 years ago in the province of Nocturne. The movement has grown from 14% of people in Nocturne wanting independence to 39%. Nocturne has become the biggest area for an independence movement in all of Great Morstaybishlia, the next biggest independence movement being Horkalo which in the 2017 polls had 7% of the province’s population wanting independence from Great Morstaybishlia.

News at Four:

HURRICANE CAUSES COASTAL DAMAGE

The north coast of Staynes was hit last night by Hurricane Reginald, a Category 3 hurricane unleashing 123 miles per hour winds for a stint of seven and a half hours starting from Fort Staynes in Horkalo Province to and Handerston, a small market town in Jubrionas Province. The hurricane began moving inland, but then downgraded to a Category 1 and then a tropical storm. Its highest winds were recorded at 128 miles per hour, just shy of becoming a Category 4 hurricane.

The Albinus Coast, one of the most famous coastlines in the world recognised for its sheer white cliff faces had areas which were rocked by the storm weather and aggressive waves. The weather was so brutal that it tore apart the iconic headland Saddlers Point, collapsing a nearly one thousand year old arch. The new stack is named Saddlers Rock.

The storm injured one person, a 74 year old man called Johnald Beck. He suffered from a broken hip after a fall, and is recovering in Fort Staynes Royal Infirmary. The storm has caused widespread property damage in the two provinces which is expected to cost 12 million Kiribs.

RUFUINA MARCHES INTO PUNTALIA

Moments ago a joint Rufuinian and Puntalian military has SEIZED control over the capital of Puntalia, San Augustin in what President Hanlon is calling a COMMIE HUNT. Hanlon has described there being communist spies from Osterlicsh and East Cerdani in Rufuina and Puntalia, with their apparent goal to “find weaknesses and to spread their communist manifesto throughout Arcturia”. As of now, not much is known on this situation, but it has prompted an international response, with Puntalian President Pablo de dios Juarez adhering to the demands of the forces which have surrounded his office buildings.

Franklin Barvata has prompted on CafeNet that he will release a statement tomorrow morning following talks with the President of Rufuina in the evening. More on this story as it develops.

GREAT MORSTAYBISHLIA DEPLOYS THE HOME FLEET

The past several days have seen a DRAMATIC rise in tensions in Arcturia surrounding the “naive” and “unprovoked” decision for the Confederacy of Rufuina to take over Puntalia and remove a “communist threat” that has been described by President Hanlon of Rufuina to be “knocking on the doors of Puntalia’s government”. However, despite Hanlon’s nation addresses that claims there’s evidence to a “communist takeover” hinted to have been orchestrated by the Urthian Workers’ Internationale, no evidence has been found to exist by several independent investigations and the “illegal coup”, as Olav I stated in his national address, has been condemned by political blocs such as the NSTO, which Morstaybishlia is a Special Member of; the LN and the UCA as well as numerous unaffiliated nations for their involvement and march into Puntalia.

The future of regional security in Arcturia but more specifically Rufuina and its bordering nations are unknown. Prime Minister Franklin Barvata has made a small address which does not explicitly detail the Morstaybishlian Government’s plan going forward, but has provided some insight into what stance his government will take until plans are announced at a Rufuinan hosted meeting.

The 2020 Puntalian Military Intervention has seen a rapid escalation of tensions within Arcturia over the last week, and the mobilisation of troops by all parties is something not welcome in a once peaceful region. Great Morstaybishlia will look in to ways it can mediate the conflict going forward, and believes that de-escalation is the only way forward.

I will be attending a meeting with world leaders in Rufuina within the coming week to discuss the potential for de-escalation going forward to come to a set of agreed terms. The last thing we wish to do is ruin the lives of many innocent people in Arcturia if these political tensions enter an era of conflict. Only after these talks will I make a national address to elaborate and pin down Great Morstaybishlia’s foreign policy, the route it will take in the region and how it will protect its citizens in New Calth.

Soon after his speech, the Imperial Navy’s Home Fleet, headed by the flagship of the Glasgore-class aircraft carriers MBS Glasgore left Xenliada Naval Base. It was accompanied by two other aircraft carriers MBS Sinkasa and MBS Jarsdel with many supporting vessels and is bound for Lambombay Naval Base. It is yet unknown as to what role this fleet will have. The Lieutenant Governor of New Calth Dominic Longstorm has partially redirected its maritime trade routes that usually pass by Puntalia and Rufuina to well outside of Puntalia and Rufuina’s exclusive economic zone in a precautionary measure during this unforeseen time.

GREAT MORSTAYBISHLIA MOVES ITS HOME FLEET

The Home Fleet that was led by three Glasgore-class supercarriers have moved into three separate groups today. The first, led by HMS Jarsdel as the lead vessel, is moving into position at Histranza and Pelda; the second is led by HMS Sinkasa to lead a group at Fargo and the third and biggest force is led by HMS Glasgore, Great Morstaybishlia’s lead supercarrier, to guide the final third on Puntalia’s northernmost coastline but primarily focused at San Agustín. By establishing a very large naval perimeter Prime Minister Barvata believes the MBE will prevent any naval invasion that Norgsveldet and its allies may decide to initiate during the Morstaybishlian humanitarian aid programme.

BARVATA TELLS MORE OF HIS PLANS

Barvata has told the press that he aims to be the lead mediator within this conflict of interest between the combined UCA-NSTO and Rufuina surrounding the involvement in Puntalia. He has stated that the upcoming meeting in Fargo will be Barvata’s best opportunity to solve the very dangerous and seemingly uncontrollable UCA militarisation that is occurring within South Peragen and Lokania.

“The UCA’s plans are becoming increasingly obvious as the days progress,” Riannar Karmer, First Secretary of State tells the MBC, “It’s quite clear now that their agenda is not to sort this out by diplomatic means but to use brute force in forcing their favoured status quo. Their senseless militarisation at the border just proves that the UCA is not interested in resolve at the Fargo Summit.”

The Fargo Summit that will commence with delegations from Rufuina, South Peragen, Lokania, Sokala, Great Morstaybishlia, North Ethalria, Norgsveldet and Arkalarius on 2 July 2020 and will aim to end the tensions building up in the region and to provide a means to an end of all hostilities. Barvata says that “failure to do so will end with dire catastrophe.”

SVERDRUP: “UNREASONABLE”

In a rare occasion, Prime Minister Franklin Barvata has opened up to the media in his latest press release scrutinising Prime Minister Johanna Sverdrup of Norgsveldet for her “lack of professionalism and cooperation” with the Morstaybishlian PM in regards to the rising tension in Arcturia. He told the MBC and other media outlets that he tried his hardest to come to meaningful cooperation and convince Sverdrup to “de-escalate, improvise and overcome” the threat to relative world peace together, as a team. Barvata has said that “if the Prime Minister of Norgsveldet had been more rational and understanding, a much better scenario could have come about rather than exchanging harsh words via the telephone.”

Barvata has also stated that he is very welcome to Prime Minister Sverdrup re-igniting a channel of discussion to de-escalate and end the tension. It is uncertain how this verbal exchange between world leaders from our nation and Norgsveldet will play out in the coming weeks as tensions in Arcturia grow and reach breaking point.

UNPRECEDENTED MOVES

PACKILVANIA has deployed its FLEET in support of Rufuina, after Empress Noi spoke with Prime Minister Franklin Barvata for around twenty minutes last night which resulted in Packilvanian intervention to mediate a growing conflict of interest between the NSTO, UCA and Rufuina regarding Puntalia. Packilvania has stated it will also be sending ground forces, equipment, vehicles and ordinance in the coming hours and days. North Ethalria has also declared its support for Rufuina earlier this week, with President Clauzia Sarohart sending over 50,000 troops and respective equipment in the first few days via fast response planes, before fully committing to over 100,000 troops if war broke out.

Barvata has once again asked Prime Minister Sverdrup as leading political figure of the UCA to re-establish a channel of communications to end the UCA buildup of troops and to end an uncertain and unwelcome future in Arcturia- preferring a mediated and agreed response to the Rufuinan acquisition of UCA member state Puntalia. He hopes that the two superpowers of Packilvania and Great Morstaybishlia and their large combined naval presence will act as a deterrent for war where he believes “peaceful resolutions are the only solution.”

In accordance with the Riberoe Pact, Franklin Barvata informed Prime Minister Johanna Sverdrup of Norgsveldet and Grand Duke Njord II of Meremaa that he will be sending 20,000 soldiers, over 100 Colonarius Mk2s to Glasgore Garrison, anti-aircraft weaponry as well as a plethora of other military equipment via military transport planes to Dalmaghar in response to the ongoing Puntalian conflict where Norgsveldet and Morstaybishlia are on opposing sides. The Prime Minister insists he wants to uphold the fragile relationship it has with Meremaa and Norgsveldet and has stated he has not broken the Riberoe Pact by sending the Imperial Navy, which would be threatening to Meremain sovereignty. Barvata believes that when tensions ease in Arcturia, the need for defending Dalmaghar from a hostile attack will diminish. Barvata also went on to suggest that it will be tracking mobilisation of naval vessels within Meremaa and Norgsveldet and if there’s reasonable suspicion of an attack on Morstaybishlian soil the Concordian Fleet stationed in Kuthernburg and the Morstaybishlian Rotantic Territories will send two carrier strike groups, led by Glasgore-class aircraft carrier MBS Klintani to defend its asset.

SANI BURSIL SUMMIT COMMENCES; WORLD LEADERS ARRIVE AT THE CAPITAL

Sani Bursil was bustling with life on the sunny morning as leaders from around the world arrived to attend the Sani Bursil Summit at Boscowen House. Prime Minister Franklin Barvata invited leaders from nations directly involved in the Puntalian Crisis, including Rufuina, Norgsveldet, Lokania, South Peragen, North Ethalria, Packilvania, Kuthernburg, Nacata, Sokala, Tretrid, Durakia, Sokala, New Leganes, the exiled government of Puntalia and Puntalia’s leader who was appointed by Rufuina. Barvata told news that this is the be-all and end-all for the Puntalian Crisis and hopes that the Sani Bursil Summit will result in the decline of hostilities in the area.

The summit is open to observer states, and as such dignitaries from the Urthian Workers Internationale, who were not invited, have attended. Also among the list of observer attendees are Asendavia, Nordenpunto and Vivancantadia.

Rallies for both sides; pro-Rufuina and pro-UCA has sparked up across Sani Bursil. These non-violent rallies were planned and coordinated with Sani Bursil Metropolitan Police and are being held between 1PM and 2:30PM this afternoon. These demonstrations are a fine example of the freedom of expression and political opinion in Great Morstaybishlia that certain nations lack.

Some national leaders made comments to the press before entering Boscowen House, whilst most did not comment to the questions being asked. King Olav made a short and snappy comment to the media, stating: “I am here to seek peace, now if you please excuse me, I have actual work to do”. Another leader, despite Barvata not inviting them for their communist ideals and surrounding the controversy in Puntalia, Chairmain of State of the Democratic Republic of Osterlicsh, Ronald Stemmler, made a more concerted response to the MBC: “The Democratic Republic of Osterlicsh and the Urthian Worker’s Internationale both condemn the activities of so-called Rufuina in our neighbouring nation of Puntalia. The unprovoked and aggressive invasion of the Puntalian people has only served to benefit so-called Rufuina’s political aims. In these talks, the UWI will push to ensure that these aggressive actions are regretted. Thank you.”"

STAYNISH, CALTHARUSIAN AND SOUTH STAYNISH FOOTBALL TEAMS DEPART FOR VULTUCA

Football fans from the different countries of Great Morstaybishlia will be anticipating the upcoming IFFA World Cup, this time being held in Vultuca. Over the weekend three passenger aircraft, all DF-211’s from East Cerdani departed for Alankää, the capital of Vultuca. In the group stages South Staynes and Caltharus face off among the AMR and Faethalria, all vying for a place in the round of sixteen.

Staynes on the other hand goes in facing Blueacia, Celannica and Acronis- all three other nations fielding strong teams. Fans in Staynes got their first glimpse of the Staynish Lineup yesterday, anticipating that they would field a strong team. Whilst the team was one of the stronger teams fielded by the Staynish in the last twenty years, three players stood out above all else; Riannar Kosan was a 24 year old that played for Bursil F.C. and was the top goalscorer in the Staynish Premier League, and Marlan Digosleigh, the first choice keeper, who was 28, was regarded as one of the worlds’ best goalkeepers of the 21st century, his cleansheet record was one to look out for, his talent would surely bring fame and fortune to the team and Arran Salter, an all-round and versatile box-to-box player, who is capable of playing anywhere in midfield; throughout his career he has been deployed as a central midfielder, as an attacking midfielder, as a defensive midfielder, and even as a supporting striker on occasion. He has also been deployed as a deep-lying playmaker on occasion, in particular in his later years due to his ability to build attacks with his passing. A hard-working player, with notable stamina and an ability to read the game, Salter is also capable of functioning creatively and starting attacking plays or providing assists for teammates after winning back possession, due to his technique, vision, and passing range. In addition to his creative and defensive midfield duties, Salter also possesses a keen eye for goal, due to his ability to get forward and make late attacking runs from behind into the penalty area, or produce accurate and powerful shots from distance. These attributes have enabled Salter to maintain a prolific goalscoring record throughout his career, despite his deep playing position.

The Caltharusian and South Staynish team have yet to release their lineups, although the South Staynish team suffered a sprain injury for their first choice keeper in training, forcing Brad Muntsley to the benches for their first leg match. As the days and hours are narrowing down the people in South Staynes and Caltharus are anticipating the fixture that will pit the two nations of Great Morstaybishlia; a new but strong rivalry, people around the world are seemingly excited that it is a game worth watching.

News at Three Thirty:

PUNTALIAN COMPROMISE TREATY RATIFIED

After nearly a week of anticipation, nations from around the globe have come together at the Sani Bursil Summit today and after an hour of deliberations came to an agreement regarding the Puntalian Crisis. The treaty will see Puntalia as we know it split into two sovereign states; the exiled Puntalian government will be given the western states of Noroeste, Cumbre Norte; and parts of Norte, Central, Fuente del Rio and Cumbre Sur with its capital as Fuerta Del Ray to form New Puntalia and Puntalia will receive the eastern states not mentioned. Between the nations will be a hard border only operated by police and border force personnel.

The island territories will be divided between the two nations of New Puntalia and Puntalia. Puntalia will receive Lima y Limon whilst New Puntalia will receive La Paraiso, Islas Raquezas and Puerto Florosa. To ensure peace, Lima y Limon will not be allowed to erect a naval base under any circumstances, an air base housing over ten attack craft or a barracks housing over one thousand troops. To ensure a lasting presence of peace there are things in place; the Puntalian Cooperation Council led by Great Morstaybishlia, and Norgsveldet will establish military installations in La Paraiso on two different islands at the discretion of the New Puntalian Government as well as the Puntalian Cooperation Council will maintain two military bases in both Puntalia and New Puntalia, totalling four bases.

President Halon agreed to pay 175 million KRB in reparations, as well as funding a Housing Development Program that will erect eighty thousand to one hundred thousand homes for citizens relocating from Puntalia to New Puntalia alongside contributions from the UCA for a ten year period. Rufuina will be obliged to invest two hundred and fifty million KRB to infrastructure in New Puntalia over the course of ten years. Clauses are in place that obliges Rufuina to respect civil rights and religious freedoms as well as the ability of citizens to relocate to New Puntalia. Parties that are Social Democratic will be legal in Puntalia.

Rufuinan occupation ended this afternoon as per the treaty; the dignitaries agreed that all vehicles (including naval vessels) and equipment of the Puntalian Armed Forces will be divided equally between Puntalia and New Puntalia, overseen by the Puntalian Cooperation Council as well as the Union of Commonwealth Alliances will be able to hold the equal amount of personnel and equipment in New Puntalia than there is in Puntalia until New Puntalia’s armed forces is of adequate size.

The NSTO, UCA and Rufuina signed a treaty of non-aggression at the summit, ending the NSTO No Fly Zone, Morstaybishlian occupation of Rufuina and Puntalia’s waters and a ten kilometer demilitarisation zone at the border.

To ensure the signatories follow and respect the treaty, the Puntalian Cooperation Council was formed, its member states are Great Morstaybishlia, Xiopothos, Axdel, Tivot, Peregrinia and Free Pacific States; any failure to comply with clauses will result in heavy fines of five hundred million KRB per offence and continual failure to comply will result in military intervention.

It is unclear of the political future between the two Puntalia’s, but it is clear that peace in the region may continue hopefully for the near and far future. More on this story as it develops…

Breaking News

WORST TERRORIST ATTACK ON MORSTAYBISHLIAN SOIL IN OVER 100 YEARS

People of Aurora woke up to SHOCK and HORROR today as a coordinated TERRORIST ATTACK on the police headquarters of Barbarus Province in Delgerdatter and another attack on the police headquarters of Khouser happened at 8:36 and 9:06.

In Delgerdatter, a lone Khadgar tank operated by novice rebel fighters and a force of 37 terrorist gunmen shot tank ammunition at the side of the building numerous times before infiltrating the headquarters and executing any survivors they could get their hands on. The army was deployed and eliminated the terrorist incursion in the city.

Precisely half an hour later, the people who orchestrated the attack in Delgerdatter began another, this time in the city of Khauser. The same thing happened but the response time was a lot faster, the police fatalities were less and the terrorist threat was completely annihilated

Prime Minister Franklin Barvata has since locked down Caltharus on Black Alert, the highest level of military response in case of a terrorist attack. The Prime Minister is expected to make a public statement addressing the terrorist attack and the Royal Court has announced that King Lambertus VII will be making an address tonight.

The casualty list is the highest of any terrorist attack on Morstaybishlian soil within the last 100 years. In Delgerdatter the death toll was 31 whilst 41 were wounded and in Khauser the death toll was 26 whilst 30 were wounded. On both fronts 69 terrorists were slain whilst 2 surrendered and were taken into custody for interrogation. In total, 67 civilians, police personnel and armed forces personnel were killed.

PRIME MINISTER FRANKLIN BARVATA NATIONAL ADDRESS

“Good afternoon,

This morning a great burden of terror came upon to us. Our usual daily lives were interrupted by two coordinated and devastating terrorist attacks. The coordination involved with the tanks and the machine guns tell us that there is an enemy lurking in our shadows. An enemy that killed innocents - they deliberately targeted police stations but in the crossfire they killed other civilians, they were all real people, they were our brothers, sisters, children and parents, friends or colleagues, it hurts us all, but we can’t let them break us. These people are simply vile criminals that we will not acknowledge as real people but the monsters who belong in our shadows.

Following the attack on the Police provincial headquarters building in Delgerdatter, I initiated Black Alert, our highest level of emergency response. Our armed forces responded in fantastic time, putting an end to the insurgency. We did not expect a second attack in a different city some half an hour later, but after Black Alert was initiated all military personnel were on the highest vigilance and were able to prevent the second wave more effectively, preventing such a number of deaths as we saw in Delgerdatter.

It’s vital that we prevent such terror attacks from happening again. That is why the government has decided to implement a series of safety measures in the eastern provinces of Caltharus of Laulia, Aurus, Jomsgord, Barbarus and Nocturne. Effective immediately, there will be a curfew past 9pm where only essential workers shall be able to commute to and from work. The military will be deployed in every city and large town and we will be for the meanwhile redirecting police units from across Morstaybishlia to fill those who have lost their lives in these ghastly attacks. Our Great Morstaybishlia will remain open for business to show the world that we will not be phased by anything.

We are searching for those who orchestrated these vile terrorist attacks. My government will focus all of our intelligence and law enforcement resources to find the criminals responsible to bring them into justice. Those who committed the acts of terror and those who support or harbour them are no different and will be treated the same way.

I thank my government for standing strong and unified, the left wing, the centre and the right wing all together to defy these vile creatures behind the terrorist attack. On behalf of Great Morstaybishlia I thank the support that has flown in from people and leaders from nations around the world.

We will mourn together, tonight, for the people who have been affected by these vile attacks and grieve for those who lost their lives. Together we will pray the demons which haunt us away and together we will carve a better future for Great Morstaybishlia.

Today we must unite together as people against what has happened. We’ve survived the worse kind of attacks before and we will manage it again. We will never forget this day, but we will not allow our memories to sadden and down us, we will evolve from this stronger than ever.

STAYNES THRASHES ACRONIS TO SURVIVE THE KNOCKOUT STAGES

Earlier today Staynes clinched an unlikely progression to the round of sixteen after dealing a 2-1 victory over Acronis, who since dropped from 2nd place to 3rd. Here’s our sport editor’s write up:

" Staynes played their last group stage match against Acronis; the Staynish had drawn their last match against Celannica 1-1 in a grueling and unforgiving tie, one that manager Samminel Haydies claimed was rigged as Staynes was winning until the 89th minute but conceded to a penalty. Against Acronis they were down 0-1 in the 41st minute and it seemed that all was lost. Time after time Riannar Kosan failed to net the ball from playmaker Lambert Vernosty, the crowd grew frustrated with their strikers that were in poor form. From nowhere in the 79th minute Idri Lanar Shtonai committed a horrendous slide tackle on left winger Moe Serran, causing a huge scene as angry fans hurled abuse and pressure at the referee. The referee penalised the Acronian centre-back with a red card and after some time trying to change the decision Shtonai walked off.

Geared with a new spike of adrenaline and a weakened Acronian team, the Staynish changed up their formation to deepen their wings. Six minutes later the central midfielder Rodger Bani scored on the outside of his boot from twenty four yards and hope was restored. Fans gritted their teeth in hope and anticipation and Acronian fans nervously waited for the final whistle, but it was not going to be their day. In the six minutes of extra time awarded from the red card incident and Moe Serran’s injury, central midfielder Arran Salter chipped the keeper who had come out of his six yard box to intercept his attack. The Staynish replaced Acronis as second place in the group stage to clinch progression to the knockout stages. "

WINNERS AND LOSERS

All the way through the group stages Caltharus has been showing all of the signs of a capable football team. Their striker Livañ is the Caltharusian’s most capped player after they scored a hat-trick against Faethalria to beat the Ethalrian team 3-0 and secure first place in Group D.

Sadly for South Staynish fans they will be disappointed with a mixed performance; a victory over Faethalria but a tie against Caltharus and Alyunthia sees them drop to third place and being knocked out from the competition.

CALTHARUS SHATTERS ASENDAVIAN HOPE OF WORLD CUP

Caltharus took home a 1-0 victory over Asendavia today in the 2020 IFFA World Cup, striker Livañ securing an 88th minute screamer from 31 yards and denying the Yasterian giants a place in the semi-finals. Caltharusian manager Anthan Radder claiming that Livañ is their golden boy.

Radder and the rest of the Caltharusian squad have celebrated their victory in the evening, but Radder has stated his team will only get this one evening before the hard training begins for the semi finals.

STAYNES OUT

Staynish fans are devastated as their team lost 2-0 to continental rivals Tuvaltastan in the biggest upset so far in the competition, the Staynish team was quoted as being the “strongest in a generation”.

Since all other Morstaybishlian football teams have been eliminated, most of the Staynish, Justelvardic and South Staynish fans will be rooting for Caltharus in their upcoming game whose fixture or date has not yet been announced.

SECOND TERROR ATTACK PLUNGES NOCTURNE INTO DARKNESS

At 2:05PM this afternoon half a kilogram of plastic explosive strapped to a small drone entered the ventilation shaft of the Nocturne police provincial headquarters in the capital city Fort Nocturne, killing six chief constables, one deputy chief constable and a site engineer in the blast. Chief constables and other staff among the dead are Michael Howit, Ghenner Satuley, Fiona Yanks, Miriam Juliens, Maggie Wrought and Kirkosby Streven, who were from the provinces of Calthia, Laulia, Auria, Jomsgord, Barbarus and Nocturne respectively. Kael Ludostan was a site engineer who was also killed in the blast radius.

One lucky man from the incident survived; Chief Constable of the Dovian police force Dexter Kettser who in a statement to the police said the following:

“There was commotion in the room as what sounded like a fat rat got stuck in the ventilation shaft. I called for an engineer to assess the problem and a sudden need to defecate forced me to the toilet. We live in a distressing time. These people were respected members of the police force, some of which had served for over forty years. They will be missed and my deepest condolences go to their loved ones and families.”

Chief Constable of Jomsgord Anthan Rogimlov was fortunate to survive the meeting after he fell ill the day before with a kidney infection. He declined to comment but wished to express his condolences with all those who were tragically killed.

Franklin Barvata has announced in a speech that he will be focusing a lot of attention on finding and punishing those responsible and has asked bordering countries to share any intelligence they may have with them. More on this story as it develops…

CALTHARUS ANNIHILATES ADURASZNA 4-0 IN STUNNING DISPLAY

In a bout of good news for the nation today, Caltharus beats Aduraszna 4-0 in a tense match.

A writeup from Vultucan reporter on the match:

" The Kick off started and the Match was noticeably aggressive, with Calth defender Herrek getting a red card in the 3rd minute and 2 yellow cards given to Aduraszna before the 9 minute mark, but Calth striker Arzh scored in the 6th minute after a free kick was given to them.

Aduraszna had a 2 major chances in the 10th and 14th minutes, but a challenge in both of them from Caltharus stopped their attempts, Calth midfielder Gwere was awarded a yellow card for one of those challenges. Aduraszna conceded a penalty in the 32th minute and was awarded a red card, but Calth centre attacking midfielder Hoc’h fired it to the moon (It was later retrieved by Vultucas Space Administration as they came into contact with it outside of orbit).

Caltharus’ top scorer Livañ scored again in the 44th minute, ending the half 2-0, It was Adurasznas time to shine if anything, maybe a comeback?

but they kept screwing up, Livañ scored in the 70th minute, and again in the 84th minute for Caltharus, ending the game 4-0.
