Laiatanese Consulate, Kerilo, Vekaiyu

President Kreskov had landed at the airport and had been shuttled over to the local consulate by FSS agents. The consul walked outside and shook the hand of his president, a huge grin across his face. “Welcome to Vekaiyu, Herr President.” Kreskov returned the consul’s firm, almost bone-crushing handshake.

“Please, Isidor Antonovich. No need for formalities between us,” the older lupine replied with a laugh. “Zakhari Alexivich is fine.”

Isidor grinned and nodded as the two walked into the consulate, flanked by FSS agents. “Very well. I hear you have business here, Zakhari Alexivich.”

“That’s correct. Conference on the future of Dveria. Thought I’d come see the consulate we’ve got here in the city. Seems I’m the first one here, so here I am.”

The pair walked through the lobby, the president’s eyes scanning the walls, a small grin coming across his face when he saw the official portrait of himself on the wall.

“So, Isidor Antonovich, how are things here?”

“Not too bad, Zakhari Alexivich. Working hard to protect our people, same as always.” The consul added the last bit with a small laugh. “Also happy to report things seem to be warming between us and Vekaiyu. Y’know, after the whole helicopter incident.”

“Oh, believe me, I remember. I just hope this’ll be a turning point for us. Put petty differences aside for the betterment of the region.”

“Yes, that would be good.”

The pair continued walking down the hall, exploring the building a bit, stopping to talk to a few consulate workers, taking a few pictures and shaking hands. After another couple hours at the consulate, Kreskov took his leave.

“Pleasure meeting with you, Isidor Antonovich. I look forward to speaking with you at another time,” the president said with a friendly smile, giving Isidor a nearly bone-crushing handshake, who simply gave one in return.

“You are always welcome here, Zakhari Alexivich. May the Mahimutter watch over you in your travels and the conference.”

“And you as well,” Kreskov responded, bowing a bit as Isidor did.

The president was lead back out to the small convoy by the FSS agents, who proceeded to begin the drive to the Caspa Palace.

501st Fighter Wing HQ, Tano International Airport

“Ikrisia has a habit of getting herself blown up in secure areas.” The voice on the other end of the phone sounded amused.

“That’s not as funny as you think it is.” The Governor-general chastised his wife. He heard her laugh. “A Tsinuk detachment will link up with Comcomly and the Vekaiyuns graciously allowed a platoon of Marines to augment consular security forces. The Ranger battle group is transiting the straits as we speak.”

“Stay safe.”

“Yeah. I’ll call you when we land.” Marcus tossed the phone to an aid and bounced up the steps of a platform.

The previous speaker was wrapping up, “…of the Grand Pacific! The Honorable Marcus Sydney!”

He shook the speakers hand and took to the podium. “Good morning. We haven’t met before. I’m your commander-in-chief.”

The audience, servicemen and women of the 501st fighter wing, erupted in cheers.

South Hills Presidential Plane - Gulf of Itur

The President walked slowly, guided by two nurses, as he slowly regained feelings in his legs and attempted to flex them. He had made a promise to himself to ‘not leave this plane in a wheelchair’, and, despite advice from his wife and his medical staff, was achieving that goal. When he finally sat down, some staff walked in.

“Aren’t we a bit concerned that a fighter escort of the presidential plane will be taken wrongly in the media?”

"We’re landing at a Vekaiyan Air Force base, there will be no media onsite.

“But is it really necessary, sir?”

“When we’re at a state of war with a ‘rouge state’ that could scramble fighters granted our position right now, Yes.”

“Very well, sir.” The staff left, leaving Captain Ju’lom.

“Something else, Captain?” asked the President, looking at him through his spectacles.

The Vulpine captain straightened his uniform, replying in a monotone.

“Prussia has cancelled the District 58 Treaty.”

“Only was a matter of time, what plans we have drawn up?”

“Either withdraw entirely and bow to there demands, or withdraw most of our force and leave a ship or two docked to test the waters.”

“We both know i’m not about to bow to Prussian demands, Captain. Let’s test the waters. What can we mobilize in the area?”

“Elizabeth and Pittsburgh are being resupplied in-theater by Tano, they could both in theory be ready to move Saturday but I reccomend we keep at least 1 carrier in theatre”

“Send the Pittsburgh back in then, when will East Miffilin be ready?”

“It’s wrapping up Pre-deployment exercises, sir.”

“Good, send it that way as well then.”

“Very well, sir. That’s all I have.”

“Good, get Dom on your way out, please.”

The officer left the room, and the Security Detail leader entered.

“Yes, sir?”

“How are we doing on security? These Vekaiyan conferences in particular have a astonishing late of being blown up” He chuckled.

“The agents and motorcade have already been airlifted to the airport and are awaiting your orders. We’ll be staying at the Kerilo Inn which has been exclusively rented out by us.”

“Good, that is all.” He waved him out of the door, and he shut the door as he exited.

“This is the Flight Deck, please prepare for landing.”

The train ride from Listonia was uneventful. Not nearly as traumatic as the last time he took the line across the border. Still, he was keen on being as incognito as possible. Lso Yiskevi didn’t want word to get out that he was invited to the conference and not Stapen Evesuni. While he wanted nothing more than to be free from his grip, he knew his popularity with the people was unmatched. Sure, he had his own accolades. He was an excellent orator, and picked up the pieces after the disasterous war with Vekaiyu in 2011. But little headway was made in the deadlock for Listonian Premier. Hence the Cadipremier or Co-premier title. It had been that way for two years. While he waited for the right time to strike, he was always checking his steps to see how Vekaiyu would react. He knew Vekaiyu preferred him, a Vekaiyun loyalist, over Evesuni. But there was something in the way. And he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

“Yimislevu Castle, sir,” The Vekaiyun Foreign Officer to Listonia informed.

“Thanks.”

He didn’t quite understand why Listonia was here for a conference about dividing Dveria into zones. Sure, they helped, but all divisions fell under Vekaiyun command. Furthermore, Listonia was cut off from Dveria via the southern annex a few months ago. Any territory rearrangements would have to concede some of that land, he presumed. But even so, why did Listonia want any of this land? The country had trouble enough keeping itself in order; it didn’t need to babysit a sliver of Dverian land indefinitely, especially when this land would probably be full of problems and worth little in the way of economic gain. It simply spelled disaster.

But the rest of the conference didn’t need to know that. He knew the rest would be clamoring for land. What he wanted was recognition. More than that, he wanted his nation to accept him as a native son. Economic gains and compelling speeches could only go so far. What he needed was the eliminate some enemies of his own. If he could convince the attendees assistance with eastern Listonian expansion, eliminating, say, Elephana, for instance, it would cement his position as leader in Listonia. He could then dispose of Evesuni and put him in his rightful place: on a farm, somewhere. Retired.

He went over his carefully-organized notes, ignoring the beautiful scenes of Vekaiyun fauna as the car reached the front entrance of the stunning display of 19th century Vekaiyun achitecture, completely missing the sharp, pointed spires or stained glass above them.

He barely noticed the VFO smile at him, breaking his concentration. “We’re here,” she proclaimed. “Allow me to assist you in reaching the conference room. If there are any questions you have regarding the grounds or just questions in general, don’t hesitate to ask!”

“Naturally,” Yiskevi conceded.

He followed his escort alone. No one else was needed from Listonia; he would speak on his peoples’ behalf.

The plane came to a halt about 3/4th’s of the way down the runway, and taxi’d over to a hanger where the ramp was waiting with the detail. Brandishing it’s colors and lettering, it came to a stop as the ramp pulled up and the fighters went over to a seperate hanger. The door slid open, with the engines still powering down on the airliner, and the ramp moved up to the door. Several figures appeared out of the doorway, with a Vulpine military official, several human, vulpine, and dwarf advisors, and finally the President exiting the craft.

They moved down the staircase in unison, with it not being revealed into they got off the staircase that the President was using a wooden cane and had a slight limp

The Vekaiyun Foreign Officer for South Hills, Eileena Soyagesu, walked up to the plane in haste, her heels clicking behind her. Two guards remained in position - not really for her protection - but for the protection of the foreign dignitaries.

“Hello and welcome to Vekaiyu!” she exclaimed. “I do hope your trip was uneventful. Thank you for honoring us with your presence!” She extended an arm to shake hands in a customary English greeting. It always seemed awkward when a Vekaiyun attempted to do this, mostly because it was completely out of bounds with their culture, but she managed it gracefully. “A trio of cars have been readied for your arrival. They will take you to Yimislevu Castle, where the conference is being held.”

The president would, in blissfull ignorance of the english greeting, follow the traditional Vekaiyan greeting, although obviously not being very good at it having just had a few hours of practice. After finishing, he would speak.“My apologies, We havn’t had much time to practice, but I do appreciate your hospitality.” He would nod slightly, before continueing. “However, We have arranged our own transportation, as we usually do with foreign visits. I enturst you’ve received these details from the planner?”

In apparent confusion, but welcomed response nevertheless, the greeting prompted the VFO to do the same. “We have. But, we hope that you will reconsider since it is us who must be hospitable to our welcomed guests.” Her English was impeccable - even the typical “Vekaiyun” accent had more or less vanished from her dialect.

"With all do respect to you and your people, Mrs…"He rattled his brain to remember her name from the briefing; “Soyagesu, However, the security detail has been rather excessive in persisting that, particularly in lue of last weeks events, we use the armored limousine and escorts provided by the Department of State.”

He would pause for a second, looking at his advisors behind him.

“However, I will respect this request.”

“Most excellent!” she exclamed. She felt as though she should correct and explain it was ‘miss’, but she thought better of it and instead put her career at the forefront. “A route has been planned and is carefully guarded along the way. We are cognizant of your recovery, sir, and have provided the means to a Vekaiyun hospital should you require one along the way.”

“Very well”, He signalled for the vulpine Captain, who would be holding two suitcases to head into the middle car with him, the other essential personell would be in the other vehicles in the convoy, Other support personell would be unloading the plane and nearby cargo planes and setting up in the designated hanger for logistics if needed; they would take seperate rides to the Hotel later.

The three cars arrived without issue (save for a small cloudburst along the way) in about thirty minutes. A scenic route out of the way was chosen rather than main roads, for several reasons: Vekaiyun soldiers scanned strategic points along the way, it would gain less attention, and it would allow the foreign guests to enjoy serene Vekaiyun scenery. All cars pulled up, escorted front and back by unmarked vehicles containing sharpshooters. Drivers left their vehicles and opened the doors for the dignitaries, pitting them directly at the stairs of Yimislevu Castle.

The two men stepped out of the vehicle, along with the senior staff behind them, and re-formed the usual cluster around the president as they entered the castle behind the VFO, inspecting the lobby as they entered.

Shortly after the SHACOG delegation arrived and their vehicles had left the area, the three vehicle convoy of the Laiatanese president arrived. The FSS agents assigned to him exited first to ensure the area was secure, who then notified Kreskov it was safe. He remained inside his vehicle for a few extra moments, looking over his notes a final time before turning his eyes up at the Castle. With a small sigh, the president stepped out of his SUV and walked up the stairs to enter the Castle.

Once he entered, his eyes scanned the lobby, taking note of those in attendance before locating the VFO assigned to him. He approached the VFO with a warm smile.

“Hello there. I’m President Kreskov, I was told to meet you here.”

Five years he has been in the service of the Most Holy Vayan Father and still the diminutive Vekaiyans shied from his massive bulk. Comcomly was certainly large for a Tsinuk but he never thought of himself as potentially monstrous until coming into service of the Vulpines. Of more than three thousand in the great host that responded to the Holy Father’s call, only a handful more than a hundred remained. Many were killed in the Listonian conflict; fewer still returned home to the primordial forests of Pasifika and the Grand Pacific.

Comcomly sneered at the weaselly Vekaiyan VFO who followed close on his heels. Tahki reminded him more than once that it would be poor etiquette to beat the vulpine with his own arm.

The grand silver male proudly entered the lobby and bellowed out a great, menacing howl - the Tsinukan equivalent of the Haka. A great chief from his homeland was in his care, and Comcomly would give him all the honor and respect worthy his position. The howl’s challenge was still ringing throughout the hall as Marcus Sydney entered. The Grand Pacific’s delegation had arrived.

Shaking on the rough roads -where there were still roads- the two truck column was moving slowing north. Over the last week, and after a 3 day wait in the city of Yui, they had passed through the Dveria province called ‘Ikogu’. The AFN had given them two specific locations to supply with aid, undoubtedly orders given to many other teams in the Southern Dverian area.

“We should almost be north of the Ikogu border,” mumbled Lucas.

A flashligt aimed on the map on his legs provided ample light. Maria Lamel fixed her eyes on the dark road. They hadn’t had much sleep the last 5 days, and the road wasn’t exactly in the best conditions. Flashes from yesterday played in her mind. The village they had passed through had been ghostly. The few people that were left were happy with the food and medical care, but obviously torn, shocked and desperate. On more location and they had to drive the whole route back.

The trucks radio receiver crackled.

“Hey zombies, turn on your shortwave!,” Rik’s voice rolled through.

“What the hell Rik…,” Lucas shot up while Maria was already handling the radio’s knobs.

An early familiar voice came through.

“Ah it’s the ABMC News… ,” Lucas interrupted, “Did the AFN reach them already?”.

“And now on the ongoing war in Dveria,” the newsreader continued. “… reports say that most of the hostilities have toned down, now that Dveria has been entirely secured by Vekaiyun, SHACOG, and Laiatan forces. The capital city has been taken and it would appear that this coalition will be starting talks on how to handle this situation from now on. However, the AFN has released reports, compiled by it’s volunteers, of gruesome acts committed by Vekaiyun or Listionian troops in Southern Dveria. Severed limbs, burns, rape and other forms of torture have been reported.”

“The national Bachtendekuppen government,” the reader continued with a stern voice, “… has issued a statement strongly condemning these crimes of war and urging all involved governments to launch proper investigations and stop this kind of unnecessary violence against the civilian population.”

Lucas and Maria looked at each other while the radio mumbled on.

“Let’s hope they don’t target AFN workers for bringing this out.”

Maria nodded. She needed a smoke.

The Vekaiyun Foreign Officers led their respective parties into the castle. Inside, the room opened up to vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows kissed by rays of sunlight, and various ponds and vegetation sprawled about in an organized fashion. Even the walls were partially constructed with built-in tanks of water that housed fish native to the gulf. After all, Kerilo was rather close to that body of water.

Ikrisia watched as others came inside, enjoying the distinctly Vekaiyun classical pieces softly playing from the speakers overhead. She set her glass down on a tray and fancied a small wedge of cheese (native to Eldura, and rather sour at that) laden with clove spices. Aside from speaking to her new Minister of the Interior, Vanse Iliskalu, she partook in little discussion. She mostly just observed.

“Hello everyone,” Ikrisia said once the VFO’s escorted their delegations into the confines of the castle. “In case you do not know me, I am Ikrisia Levinile, Premier of Vekaiyu. Vanse Iliskalu is on my right.” She paused as he bowed appropriately. “I hope your travels were peaceful. If you wish, we have small samples of food and drink that you may take back to the conference room. Servers will accomodate if you require anything during our talks.”

“Please take your time to relax yourselves if you need the time. I plan on starting the discussion soon. When you are finished, please join me in the conference room - your respective foreign officers will guide you down this hallway, second door on the right.” She pointed down a well-iluminated hallway.

“I will be breaking there shortly. I do hope we are able to accomplish much during our stay.”

((OOC: timeskip to the conference))

Ikrisia waited for everyone to sit at the round table. “The first order of business I’d like to present the entire delegation with is what to do with Dveria. I personally believe a fragmented Dveria is within the best interest of every attendee. We don’t want to entertain the possibility of a hostile nation regaining control in the region. With that in mind, I propose we fragment the nation into permanent zones of occupation.” She pressed a button on the table which prompted a holographic projection of the current map of Dveria. “Vekaiyu should gain everything south of the Ugul River.”

“This would place the capitol of Dveria, Nugalu, within our zone, as demonstrated by the map. This zone shall be referred to as ‘South Dveria’ and will be governed solely by Vekaiyun-appointed representatives.”

“I notice there is little to do with Listonia in these plans for a South Dveria,” Lso Yiskevi remarked.

“Naturally. It would seem any territory granted henceforth would be cut off from the Listonian mainland, as Vekaiyu currently occupies the states of Goykag and Ikogu to the south. I am not certain that your nation wants to occupy a territory they cannot readily access.”

Lso scooted his chair forward. “We are not interested in Dverian territory. The only reason we participated was to keep them out of Listonia. We’re always looking at securing our borders. Which is why we want to make a trade for territory or any involvement in Dveria hereafter.”

“What is your request?” Ikrisia asked.

“For years now we’ve had hostilities to the east in Elephana. We would like to see that state solely in Listonian hands. In return for letting the remainder of the delegation divide up Dveria.”

“You wish for us to provide assistance in eliminating Elephana?”

“That’s correct.”

“But they are currently allied with Vulshain. And have not shown any outward signs of aggression since the war in 2011.”

“That’s only what you’ve been told,” Lso corrected. “In reality the state is becoming a hotbed for terrorist activities. I believe stability cannot be obtained until that rogue state is wiped from the map. The people deserve a stable government, and Listonia can more than provide them with that.”

“Sevropia is now the last bastion of hostility in the region,” Vanse Iliskalu, the Minister of the Interior to Vekaiyu, opined.

“Any state with weak governance is a threat to the region.”

“I’m not convinced,” Ikrisia replied. “I don’t see how an elimination of Elephana would suddenly bring more stability to our realm.”

“Sevropia’s currently under Lazlowian assistance,” Lso reminded. “Ultimately, that is now our biggest threat to the region. I’ll agree with you on that. But, right now the state of Elephana represents a weak buffer state between free Listonia and occupied Sevropia. If we controlled that state, we could limit the border with which Sevropia has to operate.”

“You believe Sevropia has allegiance with Elephana?”

“If they don’t, they’d be idiotic. The fall of Dveria should be a warning call to their nation. And, for loss of a better analogy, we should strike while the iron is still hot and ensure that territory remains secure. Allowing Lazlowia or Sevropia access to that territory gives them supreme advantage in the east, an advantage they will readily use.”

“And Listonia is able to stifle that advantage?”

“We know the situation better than anyone at this table. Plus, that territory rightfully belongs to us as per the meeting we had years ago for Listonian independence.”

“I believe we should cross that bridge when we get there,” Vanse Iliskalu said. “For now the pertinent situation is Dveria.”

“Fair enough,” Lso replied. “But Listonia still has a stake in this. I cannot leave the table until we have reached some kind of resolution.”

Ikrisia shrugged. “In due time. For now, the current issue is Dveria. Our armies are impinging on each other and we need to develop some kind of endgame to reach a conclusion. I direct your attention to the map in the center of the table.” She pointed to the holographic image. “I have outlined proposed Vekaiyun territory. Feel free to amend it or add your own. Stylus pens are provided. To draw on the map, simply use the pad in front of you.”

Mr. Hunter stood up, switching a different image onto the 3 dimensional table.

“The map should more properly represent the military zones for ease of movement and logistics, among others. We are willing to cede our line to Nugala to Vekaiyu, however a more stable line should be established among the current main military line.”

He stopped for a second, turning to the Laiatenese delegation.

“We also wish to inquire as to what Laiatan seeks among the lines of negoations territorially.”

Ikrisia looked around the room. She noticed her new Minister of the Interior give a semi-confident nod at the plan.

“This will not work,” she began. “Listonia is not equipped to defend that territory. Everyone, we are slowly neutralizing Dveria as we speak. But, there is a rather powerful enemy to the east in Sevropia. They are backed by Lazlowia and Algasia as a sort of communist triumvirate. I fully expect increased aggression from those states, especially states which are closest to our borders. The history of Listonia and Sevropia is well-known and if some kind of aggressive maneuver is not carried out by Sevropia by the end of this year, I will be shocked.”

“It is clear we only have three choices here: attack Sevropia to remove their threat entirely, build up defenses along their border, or construct an agreement of non-aggression between them. Since a war with Sevropia would most likely be rather messy, and any kind of relations may be out of the question, and with good reason, it seems to me the best option would be two.”

“At this point I question Listonia’s ability to handle a full-scale attack from either of the three states. Therefore, I do not believe Listonia should gain territory in Dveria.”

“I will not leave this table empty-handed,” Lso Yiskevi remarked.

“Indeed you will not,” Ikrisia replied. “Apologies for the interruption.”

Sydney leaned towards an aid and whispered instructions after watching the allies carve up Dveria. The aid nodes, stood, and quickly excused himself from the room.

Meanwhile, in Sevropia.

It has been only a week, that the National Front, a coalition of left and center parties lead by the Communist Party of Sevropia, has won the elections. This was the finalization of the process that has been going on since the past three years, the process of Sevropia becoming a socialist country. When Listonia was violently torn out from Sevropia, the whole political system, that has ruled Sevropia for decades, collapsed. For a while chaos and violence ruled the country. In face of that, a number of parties, who were in the opposition in the past, formed the National Front, and assumed control of the nation. The coalition managed to restore peace and stability, and began the difficult task of rebuilding Sevropia. In this task, the new leaders realized, they needed outside help. As Sevropia was surrounded by hostile countries, like Vekiayu, Listonia and Vulshain, they could only count on Lazlowia. Lazlowia and Algaisia sent a large amount of economical aid to Sevropia for years, and this aid played a pivotal role in putting the Sevropian economy back on its feet.

It is not surprising, that the Sevropian Communist Party became incredibly popular during these years. The party already enjoyed a significant following among the Sevropian population, especially for their significant role in ending the “Turmoil”, as the period between 2009-2011 was called, and now many associated the economical recovery of Sevropia with the communists. As part of the National Front, the communist shared the government with a number of other non-communist parties. However, the communist were in control of some of the key ministries, most notably the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence. As a result, the police and the army was essentially in the hands of the communist. Despite all this, it still seemed unlikely, that the communist would win the majority of the votes in the next elections, therefore, the communist now looked for alternative methods to gain power.

As luck would have it, an ideal opportunity came in the February of this year. Several of the non-communist ministers handed in their resignations to president David Jovanovic, hoping that they can thus force him the call an early election and thus they can reduce the communist influence. Jovanovic however hesitated, and this gave enough time to the communists to mobilize their supporters. The police and armed militias organized by the communists took control of the capital, Kralgrad, while protests were organized in other parts of the country. President Jovanovic, fearful that another civil war would break out, decided to agree to the communists’ demands to dismiss to government and appoint a new one, one which was now completely dominated by the communists.

Early in May a new constitution was ratified, which now turned the Republic of Sevropia into the People’s Republic of Sevropia. In the elections, the National Front, which was now completely dominated by the communists, faced no significant opposition. President Jovanovic is now merely a figurehead, the real power is in the hands of Veselko Zupan, Prime Minister and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Lazlowia.

The first one to congratulate Zupan on his victory was president Mór Preusz of Lazlowia of course, who personally visited him in Kralgrad. Preusz’s visit however was not only a courtesy, and he was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algaisia, Sholto Montgomery.

“-You can see now, comrade Zupan, why we didn’t make any move so far in the Dverian question.” -said Preusz- “The situation here in Sevropia was of critical importance. Besides, if we would have interfered on Dveria’s side, it would have only given and excuse to those imperialist vultures an excuse to attack us.”

“-Besides, Dveria started the war.” -added Montgomery- “I still can’t figure out what made them do such an idiotic thing. They should have know it was suicide.”

“-Alright, but getting back to the point, if I understand it correctly, you have hoped, that Vekiayu, Laiatan, South Hills and the British Grand Pacific would get into war with each other over the control of Dveria?” -asked Zupan.

“-Admittedly, it was a miscalculation on our part.” -said Preusz- “But, in my opinion, there’s still enough friction between these fascist warmongers, that they will be bogged down for a while with carving up Dveria. Our task now is to prepare, as they will inevitably will attack us. What is your opinion on Elphana, comrade?”

“-Elphana is definitely in a dangerous position. For years, Listonia openly threatened them with war, so I would say they would be quite recipient to our offer of alliance. I don’t think we would have to apply any pressure.”

“-And what about Vulshain?” -asked Montgomery.

“-Those fuckers are too stupid to see what is happening around them. And besides, two years have passed since the Elphanian president has visited Vulshain, and even that visit was more of a parade of folklore, than a proper diplomatic meeting.”

“-Alright, so we will make contact with Elphana.” -concluded Preusz- “What about other countries?”

“-Well, for one I think we should make contact with Bachtendekuppen. They’ve been neutral, sure, but they have also condemned the atrocities committed in Dveria, and they are not exactly friendly with South Hills either.” -answered Montgomery.

“-Could work. I leave Bechtendekuppen to your government, comrade Montgomery. Now, there’s one more item, that I would like to discuss, and I must stress, that it is a most sever subject. Considering the fact, that now our very lives are threatened by these fascist, it has become necessary to create further deterrent. We must build up our nuclear arsenal. I realize, that this can be only done in a joint effort of our countries, considering the scale and the cost of the project. But we must start it as soon as possible.”

The two other man nodded.

(OOC: Since Todd has already made Sevropia my puppet, might as well make it formal. Although I guess this retcons some previous RP which nobody cares about.)

“We intend on maintaining our position in Dveria in order to maintain the peace. The future of the territory is going to be left up to populace in our occupied area, though we fully intend to keep military units there even after the referendum,” Kreskov replied to Mr. Hunter, pausing to listen to Ikrisia before nodding in agreement.

“Agreed. I don’t want to send any more of my soldiers to die in a foreign land. Defenses would at least allow us the advantage of learning the land and give us the best positions to defend the territory. If Sevropia wants a fight, they’ll have to come to us. I would rather avoid a fight entirely, but if it comes down to it, we will fight.”

Kreskov’s eyes left Ikrisia and scanned across the room. He cleared his throat and continued speaking.

“I also recommend we look into fashioning some sort of permanent alliance between our nations. This would allow us to create a power bloc large enough to deter Lazlowia or any other nation from meddling in our areas of interest. Each of our countries are strong, but imagine the power projection we would have together.”

((OOC: I figured since you’ve been playing it for a while and it formed an alliance with Lazlowia. It’s cool.))

Ikrisia nodded. “I must admit, Vekaiyu does not normally work on joint ventures, but as a collective force we work quite well. If our goals are similar, I build on Zakhari’s statements and suggest an alliance to further our resolve.”

She was somewhat concerned about the aid leaving the room, unsure of what it meant. She had made a place in heart for the Tsunik after being rescued by one on the last conference, possibly even saving her life, and felt their kind to be rather accepting of vulpines in general.

Just south of Nugala, Dveria

With one last firm tug, she swung the heavy crate of the the truck, just in time pulling back a bit to prevent it from coming down to hard. Exhausted, Maria sunk to the floor of the truck and exhaled. Finally empty, finally done.

Meanwhile, Lucas was busy discussing god knows what with some locals, while Rik distributed the contents from the latest crate.

Maria sincerely hoped they could leave as soon as possible. This last village, just below Nugala, had been their last stop. Lucas had told them that they might be able to take a flight out straight from Yui, instead of driving all the way back to Ye’lek.

It could as well be Hell down here. If this was the result of the great Vekaiyun-Laiatan-SHACOG coalition, she sincerely hoped it would stay on this continent. Whatever they did here, leaving civilians alone was not one of them.

She sighed and lighted a cigarette.

Sumter, Dveria

Transport helicopters flew overhead the captured port city, carrying men and supplies across the war-torn city. Magnetic red crosses were slapped on the sides of them to show their humanitarian purpose. The short flight across the city was peaceful - all fighting had stopped in Sumter, and it was safe for the civilians to be back out and about. The helicopters came to a stop above a plaza, each of the three landing in the plaza. The men on board unloaded the supplies, containing food, water, medical kits and large tents. As the helicopters took back off, the soldiers set up the tents and tables to begin distributing the food, water and medical supplies, as well as offering medical care.

Similar distribution centers had already been set up across the city, as well as in other population centers within the Laiatanese zone of occupation. Areas not totally under Laiatanese control remained distribution center free in order to cut down the risks to Laiatanese troops and civilians.

The President nodded at the Premier’s remarks.

“We are still open to Listonia’s propsal, we are simply adjusting the north-south boundry established around the Capital- are there any objections to that?” He paused, looking around the table before continueing.

“Furthermore, I see no reason why a formal alliance between our nations would be a issue.”

Sydney nodded in agreement. “Considering the partnerships we currently enjoy with both SHACOG and Vekaiyu, a more formal arrangement would be welcome.”
